F. Assessment: What will you use to measure student understanding? Using the Study Guide (Unit Resource p. 30) as an resource, I will create clozed sentences for the students fill in the blanks with the correct answers: city, suburb, or town. Explain how you will know students understand the concepts from the lesson. Students must show understanding by matching the correct vocabulary word with the correct clue.

G. Reflection: 1. Which part of the lesson do you think will be the easiest for you to teach? The easiest part of this lesson will be teaching the vocabulary word city and farm. Las Vegas provides a great example of a large city. 2. Which part will be most challenging for you to teach? I think the challenge in teaching this lesson will be helping the children understand the difference of a town and suburb. They are small and everything looks like a great city to them 3. How will you follow up or extend this lesson? As an extension of this lesson, I would use Extend Lesson 5 (TE p. 106-107) about how San Francisco, California, grew from a town to a city. 4. What will you do for students who dont grasp the concepts? For those students who are having difficulty understanding the concepts of this lesson, I would use the Reteach Minilesson found on the bottom of TE p. 105 5. Which part of the lesson, if any, do you think might need to change? I like this lesson and find it easy for the students to follow and understand. It gives a nice overview of each type of community. I would add photographs for a sorting activity that the students could work on individually making judgments of whether the photo depicted a city, town, or suburb. 6. When you were writing this lesson plan, what was the most difficult part? The most difficult part of this lesson was again the assessment. I thought the Study Guide Resource page to be more of an assessment type of document than a study guide and that is why I chose it.
