XXX EXTERNAL RELATIONS MANAGER MAIN PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE JOB To plan and manage XXXs relationships with stakeholders, including government and the media, to raise the profile of XXX and XXX and ensure the public policy agenda relating to XXX reflects its needs. To lead the development of XXXs evidence base to inform its policy positions and services and measure XXXs impact. POSITION IN ORGANISATION Reports To: Responsible for: Director of Communications Research and Policy Officer Public Affairs and Policy Officer Press Officer Information Officer

DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES A Stakeholder engagement and policy To ensure XXX maintains an authoritative, respected and informed voice in relation to the national XXX policy agenda by leading the development of XXX policy positions, identifying and analysing relevant policy change and informing future work. With the Director of Communications, lead on the development, implementation and evaluation of public affairs strategies to influence policy makers, including Ministers and officials and MPs and other political and policy audiences to ensure home-based XXX is reflected in national XXX plans To ensure XXX undertakes appropriate research to gather an effective evidence base to inform its policy development, measure its effectiveness and support its planning and share this evidence appropriately. To manage an effective feedback procedure and ensure feedback is shared, understood and informs XXXs future planning. To ensure XXX is appropriately represented at stakeholder meetings and policy groups and to represent XXX at stakeholder meetings as agreed with the Director of Communications Profile raising To plan, deliver and evaluate XXXs agreed campaigns (both for policy change and awareness), in partnership with staff, volunteers and/or key external stakeholders. To lead on the development, implementation and evaluation of strategies to engage with and secure positive coverage in national, local and sector media To maintain an effective media function, including contributing to the delivery of XXXs out-of-hours press office service.

To lead on identifying and establishing strategic partnerships where appropriate to External Relations to support XXX to meet its objectives. People Management To lead and manage the performance of the External Relations team by example, communicating effectively, coaching and developing staff and providing regular feedback, to ensure high levels of performance and that agreed objectives and targets are met. Business planning and management

To contribute to the Communications Departments work planning, including budgeting, financial planning and reforecasting and inform wider organisational strategy. To be the budget manager for all External Relations Activity, monitoring the budget and ensuring variances are minimised and report on these to the Director of Communications. To support the Director of Communications with the development and delivery of a fundraising function to enable XXX to grow voluntary income from non statutory sources in support of its objectives. To ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES Contribute to team meetings and organisational priorities.
