The college I chose was Yale University. This private institution is urban in New Haven Connecticut.

The beginning of my college all started when colonial clergymen tried to establish a college in New Haven during the 1640s. This was an effort to keep the tradition of European liberal education in the New World which was accomplished in 1701. The school was renamed as Yale College after Elihu Yale. This Welsh merchant had donated nine bales of goods with 417 books and a portrait of King George I. The college survived the American Revolution (1775-1783) and grew rapidly, especially in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The history can be seen from all (but more than) 260 buildings, each from a different time period. The campus stretches from the School of Nursing in downtown New Haven to the Divinity School. This covers nearly 310 acres. Yales new West Campus is located seven miles west of downtown New Haven on 136 acres. It was acquired in 2007 with 1.6 million square feet of research, office, and warehouse space that provides opportunities to enhance the Universitys medical and scientific research as well as other academic programs. It is said to have the most beautiful urban campus in America. Yale has 11,000 students from fifty American states and 108 different countries. International students make up nine percent of the undergraduate student body and sixteen percent of all students at the University. There are 3,200 faculty members in the University. More than 2,000 undergraduate courses in the liberal arts and sciences are offered each year by over sixty-five departments and programs, forming a curriculum of remarkable breadth and depth. Yale is comprised of the College, the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, and thirteen professional schools. The professional schools are famous for the high ranked Law School and highly ranked School of Management, School of Medicine, School of Art, and School of Nursing. School of Drama, School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, and Divinity School are well-regarded graduate programs. This university is known for its outstanding drama and music programs which goes a long way. Beyond the classroom, drama and music goes to student organizations such as the famous capella group called the Yale Whiffenpoofs. Another organization would be the exceptional Yale Dramatic Association. For sports programs, the Yale Bulldogs are recognized as competitive with their huge rivalry against Harvard. They compete in the Ivy League as well. There are many reasons I would want to go to Yale and one of them is its Law School. I consider it a long-shot dream to attend this top ranked and professional class, let alone be accepted into this college. I think it would also be a great environment to study in with many classes that have fewer than twenty students. Believing that this would help me understand the information given, I could excel in this area tremendously. This is not only because Im used to small classes, but also because I would receive more guidance from a less-occupied professor. I am also interested in Yales School highly ranked School of Medicine, which is another one of my interests for a career. Science has always been one of my favorite subjects and with Yale being such a small, but excessive, research university, it definitely makes one of my top choices. Since I want to be a cardiologist and there are many competitive doctors for a career like this, I would prefer to go to Yale for the best education.
