Gorgeous Geek Chapter 11: Ragazza

Chapter 11: Ragazza

Jenny, said Eunice, hopping up and down in front of Jennifer, who was too busy fixing her hair into a ponytail. Why Is Tiffy avoiding us today? Jin, said Jennifer abruptly. The single word did make all the difference because Eunice settled down and bobbed her head in understanding. There's nothing to worry about though Eunie. Jennifer held up her finger with a smile. She's in school at least. Where is she? asked Eunice, tilting her head to the side. Bathroom, said Jennifer curtly. She finally managed to tie her hair in a ponytail. You are as hyper as always, Eunie. Are you over Kristian already? Yup! I'm glad, said Jennifer, patting her chest in relief. Then, you are fine with this rumor going around between him and Rin Hamada? I don't know, said Eunice, blinking. How does that even work? Oh my goodness, said Jennifer, gaping at her friend and clapping a hand over her own mouth. You're right, Eunie. How does a relationship like that work in the first place? Isn't Rin Hamada too short for him? Isn't she too short for everyone? asked Eunice, placing her hands on her hips. Right, said Jennifer, rethinking. There are other reasons though. Kristian's at the top while she's at the bottom. She's our valedictorian. I don't know if Kristian even have enough credits to move on to twelfth grade. Kristian's pretty hot and Rin Hamada's not very hot. And even though Rin Hamada hasn't had a boyfriend, she's not that innocent either. Everything is against this relationship from happening, said Eunice with wide eyes. The rumor is probably false right? How can it possibly be true? asked Jennifer, clicking her fingers at this conclusion. How rude. At the familiar, cold voice, both Jennifer and Eunice turned their heads to the side in unison to find themselves a few feet away the pale-skinned, brown-haired male in the same grade as them. Simultaneously, Jennifer and Eunice paled and latched onto each other. Vance simply ignored them and went up to them. V-Vance, said Eunice, stuttering. We mean you no harm. I'm too young to die, said Jennifer, crying loudly. Like screaming and crying will help you if a serial killer seriously wants to chop you up, said Vance, sighing. Because of his words, the two girls were sobbing and begging God for help against each other. Oh just shut up. Sorry, said Eunice and Jennifer in unison. Whether Rin and Kristian are together or not is none of your business, said Vance, narrowing his eyes dangerously. The two girls moved as far away from him as possible. Does it hurt you to stop and consider other people's feelings for once? Scary... muttered Eunice, shaking. Why do I even bother, said Vance, turning his back on them. People never listen anyway. A bunch of morons who should give up their brains to monkey to make use of. We are not insulting Rin Hamada in any way, said Jennifer bravely, holding her hands up and approaching Vance's scary back. So, please, spare us, oh scary one. Yes, said Eunice, holding onto Jennifer and cautiously moving up to Vance. We're not bad people so let's all be friends okay Vance? It's not like we're saying Rin Hamada should be with anyone but you, said Jennifer,

laughing weakly. And definitely not Kristian. You people don't listen, said Vance, turning around so swiftly that it scared Jennifer and Eunice to death. By the time he finished the word 'listen', they had already ran off with their backpacks and belongings. And this is exactly why I don't talk to people. That's pretty wicked. At the new voice, Vance glanced over at Wendy who was leaning against a nearby wall, fixing her spiky bracelet and chewing bubblegum. Vance noticed that both of them have the same fashion sense- a lot of black and chains. He wondered if she were a resident punk of this school or something. Still, he did not say anything. You're a friend of Rin Hamada right? asked Wendy after an awkward silence. Sure, said Vance, blinking. Do you happen to know where that girl is? asked Wendy, twisting her lips into a wicked smile. Like I know, said Vance in a cold tone. It's not like I stalk her or anything. But you told those Asian Gossip Girls off for her, said Wendy with wide eyes. She pointed at herself. I saw the whole thing. You were so bad ass back there! I want to be more like you. So cool and collected. Heh, said Vance, whirling around and waving a hand off. I was just passing by. Man, said Wendy, hitting her head with her fists. He has such a natural scary face. I want be just like him but- Wendy took out a hand mirror and checked her face before she ran after Vance. -I don't have what it takes at all. Leader can just lift the corners of the lips into a smirk and then, bang, she looks so evil. But as the co-leader of the Femme Fatales, I must make the same impression! Why are you following me? asked Vance in a tired voice at Wendy. Teach me how to be more intimidating, said Wendy with sparkling eyes. Vance did not say anything and continued to ignore her. Come on now! You must have a secret method! At least, show it to me. It's Vance! shrieked a nearby girl, who hugged close to her boyfriend. Vance, I swear I didn't touch your eraser! If you want, I'll ask the teacher to move seats! He didn't even say anything, said Wendy, gasping at Vance, who ignored the scared girl and muttered something about being annoying. He perfected the way of intimidation! I wonder how much training he has done to achieve this level! You, said Vance, stopping his tracks and turning to Wendy, who tossed him a wicked grin in return. I walk alone. This time, Wendy did not follow Vance and instead, admired his back while he went off what looked like a shining horizon to her. Wendy admitted that with his help, she might be able to become scary enough so that she could seek revenge against Jordan. How would she do it? Haunt him? Scary him into submission? The ideas were endless. There was only one thing she cared about and it was revenge against her ex-boyfriend. And something told her that Vance might be able to help. What time is it? asked Wendy, checking her cell phone. She gasped at the time. Oh shit! I need to pick Jesse and Jin Song up from the metro station! Right after she left the school campus, Wendy went straight to her car and drove over to the metro station where an angry Jezebelle glared at her. Jin was wavering out of sleepiness. Smirking, Wendy opened the passenger door for Jezebelle and smirked at her leader with a twinkle in her eyes. I burned the CD, said Wendy proudly, winking. You're forgiven, said Jezebelle, entering the passenger seat without caring if Jin wanted it or not. She almost knocked the door into his face. Turn it on full volume and pull down the car windows, Willis. We can drive around the school, causing a loud riot if

necessary. I'm fucking bored out of my brains. It doesn't take much to bore you, Leader, said Wendy, laughing hard. Mind your manners, bitch, said Jezebelle, checking her make-up in the rear mirror. She noticed that Jin went in and sat in the back. He's need a serious wake-up call. It all depends on your cooperation, Willis. I'll make you proud, said Wendy, tossing Jezebelle a smirk. Indeed, Jin jolted awake when he noticed that all four mirrors were pulled down and a strange song was on full volume. Both Wendy and Jezebelle were not the best singers but they knew the lyrics and had decent voices. But still, he did not need to listen to songs like I'm a Bitch I'm a Lover, Girls Just Want to Have Fun and Money, Money, Money this early in the morning. ********************************** I don't need your pity, said Edwin, kicking his chair and passing by Rin while she was still gathering her music sheets. You don't have to pick a piece with a bass solo because you feel bad for me. Who said I pick that piece because I felt bad for you? asked Rin, glaring angrily at how rude Edwin treated her today. I just so happen to enjoy that piece and that piece just so happen to have a bass solo. You should stop being so pig-headed, Edwin! Even if you're concertmaster in Orchestra, you are not in Jazz Band! One, I am not pigheaded, said Edwin, picking up his backpack and sticking his nose upwards. And two, you're more cranky than usual because your new boyfriend hasn't done a thing to defend you against me in Jazz Band today. I don't need anyone to defend me against you! He's probably going out with you out of pity, said Edwin, shrugging freely and standing by the open door. That's even worse than when you were single. It's quite a shame that you can't get a real boyfriend on your own. Ta-ta. That jerk, said Rin, growling. He didn't even put away his music stand! Are you that cranky I didn't defend you against good, old Edwin? asked Kristian, appearing behind her without warning. Rin jumped and dropped her music to the ground. Or is he just saying bull shit again? It doesn't matter, said Rin, bending down to pick up her music. I didn't want to get involved in such a childish argument, said Kristian, licking his lips at the sight of Rin bending over. Speaking of pigheadedness, said Rin, glaring at Kristian. If it makes you feel better, said Kristian with a smirk. I filled his backpack with rocks during break earlier. Nice, said Rin with a smile now. However, Rin realized who she was smiling at and scowled immediately. But you didn't have to do that. It might hurt his back after a while and he'll blame me for sure. If there is one essential life-long rule I learn, said Kristian, sitting down on her seat and leaning his head back. It's that you can't accuse someone of anything without proof. I can cheat all I want as long as I don't get caught. Knowing you, said Rin, putting her music sheet in her folder. You'll want to get caught. You like detention don't you? Not getting caught is boring, said Kristian, rocking back and forth on her chair. What's the point of messing with the teachers if no one knows about it? It's no fun gloating to myself you know. Unbelievable, said Rin, picking up the stands. I'll put both Edwin's and my stand away. You go on ahead. You're the pianist. You don't have to clean up at all. Hey, said Kristian, forcing the stands out of Rin's hands. I'll do it, Rin-chan. You

