XXX VOLUNTEER OFFICER MAIN PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE JOB To be responsible for growing and strengthening XXXs volunteer community by supporting and developing volunteers to fulfil important roles within the organisation and to actively promote XXX to external stakeholders. To provide direct advice and support for volunteers, including XXX and Regional Organising Committees to ensure they operate effectively. POSITION IN ORGANISATION Reports to: Marketing and Communications Manager

DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES A Volunteer development and support With the Marketing and Communications Manager, ensure the volunteer strategy is implemented effectively, including periodic review and evaluation and that changes are made in light of evaluation. To proactively support the volunteers and supply them with the necessary collateral to enable them to act as advocates for XXX in their respective communities, in line with Local Authority strategies and the XXX Local Authority Typology. To be responsible for communicating effectively with XXXs volunteers, including developing briefings and newsletters as appropriate, and to develop ways that enable the volunteer community to communicate with and support each other. To develop new volunteer roles, in line with the Volunteer Strategy, to support XXXs work, including recruitment, selection and support as appropriate. To ensure volunteering is effectively promoted internally and externally, including to XXX and Associations and that volunteers are recognised and acknowledged for the work they do. To nominate key volunteers to identify development needs in the volunteer community and coordinate training and development opportunities as appropriate. To act as the first point of contact for key volunteers and process enquiries about volunteering in XXX, providing advice and guidance as appropriate. Working with the PA to the Communications Director to ensure records of existing volunteers are kept up-to-date and effective recruitment processes and checks are in place National Policy Forum and Regional Forums

Working with the External Relations team and PA to the Communications Director, be responsible for the meeting and work of the National Policy Forum, including agendas and meetings and that feedback is shared effectively after meetings. Working with the Marketing and Events Officer, staff in Operations and the PA to the Communications Director, to provide appropriate support and assistance, including advice with events and administration to Regional Organising Committees in the organisation of their Regional Forums Working with the Marketing and Events Officer organise the Annual Volunteer Conference including the agenda and workshop content Working with the Governance and Planning Officer and colleagues in other departments, ensure that all policies, procedures and role descriptions governing the work of volunteers are kept up-todate and reflect existing law and guidance and that they are disseminated to volunteers as appropriate. To ensure that new volunteers receive appropriate and consistent induction and understand XXX policies and procedures

CRITERIA EXPERIENCE Experience of working in a similar role(s), incorporating Volunteer co-ordination or management Promoting volunteering and recruiting volunteers KNOWLEDGE Project management skills with a proven capacity to organise and plan time effectively to meet deadlines Communicate effectively using appropriate methods and language, including IT, with a range of audiences Presentation skills Intermediate ICT skills Strong inter-personal and communications skills Collaborative working as part of a team Demonstrate anti-discriminatory practice in all areas of work Criteria Tested At Application Interview
