READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS COMPLETELY BEFORE BEGINNING THE REMOVAL OF YOUR PUMP.

BISON PUMPS QUICK DISCONNECT PUMP HEAD REMOVAL INSTRUCTIONS

(THIS MAY REQUIRE TWO PEOPLE) STEP 1 Remove the two bolts at the base of the quick disconnect fitting. STEP 2 If connected, unhook the stainless steel s-hook from the pump handle. STEP 3 Firmly grasp the pump spout with your left hand and grasp the tee of the pump with your right hand and turn the pump head turn counter clockwise until it comes to a stop. (Note: The pump will only turn - of an inch.) STEP 4 With your left hand on the spout and your right hand around the tee of the pump head, raise the entire pump head straight up. As you do this, the handle will raise and come to a stop when it is all the way in the up position. (Note: Depending on the number of 3/8 stainless steel rods, this step may require two people.) Continue to raise the pump head, and as you do, the 3/8 lift rod will begin to raise up out of the top of the quick disconnect fitting. Raise the pump head until you completely expose the 3/8 quick disconnect fitting on the 3/8 stainless steel lift rod. As you do this, water will probably flow out of the top of the quick disconnect fitting. This is normal. STEP 5 - After the 3/8 rod quick disconnect fitting is completely exposed above the top of the pump head quick disconnect, a second person can firmly clamp a pair of vice grips around the 3/8 stainless rod and let the rod and pump head slowly lower down until the vice grips rest on top of the quick disconnect fitting on the well cap. STEP 6 - One person can steady the pump head while the second person can loosen the set screw on the quick disconnect sleeve and push the sleeve upward to disengage the two halves of the rod quick disconnect fitting, allowing the pump and rod to be lifted free from the coupling. The pump head is now removed and can be placed in storage until needed.

STEP 7 - Use the 3/8 stainless t-bar rod retrieval tool and engage the tool in the half of the 3/8 rod that is being supported by the vice grips of the 3/8 rod quick disconnect.

STEP 8 With one hand on the vice grips and the other hand holding firmly on to the t-bar end of the rod retrieval tool, disconnect the vice grips and slowly lower the 3/8 rod and quick disconnect down inside the piping. When the rod comes to a stop, disengage the retrieval tool and store in a safe place with the pump head.

STEP 9 - Take the quick disconnect cap provided with your pump package and place it on top of the quick disconnect receiver that is on top of the well cap. Turn the cap clockwise until the pins line up and the cap will easily drop down and come to a stop. With a turn clockwise rotation, the cap will lock in place and the two stainless tabs on the side of the cap will rest against the two stainless tabs of the receiver.

STEP 10 - Now the two bolts can be re-installed that were removed in STEP 1. (Or a paddle lock can be used to provide secure locking of the cap.)

The removal is now complete. Follow this procedure in reverse to re-install the pump head.