put away your sax. I'll see you at the door. I can take care of it myself, said Rin hastily, stealing the stands back. Scary, said Kristian, laughing and running out of the room. Good luck Rin-chan. Rin frowned after him. Great. My luck. Two stands and a sax to put away. And the chairs, said Kristian from outside the door. Plus, you need to cram. Fine, said Rin through a deep growl. Stubborn, little thing, said Kristian, reentering the room and picking up the stands and the folded chairs easily. Rin stuck her tongue out at him. Let's hurry with clean up so we can cram as many dirty, Spanish words as possible. Ignore the bastard, said Rin under her breath, carrying her instrument case towards the shelves. He's helping you so... you must not scream at him... After she was done putting away her case, Kristian was also done putting away the stands and the chairs. The two of them left the band room together, side by side. Unlike normal couples, they did not hold hands. They did not walk especially close to each other either. However, Rin could not help but keep her eyes on the ground to avoid his gaze. This was the first time she noticed how much noise they made by moving their shoes against the dirt of the ground. Rin-chan? Huh? asked Rin, blinking. She was broken out of her thoughts. It's a waste to walk and not cram right? asked Kristian with a smirk. Yeah, said Rin softly. Let's do some translations then, said Kristian, thinking. Boyfriend. Pololo. Bad boy. Chico malo. Japanese. Japons. Mini-skirt. Mini-falda. Childish. Infantil. She has a short temper, said Kristian, amused. Tiene muy mal genio, said Rin, sending Kristian a glare. Have sex with Kristian, said Kristian, glancing away innocently. Tener sexo con- Rin stopped and gaped. You tricked me! Oh, Rin-chan's so naughty, said Kristian, laughing but not daring to look at her straight in the eye. Not in school, Rin-chan. I know you're hasty about it and all. Take this seriously please! cried Rin with a red face. Rin-chan's so cute, said Kristian, teasing her. Kawaii. I'll murder you! Before Rin could kick Kristian, someone caught her foot in time. Much to her surprise, Rin found the enormous member of the Killer Four standing in between her and the leader of the group. Gary had that permanent frown on his face as usual. He placed her foot safely on the ground before Cory bounced up to her with a bright face. Hello Rin Hamada! greeted Cory. Sorry about that. You guys are no fun, said Kristian with a sigh. Kristian! said Cory, frowning and stomping. Where have you been? Even after Choir practice in the morning, I can't find you anywhere! Gary and I were looking all over the place for you! We were so worried, thinking that the Beast captured you or something! Alejandro and I are on good terms, said Kristian with a bored look.

Where have you been? asked Cory, repeating himself. Your listening skills are up to par as ever, said Kristian, shrugging. Jazz Band. Jazz Band? asked Cory with bulging eyes. Gary showed some form of surprise on his face as well. But that requires you to come to school super early like Choir! It's easier to ditch Jinx that way, said Kristian carelessly. Oh Rin Hamada, said Cory, turning on the shorter Japanese girl. Kristian glared at Cory for his short attention span. Why are you here with Kristian? I wonder myself, said Rin, rolling her eyes. We're studying, said Kristian with a playful grin. He placed an arm on top of Rin's shoulder. Rin-chan is teaching me dirty words in Spanish so I can use it on her. Isn't that so cute? Look at this baby face. Oh no Rin Hamada, said Cory, grabbing a hold of Rin's fists before they made contact with Kristian's shoulder. Cory looked at her tearfully. You must not fall for Kristian's irresistible charms! You are our valedictorian after all. We can't allow others to see you with our Kristian. It's not good for either of our groups! What are you talking about? asked Rin, irked. Who said I would fall for him? But but, said Cory, stunned. He glanced at Kristian, who shrugged innocently. It can't possibly be the other way around! What do you mean it can't possibly be the other way around? screamed Rin at Cory. Rin-chan, ignore him, said Kristian quickly. Ninety percent of the time, he speaks nonsense that no one cares about. Pay it no heed. So mean, said Cory, clutching onto Gary. I don't understand what's going on here! It's simple, said Kristian, pushing Cory against the shoulder once. Rin-chan and I have Jazz Band together so we're walking to class together. Get lost before I spread rumors about you using the girls' bathroom. That was an accident, said Cory hopelessly. I have Taffy Tiffy's cell phone number, said Kristian, pulling his cell out of the pocket of his jeans. How long will it take? Two hours? Gary, said Cory sadly. Come on. Let's cram for Spanish test. At the sight of Cory and Gary leaving together, Kristian chuckled in satisfaction. Rin frowned after them and glanced at Kristian at what she saw. There was a definite abuse of power in this group. Unlike most other groups where most of the members had an equal say when it came to group decisions, it seemed like Kristian was the King and the others were his servants in the Killer Four. Let's keep our relationship a secret okay Rin-chan? asked Kristian suddenly. Most definitely, said Rin with a smile. Finally, we agree for once. Back to translations, said Kristian, thinking. I'm in love with you. Estoy enamorado de ti, said Rin, reddening slightly. I'll remember that, said Kristian with a wink. Rin sighed at him. So I guess... it would be 'Kristian est enamorado de Rin'? No, said Rin through gritted teeth. To the incorrect translation or to the statement itself? Cory's wrong, said Rin, picking up her pace with Kristian trailing behind her. You're definitely not charming. The sound of her shoes against the dirt ceased to annoy her because the footsteps of the person behind her were the only noise in her ears. ******************************************* Even though the warning bell had already rung, Jin-Kyong Song did not proceed inside his first period classroom. His hand clutched the PSP inside the pocket of his jacket. Jezebelle had already gave her blessing (Stop mopping like a girl and make up with Shortie

