FIFTH SUNDAY OF EASTERAs I have loved you, so you also should love one another. (John 13:34) The love we have
SUCCESSA big thank you to the parish for helping the Con-
firmation Youth with the sunglasses project. We were able to turn over 207 pairs of glasses! To think that we can make a difference to 207 people with so little effort truly brings home Mother Teresa's quote, "Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love." You have all helped us make a change in the lives of 207 mothers, fathers and children. I see sunglasses in an entirely different way since we have done this project.
known through Jesus Christ is the most profound and unconditional divine gesture. This love accepts us in our iniquity and offers the first step toward reconciliation; it is a hopeful love that sees not what we have done but the best we are capable of . It sees in us our God-given beauty and dignity, even if we are unaware of this ourselves; thus, it is a joyful love that celebrates the life and spirit of each of us. Above all, it is an enduring love, a love that never fails and remains with us through thick and thin as a lifeline of grace. The love of God in Jesus Christ, the cause and culmination of his self-gift, continues to surround us in the genuine relationships we share with others. To love as Jesus did, not only binds us to one another, also evokes the Holy Spirit in our midst.
BE MY DISCIPLESThis past week there was a series of meetings introducing the new Religious Education Program Be My Disciple. It is very exciting to be able to welcome this new program for the various levels of our childrens religious formati on. There is also a need for formation and information sharing for the parents. In order for a program in religious education to be successful, it requires that formation and the practices of the faith be recognized and held as a priority to the parents, wh o pass it along to the family. That practicing the faith and living out that faith is something which includes the whole family. This new program offers great hope in this area. With regard to the New Evangelization, this new program holds great potential for our local Church and for our parish family. My hope and desire is that we take this step in our Catholic Formation serious it is not just about the children in Religious Education but rather, about all of us growing as a parish family.
tion on the new Religious Education program that we will begin in the fall. I am very excited and pleased with the program. It will allow parents to take a more active role in the faith development of their children, and the catechist's will enjoy having books that are bright, colorful, and very user friendly. This will help with the faith formation of children in today's world .

MARRIAGE REFLECTION DAYOn Saturday, May 11 we have been asked to co-sponsor a reflection day on Marriage with St.
Thomas Aquinas and Canadian Martyrs Parish. We require some people to assist if they are able with set-up on Friday evening (May 10 at Canadian Martyrs as well as assisting with registration on the Day of Reflection. Please call the parish office if you are able to help out with these two areas. The other part of this is to invite married couples to attend this Day of Reflection beginning with mass at 8:30 am and going until 3:00pm.
RENEWAL OF MARRIAGE VOWS & CELEBRATION OF THE FAMILY On Wednesday, May 15 we will be celebrating a special
mass at 7pm with renewal of marriage vows, followed by a reception in the parish hall, to celebrate family life. While we are all invited to gather for this celebration, I would invite those who wish to renew their marriage vows at this mass to call the parish office and let Sister Teresa know. Lets gather as a parish and celebrate the gift of family life during this special week fo r Family Life & Marriage.
PREAUTHORIZED DEBITThe diocese has contracted with the Bank of Montreal, to provide a diocesan wide means for electronic payment by parish donors. This would allow each parish to participate in an electronic remittance plan. The forms for participating in PAD are attached to the bulletin and so if you are interested in this type of regular offering please complete the form and either place it in the collection basket or drop it by the office (Please note we will require a voided cheque with the completed form). You should note that the remittance occurs on the 15th of the month and so it is a monthly donation and not a weekly donation. The benefits to this choice of donation is that you are able to donate regularly even if you are absent from the parish or you forget your envelope at home. If you have any questions please feel free to contact the parish office or the diocesan office. You generosity allows us to function as a parish!
Baptism: Please contact Fr. Gerald or the parish office to arrange preparation. Marriage: Please contact Fr. Gerald at least 6-months in advance. Tentative dates can be booked with the parish office, but cannot be confirmed until you meet with the pastor.
