Stewardship and Development

Stewardship Thought: Todays readings from the Acts of the Apostles and the Book of Revelation describe the dedication of disciples to the cause of Jesus Christ and the glory of God. In St. Johns Gospel, Jesus proclaims to His disciples, Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you. This ultimate blessing from Christ applies as much to disciples today as it did to disciples then. As Christs disciples and stewards, we can attain this ultimate gift when we discern Gods will in our lives and embrace that will through generous acts of stewardship to the Church and the less fortunate among us.

Parish Choir Announcement

Dear Parishioners of St. Mary's Church, If you have not yet heard, Kay has passed on the reins of St. Mary's Choir to us. Dan will be the new choir director and Kerri will be the organist. As you have seen, the organ is now in the choir loft. I believe that this is a great opportunity to encourage family and friends to join. Singing from the back of the church is great fun. It decreases much of the anxiety people rarely get when singing. Also we would like to invite any junior high and high school students to the choir. This year, we are taking a different approach to rehearsals. We are having weekly rehearsals for a couple of months prior to our first scheduled mass of the season. The choir will develop a basic repertoire of music and master different pieces with three or four part harmony. We will be making free rehearsal CD's so that the choir can listen to their respective parts in the car. Our goal is to have a full repertoire of songs prepared so that we can focus on a few songs at a time and need fewer rehearsals. The rehearsals will be on Wednesdays at 7:00 PM and last for about an hour. The next rehearsal will be Wednesday May 8 at 7:00 PM. For students, there will be a separate rehearsal. For more information or to sign up please contact Dan at 845-264-7577 or e-mail Kerri at kacornish@hotmail.com. God Bless! -- Dan and Kerri Morton

Faithful Citizenship Quote

"Every man has the obligation to vote, because by voting he can determine who will be tomorrow's lawmaker, who will make tomorrow's laws either to be unjust and perverse, or to promote human values. Any law which permits one to act against the untouchable, intangible good of the human person --such as a law favoring abortion -- is an unjust and perverse law. God asks God Himself asks --that every man, every Christian, make his contribution by voting." Bishop Karl Romer, Secretary of the Pontifical Council for the Family, Vatican City

Mass Intentions
As Catholics, we have a long tradition of having Masses celebrated for those we wish to offer up in prayer. The Mass is the ultimate form of prayer, and each Mass is celebrated for an intention. Please consider having Masses celebrated for family and friends on special occasions and anniversaries, as well as those who are in need of prayers. Masses are also encouraged in memory of those loved ones who have died, especially on the anniversaries of their deaths. Contact Fr. Cory for more information! Follow us on Facebook and Twi er!