already, you sissy pants!) and now, it was up to Jin to at least sneak an apology in before the test. However, the waiting was for nothing because Jin caught sight of Rin hurrying up the stairs with Kristian by her side. Could it be that they were together? Hey Jin, said Kristian, slapping a hand on Jin's shoulder before he went inside. Hey Rin-chan, said Jin lamely with a weak smile. Like he thought, Rin ignored him and followed Kristian inside. This did not deter Jin though. He was going to try again during nutrient whether she wanted to talk to him or not. With this in mind, Jin went inside and sat down next to his now-rival before the bell rung. Kristian did not even take out his pencil case or anything when the test were passed out at their table. Jin noticed that Jennifer from behind them was crying already about not studying enough for such the test. Up front, Jordan seemed to have completely forgotten it even existed in the first place. It saddened Jin somewhat that he was at Jordan's level. As for Jezebelle and Rin, they were completely at ease in their seats. Good luck, said Kristian, tossing a Jin a smile. Thanks, said Jin, almost coldly to Kristian. It confused Jin a lot why his attitude toward Kristian changed so dramatically. A few days ago, they were still video game buddies and even talked about Pokemon and sheep. But today, it was as if someone placed a wall between them. Even though Jin tried his best at his test, which turned out to be fifty multiple-choice questions and a couple of sentences at the end to translate, he could not help but glance at Rin up front and Kristian to his side. Mister Shiratori, said Mr. Sanchez, gazing straight at Kristian. What's up Mr. S? asked Kristian with a playful wink, throwing his marble into the air and catching it. The test started fifteen minutes ago and Kristian did nothing but play. Nothing? Did you ask for my health? I'm perfectly fine. Thanks for your concern. This is a test, said Mr. Sanchez warningly. Stop making hand signals. Hand signals? repeated Kristian, laughing his ass off now. You mean cheating? Please stop playing with that ball, said Mr. Sanchez after a slight cough. Yeah, because it's such a good tool to cheat with, said Kristian, laughing some more. Jennifer was hysterical behind Kristian as most of the class. Hey Jordan. Did you get the signals? If I throw the marble really high, it means A. If I throw the marble not so high, it means B. If I throw the marble towards Jin, it means C. If I flick Mr. S off, it means D or fuck you, whichever one works! You the man, Kristian, said Jordan, encouraging Kristian. That's enough out of you, said Mr. Sanchez grumpily. Do you want me to fail you? According to my calculations, said Kristian, leaning back in his seat. If I pass half of your tests and fail half of your tests, I still pass your class. Why do I bother to bore himself half to death now rather than later? Why do something today when you can leave it until tomorrow? Why do something tomorrow when you can leave it until next week? Like always, Kristian managed to force the whole class into laughter. Now, Kristian proceeded on telling Mr. Sanchez that if he wanted to cheat, he could have done it a more discreet manner. Right when Kristian started to describe all the cheating methods possible out loud for his new book in the future, Rin bolted up from her seat. Urusai! shrieked Rin, shaking. No one said a word, not even Kristian. Jin recognized that Japanese term to shut up. Some people are trying to take their tests in this room! If you want to fail, shut up and fail by yourself! Don't drag others with you! Stop being so selfish! As if it were judgment time, everyone turned their eyes to Kristian, even Mr. Sanchez. The Japanese male simply smirked cockily at his teacher and Rin before he dropped his head on his paper and went to sleep. A bunch of people started whispering now. Rin was the first student to interfere with Kristian like this. More than that, Kristian

listened to her. For Rin, she sat back down and continued with her test in a panic. Here, said Jezebelle, dropping the test off at the front desk. As the best student in her class, she was the first one done with twenty minutes left. I'm done. You sure you don't want to switch to AP Spanish? asked Mr. Sanchez to Jezebelle. It's too much trouble, said Jezebelle softly. And I can't afford to pay for AP's. It's quite a shame, said Mr. Sanchez with a shake of his head. You can definitely use your language skills to pursue a number of interesting career opportunities in the future. Spanish is not only for school you know. Thanks but, said Jezebelle, glancing at Jin. I don't have any real dreams. The class ended with Jin and Jordan dropping off their tests with Mr. Sanchez before they left the room. Cory was groaning and complaining nearby to Gary about how he probably failed the test. The stoic African American didn't say a word but he nodded in understanding. Jezebelle said she would kill herself if she got one question wrong on that test before she laughed manically at the sad expression on Jin's face at the mention of it. Out of everyone here, she had the pleasure of watching him struggle with cramming a ton of Spanish words within two hours while multitasking with laundry, music, and others. How did you do Vance? asked Rin curiously. It doesn't really matter, said Vance, packing his stuff. You? I did well, said Rin happily. I studied so much for it for a couple of days now. That sounds like you, said Vance, nodding. I had some help yesterday though, said Rin, noticing that Kristian dropped the test paper off with Mr. Sanchez. I'll talk to you during second period. There's something I need to do first, okay Vance? Again, I don't care, said Vance quickly before he went on his way. None of this bothered Rin though because Vance was usually like that. Even if he were more so than usual today, she could only begin to guess why he was in such a mood. Even though Jin didn't notice it, she watched carefully for his reaction. Judging by his face, she knew he did poorly. On the other hand, his girlfriend probably didn't need to study to pass this class since Spanish was her forte. Rin held her lunch box tight against her sweater. Kristian, said Rin, making her way over to her supposedly boyfriend. However, when Rin spotted him, he was leaving the classroom with Juliet Heart. Not giving up, Rin followed them outside the classroom to find that Kristian was smiling, almost proudly at her. Rin guessed that Juliet did well on her test. The girl appeared to be in high spirits for someone so shy. I'm glad to hear that Juliet, said Kristian, giving her an affectionate look. This is cause for celebration of course. N-No... please... said Juliet, flushed red. She was fidgeting with her hands. It's only a test... it's no big deal... and I don't know if I really... did that well on it... Better than me at least, said Kristian, flashing her a bright grin. How... did you do? asked Juliet shyly, glancing away. I marked the scantron randomly, said Kristian with no fear. In the end, it spells out my name. I should tape that on my wall once I get it back. My own masterpiece! How about the... translations? asked Juliet, reddening some more. I either made up shit or left it blank, said Kristian, shrugging. But you! You did well, Juliet! How about I give you a hug in celebration? I-I... said Juliet, jumping back slightly. I don't like... to be touched... Tilly touches you, said Kristian accusingly. She's... different. Fine, said Kristian, turning his back on her. Be that way, Juliet. Wait... said Juliet, closing her eyes out of embarrassment. Kristian smirked and

faced her once more. Only for one second... But as far as Rin counted, it lasted longer than one second. To her, it felt like a minute or longer. Rin did not stay for the whole thing because she continued on her way for second period. At the thought of Kristian, Rin shook her head. She didn't need a congratulation hug from him or anything like that. The thought never crossed her mind. Nope. Not at all. Not even thanking him in any way or form. You're awful, Rin-chan, said Kristian, catching up to Rin. You left me behind. You don't usually take this route, said Rin under her breath. You noticed, said Kristian, licking his lips. I'm touched. No, said Rin quickly with deadly eyes. It's obvious when someone doesn't walk the same path as me, especially when that person has the same class as me. I prefer the longer way to class, said Kristian happily. It's not like I want to get to class sooner so I simply take my time. You know how that is right Rin-chan? How am I supposed to know? asked Rin, irritated. I'm not you! Which is quite a shame, I must say, said Kristian, chuckling. More like a relief, said Rin bitterly. Kristian widened his eyes in surprise at her exclamation. What's so great about you anyway? You're obnoxious. Those who don't like to be offended or proven wrong should not make themselves so vulnerable to the criticism of others. You're egotistical. Egoism is a belief that self-interest leads to proper motivation, which in turn leads to proper human conduct towards others. You're whimsical. A playful heart brings out the youth in one's soul. You're defiant. Even pets are not born to be leashed. Rin stopped and glared at him. You're irritating! Irritation is not a problem unless the other person invokes the provoke itself. I'm not talking to you anymore, said Rin angrily, hurrying to her class and leaving Kristian behind. You're unbelievable! Thank you Rin-chan for calling me incredible! After Rin reached the building of her AP US History class, she glanced backwards and noticed that Kristian was still far behind in catching up. Growling, Rin stomped her feet in annoyance that every time she tried to corner Kristian in a conversation, she became cornered herself. Every time she fought against Kristian in the past, she would lose and even now, as his girlfriend, she still lost to him. She wanted to hurt him verbally. She couldn't. She wanted to hurt him physically. That was not possibly either. Was there no way to hurt him for this terrible feeling he caused her? Hi Rin Hamada! At the cheerful voice, Rin turned over to meet the imaginative half-Filipino tennis plater under the name of Roselle Young. Roselle shared a couple of Rin's classes including AP US History and AP English Language. She was carrying her light, pink backpack on her back and an identical pink laptop case against her chest. She was beaming at Rin. Hello Roselle, said Rin softly. How are you? You're Rin Hamada, said Roselle, moving closer to Rin with wide eyes. You definitely study for the history test today! I did all night, said Rin, blinking. Help me please? asked Roselle, fluttering her long eyelashes at Rin. Because of meanie Coach, I had to spend extra time at home typing up my latest chapter! I didn't have enough time to study for history because I spent all that time studying for Physics instead!

