Extract from Hatha Yoga Pradipika (http://hacklog.in/extra yoga-pradipika/)

April 3rd, 2013

I recently read a short text from my FB feeds, it said :

Transliterated as : Bhruvormadhye ivasthnam manastatra vilyate Jtavyam tatpadam turyam tatra klo na vidyate Meaning :

The seat of iva is between the eyebrows, and the mind becomes absorbed there. This condition (in which known as Trya, and death has no access there.

It was so mesmerizing I could not resist finding its source. The text is taken from a book called Hatha Yo manual on Hatha Yoga, written by Svmi Svtmrma. Read more here [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hatha_Yoga_Pradipika] .

Shulba Sutras | Ekadhikena Purvena (http://hacklog.in/shu ekadhikena-purvena/)

February 15th, 2012

Shulba Sutras or most commonly known as Vedic Mathematics, is the name given to the mathematics fo from the Vedas between 1911 and 1918 by Shri Bharati Krsna Tirthaji (1884 1960). According to his re on sixteen Sutras.

These 16 one-line formulae, which can be easily memorised, enable one to solve long mathematical prob general in nature and can be applied in many ways. In practice many applications of the Sutras may be le problems. Lets have a look at the first Sutra.

Ekadhikena Purvena
Meaning: By one more than the one before.

This Sutra has several applications. The most common is to find the square of any number whose units di Example: Finding the square of number 35.

For this lets find the parts of this number as described in the Sutra. Digit 3 appears before digit 5, so 3 is before. So, 1 more than the one before is 3 + 1 = 4. [http://hacklog.in/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/shulba1.png]

[http://hacklog.in/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/shulba2.png] Multiply 3 by 4 and place it in left hand side of 25. So, the square of 35 is 1225. You could try calculating the squares of 45, 55, 65 and so on mentally.
