OTTAWA CHARTER ON HEALTH PROMOTION

HEALTH PROMOTION is the process of enabling people to increase control over and improve their health. To reach complete physical, mental and social well-being, and individual or group must be able to realize aspirations, to satisfy needs and to change or cope with the environment.

HEALTH PROMOTION is the first step to disease prevention.

It must start with people who are basically healthy by enhancing behaviors that promote well-being and strengthening community measures and individual lifestyles for the maintenance of good health.

HEALTHY SETTINGS
Healthy Settings are physical and social settings, such as schools, workplaces, marketplaces, hospitals, villages and communities, which serve as supportive environments for health protection and health promotion activities

HEALTHY SETTINGS
The Healthy Settings originated from the Healthy Cities Movement in developed countries in 1980 In the Philippines, the Healthy Settings approach was adopted through Administrative Order 341 signed by the then President, Hon. Fidel V. Ramos, on June 11, 1997

WORKPLACE HEALTH PROMOTION


Those educational and organizational activities in the workplace that are designed to improve the health of the workers and therefore the community at large Involves workers and management participation on a voluntary basis in the implementation of jointly agreed programs which utilizes the workplace as a setting for promoting better health