Oh, said Rin, uninterested. She was on the lookout for Kristian after all. Don't be a meanie! cried Roselle, shaking Rin's arm desperately. We have five minutes before class. At least bombard me with likely test questions! I am good at cramming at the last minute! Please? Please? Okay, said Rin at last, turning her attention to Roselle. After you answer me this. The only subjects I'm good at are French, English, and Art History, said Roselle, blushing bright red under her tanned skin. I am no good at any other subjects! Please don't ask hard questions! No, it's not about school, said Rin quickly. Oh? asked Roselle, curious now. What is it Rin Hamada? You're a writer, said Rin, glancing away. So you should know how to answer this. Out with it! The suspense is getting to me! How do you hurt someone without physically hitting them or verbally killing them with insults? asked Rin, almost ashamed at her question. Are you serious? asked Roselle in awe. You're the pro at that! At what? My God, said Roselle, rolling her eyes. Did you like hit your head Rin Hamada? No, said Rin, embarrassed. Like I said, said Roselle, placing her arm across Rin's shoulder. You're a pro at it. What makes this person different from Jin Song? You do it to him all the time! That's it, said Rin, beaming. Thank you Roselle! No problem Rin Hamada, said Roselle, smiling. We're friends after all. Now about the study questions- Roselle watched as Rin ran up the stairs to her class. Wow. Did she just ditch me? Rin Hamada! What about my last-minute cramming? Wait up! ************************************ Where the hell are my subordinates? Hold your horses, Leader, said Wendy, laying her side against the bench and raising her eyes up at a furious Jezebelle during nutrition. You are not one to care if Spring and Jules go missing before. Can it be that you've been attached to their presence? What the fuck are you talking about? asked Jezebelle, throwing Wendy a threatening glance. I am not attached to those two weaklings. The reason is because Spring is supposed to tell me something very important regarding Shiratori! Shiratori? asked Wendy, lifting a brow. Oh man. You mean Kristian? Who else? asked Jezebelle, furious. Oh fuck, said Wendy, laughing hard and holding onto her stomach. He's funny as fuck man. Actually, he seems like your type, Leader. You have a crush on him don't you? Fuck no, said Jezebelle, placing a foot against the bench in front of Wendy and her hands against her hip. He's my rival I tell you. His group is a powerhouse among the Juniors. I want to mess with him for a bit that's all. And how exactly are you planning to do that, Leader? asked Wendy carefully. The key is with Spring, said Jezebelle, amused. Spring is too kind-hearted to do anything to Kristian, said Wendy with a sigh. If you're planning to use her to get to Kristian, that'll take too much effort I say. You will have to manipulate her like crazy. You will have to change the phrasing of your words and start up misunderstandings between her and Kristian. You, said Jezebelle, slapping Wendy's leg. Shut up. Dude, said Wendy, gazing at Jezebelle. Don't tell me to shut up. I can tell you to shut whenever I want, bitch, said Jezebelle, sticking her tongue. I shut up when I want to shut up, bitch, said Wendy, sitting up straight now. Knock it off, said Jezebelle, slapping Wendy's shoulder. Wendy laughed hard and

held onto her stomach again. Enough of this. Where's Spring and Jules? First, said Wendy, leaning toward Jezebelle in a seductive pose. Tell me about this plot you're stirring between Spring and Kristian. Slut, said Jezebelle, pushing Wendy away. It's easy. Spring is on good terms with Alejandro and apparently, Alejandro has information I want on Kristian. Oh man, said Wendy, wrapping her arms around Jezebelle's shoulder. So, in other words, you are asking Spring to wiggle out information on Kristian from Alejandro so you can use it against Kristian without getting your hands dirty at all? You pretty much summarize it, said Jezebelle, surprised. Oh mother fucker, said Wendy, grinning evilly and laughing. You are such a horrible person, you know that? Are you going to place the blame on Spring when the time comes? That's pretty cold-hearted, even for you Jesse. You keep getting ahead of yourself, said Jezebelle, smacking Wendy on the head. And you call me the horrible one? You're the one who makes up these theories! I'm only trying to think like you, you know, said Wendy, pouting. Well, you fail then loser, said Jezebelle, sighing. Spring is part of my group. There's no way I will make up any plans that might end up hurting her. The only person who is allowed to hurt Spring is me and me alone. Not even, you ho. Thanks, said Wendy sarcastically. Things always go my way, said Jezebelle, standing up straight now. There's no way I leave Spring on the short end of my plans because there are no short ends in the first place. Have more faith in your leader, will you? That's kind of hard, said Wendy, sticking out her tongue at Jezebelle. Stop messing around, said Jezebelle, pulling Wendy's hair slightly. Where are those two? They're like best friends or some shit like that. They must be together. Maybe if you listen to them more, said Wendy, checking her black fingernails. You'll know that Jules been wanting to join Math Club for a while now and I hear they're having a mandatory meeting today during nutrient. Nerd club? asked Jezebelle, gasping. She can't join a club like that! It'll ruin me! Dude, said Wendy, shaking her head. Stop being such a selfish whore for once and think about Jules for God's sake. If she wants to join Math Club, she's probably half-decent at math and wants to try out her abilities. You're coming with me, said Jezebelle angrily, dragging Wendy by the collar. Where the fuck is Math Club? How the hell should I know? asked Wendy with wide eyes. Do I look like a nerd to you? Are you blind Leader? You've been in this school longer than me so, said Jezebelle sighing. Never mind that. You're worthless anyway. You're dragging around a worthless person around, said Wendy, pointing out. I know, said Jezebelle, completely ignoring Wendy. In a matter of seconds, Jezebelle forced Wendy after her until they reached where the Killer Four usually hung out. However, Kristian was missing. There was only Gary and Cory who were playing cards. At the sight of Jezebelle, Cory shrieked and hid behind Gary for protection. Where's Math Club? asked Jezebelle, almost shrieking at those two. You're awful, said Cory, blushing bright red. Brat, said Jezebelle in a spat. Don't make me hit you! Easy now, Leader, said Wendy, holding Jezebelle back. I'll handle this. Yo Kristian's bitch. Cory dropped his head at the familiar nickname. We're not here to start a fight with your group. We just want to know where Math Club is taking place and yeah.

