Let them discuss

Aim/Purpose
To explain M/F/P of vocabulary that will be used during the next tasks.

Procedure
Pre-teach words: elicit words, drill, write on the board and show word stress. Tourist attractions Are we in Canada now? (no) -Lets go there, imagine we are in Canada; Are we Canadians? (no) -We are TOURISTS What do tourists visit? -TOURIST ATTRACTIONS Climate (noun) Show them pictures of different places an climates, ask: Is this place, hot or cold? And this one? What is different between these places? -The CLIMATE Busy (adj.) Point to the beach and ask: Would you go there? And here? (show them the pic. of a busy beach) Why not? Because this beach is BUSY

Procedure
Ask them where we are going to travel to. Refer them to the City Factfile: Toronto Let them read. Tell them theres something missing. Refer to ex. 10 Ask them to complete the factfile in pairs.

Aim/Purpose
To clarify possible doubts on linkers and to have ss able to write a city factfile themselves.

Procedure
Show them the picture of the CN Tower. Ask them if they know what there is there. Lets get inside! (show the closer picture) Show them the sentences and give them examples on how to join the sentences. Ask what the qualities of Toronto are in order to talk about adjectives. Ask them where AND is supposed to be placed. (between the adjectives) Refer ss to ex. 12 and ask them to join the sentences in pairs but saying that it wont be necessary to write, only discussion. feedback

Aim/Purpose

Procedure
1. Give students the factfile sheet. 2. Tell them now to choose a city and write about it following the sections that are already in the sheet, e.g. Location, Climate... Teacher monitors ss and helps them in their task if necessary. Make sure they get it right before asking them to present. After they are done, ask them to read about their cities without saying which city it is. The other ss are supposed to guess. Feedback
