Half the size of the physical memory (in bytes), and at least 21474836482 4096 8192 65535 2878 131072
: set using the following entry in the /etc/sysctl.conf file: kernel.sem = 256 32000 100 142
2 3
: On the server running the EBS Database, this kernel parameter must be the lesser of half the size of the physical memory (in bytes) and 4294967295 : values recommended for the local port range may need to be adjusted according to the specific needs of the user's environment in order to avoid port conflicts.
4
: The listed value is the minimum requirement - we recommend an actual setting that is at least equal to the sum of all the SGAs on the system, divided by the page size. On SUSE Linux Enterprise Server version 10 and 11, ensure that you set the following kernel parameter to the gid of the group used as the dba group. For example, on a system using a group named dba with the dba:!:104:oracle entry in the /etc/group file, the hugetlb_shm_group kernel parameter should be set to the following value:
vm.hugetlb_shm_group = 104

Without this updated link, you may see the following errors during a relink of the 10.1.2 Oracle Home:
Since the ldconfig command overrides this link, the above link command (ln) will have to be re-issued after running the ldconfig command.
Upgrade Oracle Database and Oracle Application Server (Oracle Linux 6, RHEL 6 and SLES 11 only)
Customers who are cloning to the above operating systems must first upgrade the Oracle Database to 11gR2 (11.2.0.3 or higher) and Oracle Application Server 10gR3 to 10.1.3.5 on the source 12.1.1 system using the respective documents: Interoperability Notes Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 with Oracle Database 11g Release 2 (11.2.0) (My Oracle Support Note 1058763.1) Upgrading to the Latest OracleAS 10g 10.1.3.x Patch Set in Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 (My Oracle Support Note 454811.1) Customers who are installing the E-Business Suite on these operating systems using Rapid Install must upgrade these technology components after the installation of EBS 12.1.
To address this issue, perform the following steps before installing or upgrading: Check if the port 6000 is being used ("netstat -a | grep 6000") If so, you should disable the graphics console login process on the Linux server. This can be accomplished by logging in as root and issuing the following commands: Find the process that uses port 6000 by the command "lsof -i TCP:6000". Use "kill -9" to abort the process found in the previous step Confirm that nothing is listening at port 6000 ("netstat -a | grep 6000") Modify /etc/inittab by changing "id:5:initdefault:" to "id:3:initdefault:" Run "/sbin/init 3" to restart dtlogin

Patch AS 10g (10.1.2 and 10.1.3) Oracle Homes (Oracle Linux 6 and RHEL 6 only)
After installation, users must update the stub libraries in the 10.1.2 and 10.1.3 Oracle Homes by installing the patch 12415211. Users must specifically copy the files in the patch to the specified directories as follows for the 10.1.2 Oracle Home:
$ $ $ $ $ $
cd cp cd cp ln ln
After this is done and sourcing the APPS<CONTEXT_NAME>.env file, users should relink all 10.1.2 executables by running the $ORACLE_HOME/appsutil/clone/adlnktools.sh script and ensuring that there are now no errors in the make log file output from the script. The instructions for the 10.1.3 Oracle Home are:

Upgrade Oracle Database and Oracle Application Server (Oracle Linux 6, RHEL 6 and SLES 11 only)
Customers installing E-Business Suite 12.1.1 on Oracle Linux 6 using Rapid Install must upgrade the Oracle Database to 11gR2 (11.2.0.3 or higher) and Oracle Application Server 10gR3 to 10.1.3.5 after installing EBS 12.1 using the respective documents: Interoperability Notes Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 with Oracle Database 11g Release 2 (11.2.0) (My Oracle Support Note 1058763.1) Upgrading to the Latest OracleAS 10g 10.1.3.x Patch Set in Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 (My Oracle Support Note 454811.1) Customers who are cloning an existing EBS environment to a new Oracle Linux 6 system must ensure that their original E-Business Suite instance has been upgraded to 11gR2 and 10.1.3.5 prior to performing the clone.
Manually fix database dbf file for Fresh production (PROD) database installs
For older versions of the startCD prior to the current version 12.1.1.13 (see Oracle Applications Release Notes, Release 12.1.1 My Oracle Support Document 798258.1), you must run the following sql commands to fix a particular corrupted dbf file if installing the production (PROD) database:

Relink Advanced Supply Chain Planning executables (for SLES 10 and 11, Oracle Linux/RHEL 5.4 or higher and Oracle Linux/RHEL 6 only)
During the relink phase of the installation of EBS Release 12 (12.1.1) on the above operating systems, failures will result while relinking the Advanced Supply Chain Planning (ASCP) executables MSO, MSC, MSR and FEM. To fix this problem, users are required to replace the following line under the Linux section of the $AD_TOP/bin/adrelinknew.sh:
with
After making this change, users are then required to run the adadmin utility and relink application executables. Additional Information: The application of an EBS Release Update Pack (RUP) or AD family pack could over-write the adrelinknew.sh file - users must then re-edit and make changes to the above file in order to avoid relinking failures.

Forms Applications hangs on Windows XP client (Oracle Linux 6, RHEL 6 and SLES 11 only)
When switching between a Forms application and any other desktop application on a Windows XP client, the Forms application can hang and users may see a stack trace in the Java console indicating a connection error (bug 12636402) . This only occurs with this combination of the desktop client (Windows XP) and an E-Business Suite system running on a server with Oracle Linux 6. Patching Application Server Oracle Homes using OPatch (Oracle Linux 6 and RHEL 6 only) After an installation or clone of Release 12, you will need to set the OPATCH_PLATFORM_ID to '226' prior to applying patches to the 10.1.2 or 10.1.3 Application Server Oracle Homes.