What happen to your clothes? asked Cory, frightened. You're not the same Wendy Wilshire I know from last year! She got dumped, said Jezebelle immediately, throwing a thumb at Wendy. I'm helping you here, said Wendy through gritted teeth at Jezebelle. I didn't ask for it? asked Jezebelle, smirking. So Cory, help a girl out will you? asked Wendy, returning her attention to Cory. Mrs. Wang is the sponsor, said Cory at last, still hiding. Thanks dude, said Wendy, throwing Cory a wink before dragging an irritated Jezebelle away. Come on now, Leader. I know where Mrs. Wang's room is. What's the matter with you now? You finally figured out you're not Miss Special? Shut up bitch, said Jezebelle, losing her temper. Wendy snickered at her. I wanted to take care of that kid myself. Why did you have to butt in like that and be nice to them? They're our rivals after all. Dude, you know that's not cool, said Wendy at last. What isn't? asked Jezebelle, annoyed. I mean sure I hate my ex and shit but I don't go hating all his friends. Then, why are you in this group? demanded Jezebelle at last. I don't know, said Wendy, shrugging. My point is I might hate Jordan but I won't drag Victoria and those other two girls into the equation even if our breakup were partly their fault. It's just not right you know? You're soft, said Jezebelle, amused. Despite how touch you act. Now, don't start up shit again, said Wendy, growling. I get you, girl, said Jezebelle, following Wendy to the classroom. If I am to tell you to follow me through thick and thin, heaven and hell, hot and cold, Jezebelle placed a hand firmly on Wendy's shoulder. You'll do it as long as I help you with Jordan right? Yeah, said Wendy with a smile. However, my hatred is toward Jordan only. I heard you the first time, said Jezebelle, eying the lines outside the classroom. What the hell is going on anyway? They're trying out for Math Club most likely, said Wendy, shrugging. Math Club are usually split between separate teams and separate grades. They're probably waiting in line to take the test to see if they have the right to membership. People are actually taking tests outside the classroom to join some nerd club? asked Jezebelle in disbelief. Even Math Club at my old school isn't this corny. Most of them are Koreans and Chinese, said Wendy, glancing at Jezebelle. You're part Korean aren't you? Shouldn't you like be stereotypical and show off your natural math skills while you're at? And get caught? asked Jezebelle in disbelief. No thank you, dear. I can understand Spring trying out, said Wendy softly. But why Jules? From what I gather, Jules is the one who wants to join the club the most. She's a rich girl, said Jezebelle, shaking her head. Shouldn't she act more like one? Rich girls don't go around joining geeky clubs do they? I don't know for shit, said Wendy, groaning and checking the lines for Juliet and Xuan Lan. How many rich girls do we actually know besides Jules anyway? Is it right for us to stereotype rich girls as being horrible at math? You didn't like me stereotyping you either. Stop being such a hypocrite. And again, you are ahead of yourself, said Jezebelle in retort. I'm just voicing my shock at this. I can't believe Subordinate Number One is interested in math. It's just not right. Why didn't you tell me earlier about this? Dude, said Wendy, angry. How am I supposed to know you hate math so much? Hello? asked Jezebelle, glaring at Wendy. Math is not cool. That should be enough

for you to report me about Jules' obsession with something so dorky. Does it matter now? asked Wendy, upset. Thanks for being useless like always, said Jezebelle, pushing her way through the lines of Asian girls. Like you're much better, said Wendy, rolling her eyes and pushing her way in as well. Soon, she caught Jezebelle glaring back at her. You know it's true, Leader. You should save your breath and not deny it. Found them! Close to the front door, Juliet was nervously fidgeting her hands and blushing bright red. On the other hand, Xuan Lan seemed excited at the idea of trying out for the club. Xuan Lan was happily humming the Meow Mix song again. Many times, Juliet tried to run away rather than try out but with Xuan Lan's encouragement, the older girl managed to stay in line long enough to almost reach the front door. Good luck Jules, said Xuan Lan happily, purring. T-Thanks... said Juliet, flushing bright red. You too... I hope Jesse's not mad at us, said Xuan Lan, tilting her head to the side. I hope so too... said Juliet, glancing away. She's understanding at times, said Xuan Lan, nodding happily. I mean she must know that we must wait in line to try out so we have to be here by the start of nutrient. Does she... said Juliet, moving closer to Xuan Lan. Know about us trying out... Poopie! cried Xuan Lan at the thought. This is not good... You two! shrieked Jezebelle, running over. Oy! At the exclamation, Wendy caught up to find Jezebelle pulling Xuan Lan's ear in a threatening manner. Juliet was so frightened that she hid behind Wendy for protection against her leader. Xuan Lan tried to escape Jezebelle hut her grip was too hard. In the end, Xuan Lan stopped struggling and peered up sadly at Jezebelle. We're almost inside, Jesse, said Xuan Lan with a pout. I don't care, said Jezebelle coldly. I need to know about the information on Shiratori you pick up from Alejandro now! Oh, said Xuan Lan with wide eyes. I'll tell you then. Good, said Jezebelle, satisfied. Now, out with it! If it isn't Jezebelle, said Tiffany emerging from inside the classroom at the sight of the four girls. Don't tell me you're actually here to try out for Math Club. Why am I not surprised you're part of Math Club? asked Jezebelle with a smirk. I have no time for you, said Tiffany, observing the other three girls quickly. I'm assuming you're the one whose interested in Math Club? Me? asked Xuan Lan, pointing at herself. Who else? asked Tiffany, impatient. Actually, said Xuan Lan, hopping over to Juliet and pulling her over to Tiffany. Jules is the one who wants to join Math Club. I'm here to support her! Right Jules? Yes... said Juliet shyly, glancing away. Are you sure you're up for it? asked Tiffany with a lifted brow. Are you underestimating a member of my group? asked Jezebelle suddenly, placing her hands on her hips in annoyance. Math Club does not discriminate against anyone, said Tiffany coldly. Not even your friends Jezebelle. Tiffany glanced at Juliet. Which math class are you currently in? D-Discreet math... said Juliet softly, blushing bright red. No freaking way, said Wendy in surprise, backing away from the ever reddening Juliet. What the hell is that? I never even heard of that!

That's why you're not trying out, loser, said Jezebelle through gritted teeth. Must I remind you I'm on your side? asked Wendy, also through gritted teeth. What a surprise, said Tiffany, observing Juliet from top to bottom. The lady-like girl held onto her belongings close to her chest. What ethnicity are you? You're not Asian are you? I'm Asian... said Juliet shyly. Holy, said Wendy, gasping. You're Asian? You're Asian too? asked Xuan Lan in surprise. You're fucking Asian? asked Jezebelle, almost fainting. Yes, said Juliet, afraid of her friends. I'm a mix of... everything. Oh, said Jezebelle and Wendy in unison. You're part Asian? asked Xuan Lan, tilting her head. I am, said Juliet, nodding. I am Asian, White, Hispanic, and a lot of other things. This is like blowing my mind, said Wendy, shivering. In any case, said Tiffany, coughing slightly. Come with me. What's your name? Juliet Heart, said Juliet under his breath. Please follow me inside, said Tiffany, widening the door for Juliet, who kept glancing back at her friends. What's the matter? Having second thoughts? Should I? asked Juliet carefully to her friends. Go for it Jules! cried Xuan Lan, beaming. Assa! Do what you want to do, girl, said Wendy with an encouraging smile. Show those Asians that you don't have to be full Asian to be as mathy as them, said Jezebelle, shocking the other two. Mathy? repeated Wendy with a lift of her brow. Shut up, said Jezebelle, glaring. Score a perfect on that stupid test Juliet! Thank you, said Juliet with a sweet smile before she went inside. You know, said Wendy, pulling Jezebelle and Xuan Lan out of the line. You sure are something Leader. One minute, you're bitching about not wanting Jules to take that damn test and then the next minute, you're encouraging her own. What's up with that? That's cause that Tiffany was looking down on me again, said Jezebelle, growling. She thinks Juliet is some rich girl who doesn't have any skills besides- Jezebelle paused. What skills do rich girls have anyway? I don't know, said Wendy, thinking. Horse-back riding? Yeah, that's it, said Jezebelle, nodding. Didn't someone make the exact same stereotyping against rich girls a few minutes ago? asked Wendy suspiciously. Now, you're changing face simply because you want to show Jules off to Tiffany Wu? You know what? asked Jezebelle, glaring at Wendy. You shouldn't be allowed to speak. What kind of co-leader picks on her leader's mistakes? A sexy one? I don't see any sexy girls around me. You two get along so well, said Xuan Lan happily, interrupting the two girls in front of her. Ashoo! I hope Jules do well on her test too! She deserves to be on the team! Oh right, said Jezebelle, noticing Xuan Lan. You're here. Hai, said Xuan Lan, nodding happily. You got the information I wanted right? asked Jezebelle with a devious smile. Hai, said Xuan Lan, nodding again. Let's hear it, said Jezebelle as the three girls headed back to their usual spot. I want to hear what happen between Shiratori and his ex-girlfriend. It's a pretty sad story, said Xuan Lan with a frown.

