Liars Dice Quick Start

Object: Each round begins with an opening bid, continues as players raise the bid, and ends after a bid is challenged and the challenge is resolved. A bid is a claim that a certain number of all yellow dice in play are showing the same number, or a Wild Star. Players bid on whats showing on their own dice and on all other yellow dice in play. A challenge is a claim that the current bid is too high. You lose dice as a result of challenges in 3 ways (see below). Rounds continue until 1 player wins by being the only one left with dice. Setup: 1) Each player takes a dice cup and 5 yellow dice. 2) Choose a player to make an opening bid in the 1st round of play. (In all following rounds, the winner of the challenge in the previous round opens the bidding). 3) Place the red dice next to the board. (This is placed on the bidding track by each player who declares a bid). How to Play: 4 steps to every round of play 1) All players roll and hide their dice. All players shake all of their dice in the cup & place it upside down over the dice to hide them. You may peek at your dice as often as youd like. 2) Start player declares the opening bid. Declare any amount of one number (or Wild Stars) as your opening bid, even if you didnt roll them. The player on your left will have the opportunity to challenge it. There are 2 kinds of bids: a) Number bid = # of all dice in play showing a particular number (say 5) + Wild Stars (place the red die with that number (a 5) showing on the un-starred space of your bid number on the board). b) Wild Star bid = # of dice in play showing a Wild Star (place the red die with the Star showing on the appropriate starred space on the board. 3) Players in turn raise the bid until a bid is challenged. Play continues to the left, with each player either a) raising the current bid, or b) challenge the bid. No passing allowed. a) Raise the bid: 1 of 3 ways i) Keep the red die on the same bidding space, and show a higher number on top ii) Move the red die clockwise to any higher # bid space, & show any # on top iii) Move the red die clockwise to any Wild Star bid space, & show the Star on top (immediately after the bid, you may show and reroll, by placing 1 or more dice outside your cup, the reroll & hide all your remaining dice may improve chances. Must have at least 1 left). b) Challenge the bid: If you dont believe there are enough yellow dice in play to support the current bid, on your turn only, you may challenge the bid as explained below. 4) Resolve the challenge and end the round. All players lift their cups & count all dice in play that match the bid # or Wild Star for number bids, only Wild Stars for Wild Star bids. Determine who loses the challenge: a) Actual > bid, then the challenger loses the challenge b) Actual < bid, then the bidder loses the challenge c) Actual = bid, then everyone, except the bidder loses the challenge When you lose, you lose the difference between the bid and the actual amount of bid dice. If the bid was exactly equal, the everyone except the bidder loses 1 die. Place lost dice in the middle of the board they are out of play for the rest of the game. Game End: When you lose all of your dice, youre out of the game. The other players continue playing until only 1 player is left. This player wins the game.
