3. Just like The Hinger Games, catching Fire takes place in Katniss and Peetas home, district twelve, the capital and the hunger games arena. 1. The main character in the book is Katniss. The other main characters are Peeta, Gale, Haymitch, Cinna, Haymitch, Abemathy and President Snow. Protagonist: Katniss Antagonist: President Snow 2. The districts are rebelling because of Katniss performance in the games. President snow visits Katniss to warn her not to stir people up any more and puts Katniss back into the hunger games arena. The main conflict in the book is not yet resolved. 3. Some of the subplots in the book include the love triangle between Katniss with Peeta and Gale and the confusion she has between them. 4. I believe Suzanne wrote this book to inform the younger generations about government tyranny and the power we have to stop it. 5. I. The book begins with Katniss in her new victor mansion in district twelve, not talking much to Peeta. II. We learn that Gale, who Katniss also hasnt been talking to much has become a minor. III. The new security guards are more strict, likely to prevent a rebellion. IV. Katniss is visited by president Snow who warns her about keeping the people quiet. He threatens to hurt of kill the people she cares about. V. Katniss tries to go hunting but finds the electricity has been

returned working and the electric fence is working. VI. Gale tries to sell a squirrel to a former security guard but is whipped because of it. VII. The 75th quarter quell of the Hunger Games is about to begin.

VIII. It is announced that the male and female tributes will be ones that were in the games previously (and won, obviously). IX. Katniss and Peeta return to the games. Haymitch is called but Peeta takes his place. X. Katniss makes a deal with Haymitch that he has to help keep Peeta alive this time. XI. They return to the capital and meet the other tributes including Finnick. XII. Haymitch recommends that they form a group for this hunger games. XIII. They go into training just like before. In the interviews Katniss and Peeta both score higher than any other contestants. XIV. During their interview Peeta lies and says he is married to Katniss and she is pregnant. XV. Cinna is beaten because of the costume choice for Peeta and Katniss. XVI. The games begin on an island. XVII. They team up with Finnick XVIII. During the games they discover the way the arena is laid out and timed like a clock, they know when disasters will happen. XIX. They come up with a plan to destroy the arenas connection to the capital. They use a timed lightning bolt to blow it up. XX. Katniss wakes up in an aircraft with many other tributes and leaders but not Peeta. XXI. We learn that district 13 is still around after all. People from

there are planning a rebellion. They want to keep Katniss alive because she is the main motivation for the rebels. XXII. Gale is on the aircraft, he gently breaks the news to Katniss that her home district has been destroyed.

1. My reaction to this book was surprised, as I did not expect them to return to the hunger games, or for many other things to happen for that matter. I chose this book because I, of course like this series a lot from the first book and movie. I really enjoyed the book. I especially like the way Suzanne Collins is able to keep us interested in the story. It is brilliantly written to keep the readers attention and keep us caring about the characters in the story. The way Katniss returns with the capital oppressing all of its people shows just how scared a single girl like her can make them. It shows how broken their system is. It is based on obedience, which they most likely arent going to have for much longer. It simply builds on the way the government is so messed up. Lying to the people, forcing previous victors to fight again (likely in efforts to get rid of Katniss), the way they purposely make some people mine materials having little to eat while giving others plenty of food to eat and even luxury and of course themselves, everything they can to give themselves the most luxurious lifestyle. I left out the way Katniss mockingjay symbol is becoming the symbol for the rebellion. I think that was a cool way to incorporate it to the series because it seemed pretty insignificant to the first book. I hope to read the next book soon and find out what happens with this rebellion. I want Peeta to be alright and Katniss family to be saved also. I definitely recommend this book just like the Hunger Games and will probably recommend Mockingjay.