Even better, said Jezebelle, glancing at Wendy. Right Willis? I smell drama, said Wendy, smirking. Please do continue, Spring. Well... *************************************** Sleeping on top of his test paper, Kristian jerked awake at the bell signaling the end of second period and the start of nutrient. He quickly took out a pencil and marked random bubbles before he left it on the teacher's desk. Kristian scanned the area for someone short and relieved. However, when he spotted Rin, her back was to him and she was out the door. Hey Rin-chan! shouted Kristian after her. She continued down the hallway. Maybe she didn't hear me? Kristian ran after her and placed his arm across her shoulders. Hey Rin-chan. Did you miss me? Without glancing in his direction or saying a word, Rin removed Kristian's arm off her shoulders and went down the steps. Kristian gawked after her, surprised at her actions. Now, he had to trace back to the events that happen earlier today to figure out why she was so ticked off at him. He must have done something wrong. Hey Roselle, said Kristian, noticing the half-Filipino girl hurrying pass him and down the steps. She stopped and turned around. We haven't had a nice chat in a while. What's up? I'm sorry Kristian! cried Roselle, hugging her laptop case closer to her chest. I really need to get started on this chapter! I know, said Kristian, smiling at her. It'll only take a sec. You sure? asked Roselle, cocking her head to the side. Positive! What do you want to talk about? asked Roselle, climbing up the steps. Then, at the sight of his upset face, her eyes widened dramatically. I swear Kristian! I did not use your name for one of my characters! Chris and Kristian doesn't even sound the same! Writers are good with people right? asked Kristian wearily. I suppose, said Roselle slowly, gazing at Kristian suspiciously. We know more about human emotion than most people I guess... Right, said Kristian, licking his lips. And I've never been ignored before. I can see that, said Roselle, nodding. It's hard to ignore you. Why would anyone even bother? asked Kristian, frowning. There are lots of reason to ignore someone, said Roselle, blinking. How do you deal with something like that? asked Kristian, smiling sweetly. This is taking longer than I expected, said Roselle, groaning. Answer me, said Kristian in a deadly voice. Let's walk and talk, said Roselle, pointing down the stairs. Then, she elevated her eyes upward. A lot of people are asking for my help today... I wonder why... Really? asked Kristian curiously. Nothing! cried Roselle, laughing. It's nothing at all! Roselle spotted Jordan heading up the stairs on the other side. Hi there Jordan! Did you receive my e-mail regarding my latest- What are you talking about Roselle? asked Jordan nervously, cutting her off immediately and glancing at Kristian next to her with red cheeks. Why would we ever exchange e-mails in the first place? Your memory sucks, said Roselle in awe. The other day, you ask for my e-mail because you want me to- You're funny, said Jordan, laughing nervously. I'll see you during fifth period. What's with him? asked Roselle out loud, staring after Jordan. He's popular, said Kristian, smirking. There are some things he needs to lie about

to now lower his popularity. Even you must understand that Roselle. But, said Roselle, frowning. Is it safe to lie about your true self and feelings for the sake of your school reputation? I wonder... said Kristian, thinking about Rin. Meanwhile, Rin released a sigh of relief when she left the building. Even though she wanted to ignore Kristian, she couldn't help but glance backwards every few seconds to see if he even tried to chase her. Much to her disappointment, he did not seem to mind that she showed the cold shoulder to him. It probably did little to affect him. And she spent so much time thinking about how to pull it off so well too! It's not like I care, thought Rin to herself, walking automatically to the usual classroom. It's not like I'm disappointed that he's not chasing me down. No... not at all... Once Rin opened the door, she was shocked to find Bo grabbing a hold of her arm and dragging her to the nearest seat. Bo forced her to sit down and held her captive there with both his strong hands on her shoulder. Now, Rin was more troubled than ever because of the grin Bo had on his face. No, it was not his usual grin. It was his special grin, which usually foreshadowed that something was about to happen. What are you planning Bo? asked Rin, annoyed. She hated surprises. There, said Bo, leaving her side. You are now ready to go Jin. Why am I being tied up? asked Rin, struggling from being tied down to the chair. Bo you are taking this too far! What kind of friend are you? Rin-chan, said Jin in a sad voice. Rin noticed for the first time that Jin was sitting right behind her. I'm really sorry about yesterday. I know you so well that I know you would run off rather than listen to me explain myself so I have to ask someone for help. Bo! shrieked Rin. Give him a chance, Hamada-sama, said Bo with a grin. He explained it to me. I thought it was reasonable enough. If his explanation is reasonable in the first place, why did you have to tie me up then? asked Rin through gritted teeth. She does have a point, said Bo to Jin. Why did you ask me to tie her up? It was your idea, said Jin fiercely back at Bo. Oh yeah, said Bo, grinning. You have to admit- it was fun. What was so fun about it? asked Rin and Jin in unison. Wow, said Bo, staring at the two in awe. Soul mates! Shut up Bo! cried Rin and Jin in unison. Now that you two have turned against me, said Bo, untying the ropes around Rin's wrists. You can make up now. Go on Jin. Explain it to her without scaring her away. I'll listen, said Rin, glancing away. I'm really sorry for yesterday, said Jin softly, lowering his eyes to the ground. I know you're mad at me and you have a perfectly valid reason to stay mad at me for the rest of the year. But I really want you to know that you're irreplaceable to me. I am? asked Rin, turning her head around at Jin with wide eyes. I have known you since forever, Rin-chan, said Jin, keeping his eyes lowered. I know I don't give you any special treatment like Fi but that's only because you're like an older sister to me despite us having the same birthday. I can't express how much you mean to me because you're always there. A brother doesn't tell his sister that she means a lot to him does he? Is that the best you can do Jin? asked Bo curiously when he saw Rin running up and hugging Jin. Never mind. I wonder why Hamada-sama doesn't forgive me that easily... Rin tossed a glare back. You're a closet pervert! Is there anything I can do to convince you otherwise, Hamada-sama?

Bo, said Jin, shaking his head at his friend. You literally tied her to a chair. My good intentions are never appreciated around here, said Bo, sighing. What good intentions? asked Rin, smacking Bo across the head by jumping on top of the nearest desk. However, in returned, Bo hugged her. Eh Bo? What the? I'm happy to see you back to your usual self, my Queen, said Bo, bowing slightly. Does he ever get angry? asked Rin to Jin. I don't think he has that emotion adjusted into his brain, said Jin, frowning. I think he's a robot that's build to smile in every terrible situation in order to throw us off and then attack us in the middle of the night to steal our mangas! You're a bigger loser than he, said Rin, smacking Jin across the head now. Two names in one day, said Bo, thinking. Closet pervert and robot. Our group is- Bo threw his arms around both his friends. -finally back together! Rin-chan, said Jin, leaning toward Rin sadly. Does this mean you forgive me? Explain why you pick that bitch first, said Rin, remembering now. I know you don't see it, Rin-chan but, said Jin, frowning. Fi is a really sad person. Her father is on a continent across the ocean. Her mother's dead. She has no close family member living nearby. It doesn't seem like friends or ex boyfriends from her previous school care about her either. If she's stuck in a burning mansion, who will save her but me? Jin... said Rin, frowning. Why are you always searching for her positive qualities despite knowing how her personality is? That's simply, said Jin with a soft smile. I'm her boyfriend. Boyfriend... said Rin, thinking of Kristian all of a sudden. When you care about someone, said Jin, elevating his eyes to the ceiling. You want to be there for them no matter what. No matter how many bad sides they might have. No matter how many bad things they have done. You have to stick by them. But! cried Rin, grabbing a hold of Jin's arm. Let's say this girl has a boyfriend. Yeah? And her boyfriend is a flirtatious, arrogant, and insensitive jackass, said Rin, pulling onto Jin's sleeve harder. What should she do then? Screaming at him doesn't work. Insulting him doesn't work. Ignoring him doesn't work either. Has she tried understanding him? asked Jin curiously. Well... no... Then, said Jin, shaking his head. This girl sounds like a quitter to me. What do you mean by that? asked Rin, glaring at Jin. I'm just being blunt here, said Jin, holding his hands up defensively. She's a quitter because she sounds like someone who's just self-pitying herself and giving up on him without putting much effort at all. Even if he's like that? asked Rin in disbelief. Why did she go out with him in the first place then? asked Jin, lifting a brow. The simple question overwhelmed Rin completely. She did not know what to say. Unconsciously, she loosened her grip on Jin's sleeve and backed away from him slightly. Bo noticed this right away, but not Jin. At last, with all her courage, Rin continued. What if... said Rin softly. What if she's in your situation... Huh? asked Jin, blinking. What if she's in this relationship for reasons other than love? asked Rin carefully. I've never been in a relationship before, said Jin admittedly. But I know that for a relationship to work, there needs to be understanding on both sides. Even if I'm not with Fi out of love, I want to be there for her because that's what a boyfriend should do. And a girlfriend, said Rin lamely. Yeah, said Jin, nodding. I mean... isn't it kind of wrong to treat the other person

