Poetry Unit
Essential Questions What is poetry? What purpose does poetry serve? How does poetry function? How can the same poem have different effects in different contexts? What makes poetry effective? What do poets consider when writing? How do I analyze a poem? Enduring Understandings Poetry is not a simple, pre-formatted activity; it is complex, multifaceted, and difficult to define. There are many, many different kinds of poetry. Poetry has had different functions/value in different societies. Writing poetry is an opportunity to be extremely creative.
