lesson? It is important to be able to read for understanding so that we can gain knowledge. In this lesson, we need to gain more knowledge about life during WW2 because you will need to know it for the 7th grade. What will I do to show students what is expected? I will follow along in my book as the Audio is playing. This way students can see what is expected of them. What will we do together as they learn how to succeed at the new task?

connect more to the main character in the story. They can also ask their grandparents if they recall any interesting facts about the Holocaust or WW2. Students and parents will be informed about the Holocaust display that is free to the public at the Jewish Community Center. Here, students will be able to take a journey through the lives of many Jewish families. How is technology meaningful to this lesson? How do you plan to use implement student used technology during the lesson? Technology is very meaningful to this lesson because the Audio Text of the book is used as the children follow along in their novels. A CD player is used to play the Audio book. What activities do you plan to implement to connect your lesson across the curriculum to all 7 content areas? -Social Studies-Students will discover what life is like for Jews during WW2 -Science- Students will discuss how hunger, and sleep deprivation played a role in the illnesses of many Jewish people. -Math- Students will discover the number of Jews that were captured, taken to concentration camps, and killed. -Music-Students will hear music popular during the time of WW2 as the Audio book is playing. PART III IMPLEMENTATION What worked for you during the lesson? What did not work? What changes would you make when you teach this lesson again to make it more effective? This lesson was an absolute success. Students found the joke at the beginning of the lesson to be quite humorous. This intrigued the students and got them hooked on the lesson. Having an audio book for the students to listen to as they followed along was a great idea. It helped the students follow along easier, and it also gave them a great example of reading fluently. Students seemed to be very engaged in the audio text. They were able to respond to questions that checked for their understanding. Some students were even sad when the book was over. They enjoyed reading about the lives of Jews during WW2. To make the lesson more effective however, I would stop though out the book and do book activities. I believe this would help me asses each individuals level of understanding more accurately. Though I plan to do some activities at the end of the novel, incorporating some throughout would not be a bad idea. It may make the lesson more effective. Overall however, I think the lesson was a success and the children learned.
