b. One at a time, each student from each section will play a 12-bar improvised solo over a recording c. After each solo, the rest of the section will evaluate the player using the given form d. Each section will go through the evaluations with the players before turning them in Differentiation Differentiation will occur mainly through review of previous material. Since everyone will be called upon to change a rhythm, if a student is struggling, the class can help, and we can review again. Closure Closure to the lesson will be through going over the evaluations. This will give the students another opportunity to hear feedback about their solos before they leave. Materials and Resources Whiteboard with staff lines and markers Example Melody 1 Sheet Peer evaluation forms Instrument Recordings of rhythm section

Classroom Management/Democratic Practices Students will be almost constantly playing or singing during the rehearsal. This should help prevent any issues with students talking or playing out of turn. ASSESSMENT Before the lesson Students will be assessed prior to the lesson through their assignment of writing a basic improvised solo using the material covered in the previous lesson. During the lesson Students will be assessed during the lesson through playing solos for me and their fellow students. Feedback will be given by me and the other students. At the end of the lesson Students will be given feedback from fellow band members regarding their performances.