in a relationship badly just because you're not in love with them? Is it fair at all? None at all, said Rin, lowering her voice even more. Fi and I are not in love, said Jin in an assertive voice. But does that mean we shouldn't try to make the best out of the relationship while it's still there? What's the point of hurting each other by being in a loveless relationship when we can grow and learn new things together? Isn't that a much better use of the forced relationship? You're right again, said Rin with a deep sigh. I need to think... By the way, said Jin, watching Rin leave the room. Why are you asking about relationships? You usually hate talking about that stuff. And who is this girl? Is it an imaginary girl? Is this for a manga story you have in mind? No, said Rin, closing the door behind her. We're friends again and yet, said Jin, frowning. Something is different about Rinchan. It's like she's really depressed but not from our friendship. How are you able to be smart and dumb at the same time? asked Bo with a grin. Jin glared at him because his facial expression usually contradict his words. I must say though, my friend Jin, you have matured a lot after being paired up with Fi by your parents for a few day. It shows that a woman can really change you. Ignoring that comment, said Jin quickly. Shouldn't we go after Rin-chan? How about, said Bo, grinning. I go after Hamada-sama and you- Bo showed Jin a video game he hid behind his back -play this game I brought to school for you? Sweet, said Jin, distracted by the PSP game. Predictable, said Bo, leaving the room. Hamada-sama, if I predict you correctly, you're right next to the door where you know Jin can't see you correct? Shut up, said Rin, sitting besides the door. The girl you were talking about, said Bo, crouching down in front of Rin. Is you. What about it? asked Rin, glancing away. Hamada-sama didn't deny it, said Bo in awe. It's true! Bo, said Rin, sending him a warning look. What did Kristian do to you? asked Bo softly, placing a hand on her head. Whenever I rant, said Rin suddenly. Jin is the one who listens to me. You can't always rely on Jin, said Bo in a soft, caring tone. I'm pleasantly surprised that you didn't rant to him like always though. It's your favorite type of conversation with him after all, Hamada-sama. It just didn't come out at the time, said Rin, hugging her knees closer to her chest. This is serious then, said Bo calmly, admiring her baby face. He grinned at her thought. I know this is irrational of me to ask since Jin and I are so different but maybe... just perhaps... you can- I hate Kristian so much! You can't imagine how much I want to kill him, chop him into a million pieces, and dump them as fish food! So this is what it's like being Jin, said Bo, rubbing his chin thoughtfully while Rin went on. I like it! -and then I was giving him the cold shoulder but he didn't even care. Hamada-sama's ultimate weapon? asked Bo, taken back now. I'm sorry to doubt your words, Hamada-sama but nothing beats the cold shoulder. You perfected that since you met- Bo thought about it for a few seconds. -me actually. No, Bo, said Rin, narrowing her eyes at him. You did nothing but level it up. What am I saying? Jin's totally affecting my brain with his stupid video game talk! Glad to hear I leveled up your cold shoulder weapon, said Bo, grinning. It's not a weapon either, said Rin, grumbling. Never mind that. Ranting to you is not helping at all. All you do is ignore it and make fun of me, whether you're being

perverted or not. You're no good Bo. No one but Jin is good enough, said Bo, almost teasingly. Oh hush you, said Rin fiercely. Sad but true, said Bo with his unwavering grin. In any case, Kristian's not that bad. Sure, he's a Virgin-killer but he's a good person who means no harm to anyone. He just likes to fool around. You shouldn't be too serious with him. Now you tell me, said Rin, rolling her eyes. She held her lunch box out to Bo. Here. You can have it. I have more than enough food, said Bo quickly. It's tea, said Rin through gritted teeth. I made that stupid bastard tea because he helped me study all night but instead, he has to be such an ass. I hate him. If you don't want it, I'll throw it away. That's quite a waste, said Bo, clicking his tongue at her and accepting the lunch box. The bell rang right then. Rin ran off before Jin left the classroom, still mesmerized by the game. I wonder if it's safe to taste this tea since it's made for the person she wants to kill, chop up, and use as fish food. I love this game, said Jin, glowing in excitement. Yo Jin, said Bo with an innocent grin and a thermos at hand. Here's some delicious tea for you. You only drink coffee, said Jin loud and clear. Why do you have tea instead? Try some, said Bo, urging Jin on with the tea. Jin shrugged and drank a bit out of the thermos. Well? Do you feel dizzy or sick in any way? I swear I didn't poison it. It's sweet, said Jin, returning the thermos to Bo. Rin-chan style actually. I get it now. She made some for you didn't she? Doesn't she know you only drink coffee? She does, said Bo quickly, stopping and gazing at the thermos. Jin didn't notice since he was back to his PSP. Interesting. The tea is sweet after all. ***************************************** Rin Hamada decided that there must be something wrong with her today. After a couple of periods, she realized that avoiding Kristian was harder than she first imagined. He did not speak to her or greet her like before but whenever he came close, she ignored him. Even though he never open his lips, she felt something heavy in her chest every time she had to pull a cold shoulder at him. It did not help that she watched him more than usual. Today, he was even more talkative in class, both against the teacher and with his fellow students. Oddly, he seemed to be in a better relationship with Jordan than usually. As usual though, he stayed by Juliet's side to help her with various tasks. It never bothered Rin before but it did now. So Rin Hamada, said Roselle happily after the end of fifth period. Who's the unlucky person you've been ignoring all day? Jin again? You were talking to him a few minutes ago though... We're friends again, said Rin with a deep sigh. Wonderful, said Roselle, beaming. He'll probably be abused by bossy Yvette during tennis again so he's always so mentally prepare for it now! How close are you to Jin anyways, said Rin suspiciously. Not close at all, said Roselle, a bit too joyful for Rin's taste. He gave me a cool idea for a plot once. He's really a nice guy after all. To everybody actually. It's quite a shame he has a girlfriend now. Why? asked Rin skeptically. He can't help the rest of us out as much, said Roselle, sticking out her tongue. Anyways, thanks for your help today, said Rin with a nod. Roselle, said Jordan, coming up to Roselle from behind. He grabbed her arm with a

