it is no longer I who live, but

Christ lives in me Galatians 2:20b

AS I HAVE SEEN MANY OF YOU, YOU
HAVE ASKED HOW THINGS ARE GOING
WITH MY NEW JOB. THE QUESTION
IN ITSELF CAUSES ME TO PAUSE AND
THINK ABOUT THE WORD JOB.
The truth is, other than leaving the house
in the morning and coming home in the
evening, it doesnt feel like a job! I have
had many jobs in my life and I know what
a job is. Serving here at CFT is not like any
job I have ever had. It is a daily opportunity
to grow into who God has already created
me to be; and that is to be a container and
expresser of His life!
Christian Families Today is a safe place
to be. Here at CFT we all have our own
unique personalities, talents and skills,
learning styles, etc However, we all have
one thing in common, we love experiencing
Christs life and sharing that life with anyone
who will listen. CFT is a non-proft ministry
that is conscientious about ethical and moral
business practices, but they operate day to
day with a ministry mind-set. CFT is not
focused on surviving, but rather on every
opportunity God gives us to share Christ and
His life. We are fully aware of Gods calling
and His promises.
You may be already getting the sense that
life is the theme around here. Jesus said in
John 10:10 that He came to give abundant
life. As we talk to people on a daily basis,
we are aware of the lack of life they are
experiencing. Most people try to get their
needs met through relationships, stuff, and
circumstances. None of these give abundant
life. Life can only be experienced through a
relationship with Christ. This core mes-
sage is relayed to others through individual,
couples, and family counseling. We offer
a college level course we call Advanced
Discipleship Training (ADT) that starts in
January and goes through November. We
also present a two-day seminar called Grow
in Grace four times a year. This year we
started a 14-week mens addiction program
that focuses on recovery through understand-
ing our new identity Christ.
My role at CFT is multi-layered. Two days
a week I will be counseling and helping
Greg Cleland facilitate the mens addiction
program. The rest of my week will be con-
necting with local churches. We are currently
partnering with First Baptist of Peachtree
City, where I served on staff for the last six
years. We are helping their former counsel-
ing ministry to transition to a more life-
on-life discipleship ministry we are calling
Life Equipping.
In this new ministry, the Life Equipper will
be sensitive to the Spirit led opportunities
to join others in a relational journey. In
this journey they will wear multiple hats:
friend, mentor, teacher, and coach. This new
ministry will take the message of Christ as
life to more people than the lay counseling
ministry. As this ministry develops at FBC,
PTC, we will be able to share this model
with other local churches who want to take
their discipleship to a more personal one-on-
one level.
I am excited about my CFT family and the
new ways that God is leading me to express
His life to others. If you are in the Newnan
area, please stop by our offce. I would love
to give you the tour!
Blessings!

Living Life!
A Quarterly Update On Christs Life Expressed
Through Tom and Tess Price
Summer 2012
CFTs coaches and counselors raise
their own fnancial support to pay
for their salary, health insurance
benefts and ministry expenses.
This enables them to serve those in
need on a donation only basis. As
a non-proft organization, Christian
Families Today operates fnancially
from the charitable contributions of
individuals, businesses, churches,
and foundations who believe in us
and our objectives.
Tess and I need prayer and fnancial
partners to join us in this journey.
We have been praying for everyone
whom God is calling to join our
team. We feel impressed by Father
to completely trust Him to meet all
our needs. We are trusting you and
your relationship with Father to give
according to His leading.
Will you prayerfully
consider partnering with
us in our journey?
If you are impressed to give to our
ministry fnancially, here are a few
ways you can give. You can mail
a check to CFT indicating you are
supporting Tom Price, or you can
set-up a regular bill payment, or you
can donate on-line. All contribu-
tions are tax deductible.
Every Christian who pursues excellence
wants to reach a destination of holiness or
perfection. That destination can only be
reached Gods way. God is the reason the
desire for holiness even exists in the heart
of the Christian. However, ones belief
system will determine how that destination
is reached. One can strive for this destination
through effort or one can rest by trusting in
the fnished work of Christ.

That frst road is striving and the emphasis is
on me; that is, what can I do to reach this
destination. For this Christian, law becomes
very important. This law is often referred
to as principles, standards, rules, or
commandments. This progress on the
striving road is measured by performance.
Everyone on this road is tempted to look at
the people behind them and judge their per-
formance as not good enough. When they
look at those in front of them, they feel a
deep sense of shame that there is something
wrong with me.
The problem with this highway to holiness
is that the bridge is out! It is impossible to
reach the desired destination by this route.
Those journeyers on this road, who have
come to realize the impossibility tell them-
selves, Ill reach that destination when I get
to heaven. They fgure their physical death
and translation into heaven is the bridge that
spans this great chasm. The Bible refers to
this road as walking after the fesh. Of
course, this would be classifed as religious
fesh.
The second road, the road less traveled, is
Gods way of reaching that destination. It is
the road of grace. The emphasis on this
road is Christ and what He has done and is
doing. It is a road of rest, not striving. It is
trusting in the living presence of Christ in
me. On this road, the destination of holiness
has already been reached and now the excur-
sion is not one of reaching a destination, but
of enjoying the journey and bearing the fruit.
It is an eternal relationship to be enjoyed, not
a destination to be reached. Behavior fows
from that relationship and is defned by that
relationship. If Christ is holy and His life is
in me, then my actions that fow out of that
relationship are also holy. This wonderful
journey can be experienced by all Christians
who rest in Christs fnished work. The Bible
refers to this road as abiding in Christ or
walking in the Spirit.
At times I fnd myself walking on that frst
road. When that happens, God does not love
me any less for being there. However, He is
always actively drawing me back into that
relationship that can only be experienced on
the second road. I pray you are resting today
in that relationship. It is how God intended
for us to Live Life!
