XXX Job Description Volunteer Co-ordinator The main purpose of the Volunteer Co-ordinator (VC) is to ensure that an adequate supply of trained volunteers are available to meet the needs of XXX people locally, and to meet the priority needs identified by the XXX Team Leader. The primary area of responsibility is the provision of volunteers to support individual XXX service users, but VCs may also recruit and place volunteers to help XXXs clubs, fundraising events and promotion. Duties and Responsibilities 1. Recruit, select and train volunteers to provide a range of services to XXX people. To coordinate the recruitment of volunteers, meeting with potential volunteers, assisting with volunteer applications, Criminal Record Bureau documentation and references. 2. Respond to referrals from the XXX team for volunteer assistance, and place volunteers appropriately, matching their skills and abilities to the needs of service users. This will involve close working with individual service users and clubs, to gain an understanding of the volunteering context. Provide ongoing supervision and support to volunteers, and ensure their training needs are met. Arrange occasional events to promote volunteering and celebrate achievements. Develop and maintain monitoring and evaluation systems, produce statistics, case studies and reports as required by funders, managers and Trustees. Use the evaluation findings to develop and improve services. Be administratively self-supporting, and maintain effective electronic and paper-based office information systems. Authorise volunteer mileage and expenses and discuss any concerns with Team Leader in first instance. Promote volunteering for XXX (this will include producing press releases, leaflets and promotional materials in line with XXX style guidelines, liaison with the media, organising and attending occasional events etc). Encourage and support volunteers to fundraise for XXX, and facilitate their links with XXXs fundraising team and local fundraising committees. Liaise effectively with colleagues to exchange information and promote good practice to benefit service users and XXX. This will include attending the relevant XXX team meetings and Volunteer Co-ordinator meetings. Providing occasional support to colleagues as required, and attending other XXX events, meetings and training.

10. Work with XXX colleagues to develop new ways of using volunteers to meet service users needs. 11. Promote and champion the role of volunteers, both internally and externally, so that they are respected and valued for their contribution to the organisation. 12. Perform other duties as required by the XXX Team Leader or the Chief Executive of XXX. Person Specification Essential Criteria Be able to demonstrate: Sound knowledge and understanding of volunteering issues at an operational level including working with volunteer policies and procedures. Excellent inter-personal skills, including good listening skills and the ability to influence and motivate volunteers and the public with, enthusiasm and a positive, outgoing attitude. Excellent written communication skills. Outstanding communication, relationship building and networking skills. An understanding of equality and diversity issues, and a commitment to putting equality principles into practice. Effective administrative skills, and a good standard of IT skills, including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Access or other database, and internet. Sound numeracy skills, including the ability to independently produce statistical reports using databases and spreadsheets. Good time management skills, and the ability to manage a diverse workload and prioritise effectively so that deadlines are met. A sensitive and professional approach towards colleagues, volunteers and service users, mindful of confidentiality and anti-discriminatory practices. Ability to travel independently across the area of service. Empathy with XXXs aims, values and objectives. Desirable Criteria An understanding of the needs of XXX people. Interviewing and selection skills. Able to recognise limitations of skills and knowledge and liaise with Line Manager when necessary.