frown. We need to talk. Sorry, Rin Hamada, said Roselle, waving at Rin. I must excuse myself! Roselle Young and Jordan Greene? asked a couple of female students nearby. Rumors spread too easily in this school, said Rin, sighing and leaving for her last period of the day. Even though on the outside Rin said that, she did not feel like that on the inside. Roselle was probably one of the few girls Rin spoke too in a friendly manner. Most of the other girls of her grade made her angry and upset that women could sink so low. Even though it was unfair to call most of them whores, they really were. Rin would never associate with those kinds of people. And the sight of Roselle being with Jordan unnerved Rin. Then again, Rin frowned to realize that she might be the wrong one here. After all, she was like those girls who cared in the first place. Despite how many times she said she didn't like to be like them, she was similar in her thinking when people of different social status in school talked like that. What did Kristian think of this? During sixth period, Rin practiced with her baritone saxophone. She waved multiple times at Vance as he passed her by on his laps. Even though Jordan was not part of the track team, he also jogged in the field. Most likely, he got into trouble with his coach again. Rin didn't pity him though. Over the tennis courts, she noticed that Roselle was hiding behind a crying Joyce in order to type behind Coach's back. Xuan Lan was in a tennis court with Jezebelle, working hard like always. It seemed everyone found their place but her. After practice, Rin checked her time to see that it was two hours since the end of school. With her heavy textbooks and instrument case to take the sax home for the weekend, Rin walked by herself to the front gate. Right when she took a few steps outside the school, she heard a familiar voice behind her. Hey Rin-chan. Out of impulse, Rin turned around and faced Kristian sitting on the steps, staring at her with a bored expression on his face. Then, she remembered how he was unaffected by her tactics all day and changed her smile into a frown. Immediately, she pretended she did not hear that and faced the opposite direction. You must find it fun to play this silly game of yours, said Kristian in a low tone. Biting her lip, Rin ignored him and kept walking. This was the first time Kristian showed any sign of distress as he stood up and caught her arm, forcing her backwards into his chest. Rin tried hard not to show her frustration at him and simply moved away as ladylike as she could manage. However, she could not hold up her composure when she saw Kristian playfully licking his lips and smirking at her. You're good at this game, said Kristian, tightening his grip on her arm. Let's keep playing then. Kristian lowered his head over ear. Just to let you know- I hate to lose, Rinchan so I'll do anything it takes to win... After a loud shriek from Rin, everyone nearby watched Rin and Kristian at the front door. However, none of them seemed surprise at the struggle between the two as they went back to their original conversations. At last, Kristian stopped touching Rin in various places as he gazed at his hand in shock. Rin-chan, you- You pervert, said Rin, hugging her arms to her chest. Must. Resist. Temptation. Temptation? asked Rin with wide eyes. Get away from me! That didn't take long to get a response out of you, said Kristian proudly. You lost your game, Rin-chan. Victory goes to Shiratori-sama. That's because you touched me in all the wrong places, said Rin furiously. Now, I know why you're always wearing that thick sweater of yours all the time,

said Kristian, amused. I can't believe I didn't notice what you've been hiding all this time even when you're in your home clothes. I hate you, said Rin angrily. You sick pervert! You were the one wriggling and making me accidentally touch the wrong areas, said Kristian, annoyed. When he saw Rin glanced away, he softened his expression. Come on now, Rin-chan. Since you're talking to me again, tell me what's wrong. I mean I figure it out anyway. You did? asked Rin in complete surprise. Who knew you were so against our little secret? asked Kristian with a carefree shrug. You should have said so and we wouldn't have a problem in the first place. I didn't have to suffer from my girlfriend ignoring me for five periods. What secret? asked Rin in a demand. You know- about our relationship. Are you telling me that- Hi KrisRin, greeted Roselle, passing by the two on her way to her mother's car. Rin dropped her jaw at Roselle, who giggled and went inside her car. Bye KrisRin. Did she just call us 'KrisRin'? asked Rin, paling dramatic. She's not the only one, said Kristian, shrugging. There are also other names floating around like 'Shirada' and 'Jap Ship'. You said you'll keep it a secret, cried Rin, hiding her head against her arm. I thought you were ignoring me because of that, said Kristian, lost. So I told everybody I know about us. I even told Taffy Tiffy so she could spread it wide and far. Let me guess- Kristian smiled weakly. Judging from your response, that wasn't the problem was it? Baka, said Rin, groaning. Now, I'm stuck as KrisRin and it doesn't help that we have five classes together. This is all your fault! Technically, said Kristian smoothly. It was your fault for ignoring me. Boys don't think. We just assume things and do crap out of impulse. Rin looked like she want to hit Kristian in the head with her instrument case. So... what was the real problem? How can you ask that in such a carefree manner? What's done is done, said Kristian, apathetic. Rin sighed loudly. There's nothing you can do about it, right Rin-chan? The problem, said Rin, sighing. It doesn't matter anymore. That's not right, said Kristian, irritated. Rin gasped as he held onto her shoulders with hard eyes. You fucking ignore me for most of the day so far and you're saying that the real reason doesn't matter anymore? Are you kidding me? You hurt my pride and there's not even a real reason why? You hurt my pride too, said Rin fiercely back. You're not the only who's hurt! Rin-chan, said Kristian, releasing his grip on her shoulders. I hate to tell you this because you've never been in a relationship before but, Kristian glanced away, almost embarrassed. I do a lot of careless things that can easily hurt a girl. But the thing is I don't see it myself so you'll have to tell me about it or else, I'll stay ignorant forever. You're lying, said Rin, frowning. You have many girlfriends before and they're still in love with you until this day. You must have done something right! I know it's shocking but, said Kristian, licking his lips. I'm not perfect. Wow, said Rin, gawking at him. You're admitting that now? Overlooking your insult, said Kristian with a smile. I do know what to say to a girl. But I guess you're different somehow. You don't really fit my type of girl you know. You're like the oddball of the group and it's hard to deal with it. I'm supposed to be the one manipulating your emotions, not the other way around.

I'm not apologizing, said Rin quickly. I don't either, said Kristian with a determined nod. So, how does this work? asked Rin, flushing brightly. I'm not sure, said Kristian, feeling awkward. Usually, the girl runs and cries to me by now, apologizing like a million times. That's never going to happen here, said Rin, amused. I saw that coming, said Kristian, almost amused. Now, I know exactly what to wish for my seventeenth birthday. Modesty? asked Rin, laughing softly. No, said Kristian, laughing along with her. Since I can't say sorry, I'm going to wish for Rin-chan to learn how to so she can be cute and apologize to me from now on so this never happens again. You're awful, said Rin, pushing him against the shoulder. Still, you really do know what to say to a girl. I feel a lot better now. I feel a lot better thanks to your tea too, said Kristian, licking his lips again. That was the sweetest tea I tasted in a long time. For a spoiled brat, you at least have one skill to be proud of. I poisoned it, said Rin with a pout. Maybe that's why it's so sweet, said Kristian, smirking. That must be it. Let's hurry to your house then, said Kristian, pointing at the sidewalks. You must make me more of your poisonous, addicting tea. I'm sure that I'll die because I lack poison now that I've tasted that sweet stuff. You're staying over anyways, said Rin, shrugging. Let's go then. One second, said Kristian, placing a hand on her shoulder and lowering his head to kiss her lightly on the lips. Rin flushed bright red. Now, you have some of my poison too. If you stop kissing me, you'll die. Very funny, said Rin, dismissing it quickly. Rin-chan, said Kristian, removing the textbooks from her arms and carrying them for her. He leaned down toward her. I want to be your favorite hello and your hardest goodbye. Will you accept me? We'll see, said Rin, giving him a safe answer. As poisonous as always, Rin-chan. Arriving at her house, Rin rung the doorbell for her mother. However, the one who answered the door wasn't her mother. Rin gaped at the sight of Bo and Jin smiling at her. Kristian almost ran away when he saw her two best friends. Unfortunately, Bo was a lot stronger than Kristian. The poor Japanese male was dragged inside before Rin. We heard from your mother, said Bo with a grin. That Kristian is staying for the whole weekend. So we thought, said Jin, smiling. We sleep over too. It's been a while since I stayed at your house overnight eh Rin-chan? Don't ask why I'm here, said a grouchy Jezebelle from the kitchen. What the hell? asked Kristian, hitting his head against the nearest wall. I'm going to be sick, said Rin, climbing the stairs to her room. You guys, said Kristian through gritted teeth at Jin and Bo. This is fun, said Jin to Bo. Funner than I imagine, said Bo happily. Two girls and three guys. Make it four, said Vance, walking in through the already open front door and sitting down next to Jezebelle. He was still dressed in his track clothes. The other three boys gaped at him. Rin just sent me an urgent text. I guess I'm staying over too.
