Introduction

This report is going to cover the machines we worked on in the workshop, the instruments we used and the workpeice we fashioned.

Lathe

Milling Machine

A lathe is a is a large class of lathes designed for precisely machining relatively hard materials. It is used to machine parts that are symmetrical on the axis. advancing (or feeding) in a direction at an angle with the axis of the tool.

Milling is the machining process of using rotary cutters to remove material from a workpiece.

Instruments

We used the following instruments while working in the workshop, each with its own purpose:

Ruler: Measurement Vernier Caliper: Measurement Sand Paper: refining and filing the workpeice. Tap Set: detaling the workpiece File: refining and filing the workpeice

Workpeiece One

We started by marking an aluminum plate with dimensions of 100 millimeters by 60 millimeters at a distance of 10 by 10 millimeters from each corner where we drilled with a diameter of 5 millimeters. After that, we made a rectangular hole at the middle of the plate with the dimensions of 30 by 15 millimeters by 5 millimeters. At the right edge of the plate we made hole with the depth of 2 millimeters.

Workpiece two

The raw material for this piece was a cylindrical aluminum piece with a diameter of 20 millimeter and negligible depth we started by reducing the diameter of the piece to 12 for the first 20 millimeters. After that we turned the piece with a 30 degrees angle until it returns to the original 20 millimeters diameter. After walking in for 10 millimeters, a gap was made with the width of 6 millimeters that was 3 millimeters deep.
