Philosophy of the Athletic Program

Similarly, encourage the young men to be self-controlled. In everything, set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness, and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us. Titus 2: 6-8
As a classical Christian school we represent more than our school, families, or even ourselves. We represent Christ. The faculty, coaches, and players must take this responsibility very seriously. Our goal is to provide programs that enrich the students experience at school/home while at the same time producing honorable and confident leaders. Participating in athletics is a privilege, not a right. Student-athletes must be able to balance the time between practices and homework. The athletic director and coaches are committed to seeing success in the classroom/satellite classroom as well as at practice. Our goal is to provide activities that enhance the learning experience, not detract from it. In competition there are inevitably winners and losers. It is important that we are as graceful in defeat as we are in victory. Coaches will not be picked based on their win-loss record, but rather on their ability to model and teach good character. Parents and fans are expected to be supportive of officials, the opposing team, coaches, and other fans. We want to be such an example that schools want to play us just for the positive experience and atmosphere. Students and coaches who participate in our athletic program will have to abide by a code of conduct. Failure to adhere to these rules will result in disciplinary action, including the possibility of dismissal from the team.

At Gods footstool to confess, A poor soul knelt and bowed his head I failed. He cried. The Master said, Thou didst thy best, that is success Author Unknown

Requirements
The athletic program is for CP students and homeschoolers in grades 7-12. All athletes must have medical release forms turned in before the first game. Sports physicals are highly recommended for the safety of your child . All athletes must pay a $125/$175 athletic fee and a $75 refundable uniform fee (if applicable) per sport before they are allowed to play in games. All athletes must maintain a 2.0 overall GPA at the end of each grading period. If homeschooled, students must submit a copy of their standardized test score (above the 23rd percentile), curriculum list, and/or semester grades (portfolio). All athletes who are enrolled must be in good standing with Covenant Preparatory School. Current physical form on file Transportation to/from practices or games is the responsibility of the parent unless other arrangements have been made. Please notify the AD/coach of any changes.

Regulations
Practice and game schedules will be determined by the athletic director/coach(es). Any team member who quits the team for any reason is automatically suspended from that sport the following year. (This suspension can be lifted by the athletic director/coach(es).) If a coach or athlete is ejected from a game, he/she will be automatically suspended for the next game unless that suspension is appealed and overturned by the Athletic Director. All coaches may suspend players at their discretion and will be supported by the athletic department. Athletes are required to attend every practice, game, and team meeting. Failure to attend these functions may result in disciplinary action decided by the coaching staff. As an athlete, you are expected to participate in practice exercises (running, stretching, laps, etc.) as directed by the coach.

Mission of Covenant Prep

Covenant Preparatory School exists as a Christ-centered, blended school model committed to an authentic classical Christian education stressing the fundamentals of spiritual development, academics, and community outreach.

Statement of Faith of Covenant Prep

We believe: There is one sovereign God in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. There is one book of truth: the Bible. It is Gods written revelation to man, authoritative, re liable, inerrant and without need of any other document(s) to complete its message. It is the only standard by which faith and practice are to be measured. The chief end of man is to glorify God and enjoy him forever. Man is created in the image of God. Through his relationship to Adam, man is a sinner by nature and does himself sin. He is thus alienated from God, his neighbor, and the world. All are sinners. Jesus Christ is the only Savior of sinners, the only way to the Father. He died as a substitute for sinners and was raised from the dead so that they might be reconciled to God. Eternal life is a free gift that is received through faith in Jesus alone. Eternal life is neither deserved by anyone, nor can it be earned by good deeds. There is one body: the church, with its many parts acting in unison.
