EU and European Standards Organizations are strengthening the links between research/innovation and standardization o For example, the European Commission states in regard to the EU 2020 Strategy1 that Standards play an important role for innovation Standardization strategy should be defined already at the beginning of the research and innovation process o and not in the end! Research and standardization should go hand in hand (Integrated Approach)
2013 DIN e. V. 5
Development of new tools and methodologies to support the Horizon 2020 community in standardization
1Europe
Project duration: Jan 2013 to Dec 2014 Coordinated by DIN and funded by the European Commission and EFTA Initiative to promote the Integrated Approach and provide tools and methodologies that can be used and implemented by all interested stakeholders
Overall goal: to maximize the economic and social benefit of new ideas and technologies To bring NSBs and the research & innovation community together, and to foster the collaboration between NSBs
2013 DIN e. V. 7
Disseminating the evidence of the correlation between standardization and innovation, Demonstrating the best practices in Europe, and
Transferring the idea of the Integrated Approach to the research actors in Europe as strategic approach for innovation.
