The scholarship given by NISER is ` 16,000/- for f first 2 years, y whic ch will subs sequently be b enhanced to `18,000/1 for remaining g 2 years, subject s to the conditio n that he/s she fulfills all a the requiremen nts of the In nstitute that t will be stip pulated from m time to tim me.

Selection n Procedure
The selection committee of the respective school will short-list the candid dates amon ng ons and sa atisfy additi ional criteri ia those who meet the minimum educational qualificatio y set as dee emed necessary. which each school may dates will be e called for an interview w, supplem ented by a written test t, The short-listed candid if necessary y, for the ad dmission. Based on the t academ mic record a and the performance of o the cand didates in the t selectio on process, th he selection committe ee of the school will recomme end candidates to th he Chairman, Academic A Council C for a admission to o the Ph.D. program. All candidat tes called fo or the Test / Interview w will be paid to and fro o single, second-sleepe er class railwa ay fare by the shortes st route fro om their pla ace of resid dence to the Institute / venue of the t Test an nd Interview w. They ha ave to produce evide ence (railwa ay ticket) in i support of their t claim.

How to Apply
The application form can be found in page 3 to 5 of this document. Else, the form can be obtained by speed post or in person from the Academic Section, NISER Bhubaneswar (for postal address see below). In case of request by post, please enclose a self-addressed envelope (A4 size, 21 cm X 30 cm) affixed with postage stamps of `40/- (Rupees forty only). The forms will be sent by speed post. Candidates intending to apply for more than one school should use separate application form for each school with appropriate enclosures. The application form can either be typed or hand-written. Incomplete application form will be rejected. NISER does not demand any entrance fee from the candidates who apply for Ph.D program. Send only attested copies (By Gazette Officer) of all supporting documents (mark sheets, certificates, age proof, caste certificate, etc.) Enclose two letters of reference. The copy of the reference letter is available in page 5 & 6 of this document.

Names of the short-listed candidates will be available in the Website on 26th April, 2013(Friday). The tentative date for test/interview in Physics is given below. The test/interview dates for other schools will be available in the website around April 26, 2013. Individual schools will send the call letters to the candidates separately. The date of announcement of selected candidates will be put up in the website around April 26, 2013. The Ph.D registration will be done on July 22, 2013 (Monday). As NISER is functioning in a transit Campus, it is impossible to provide accommodation to the Ph.D students. However they will be provided admissible H.R.A as applicable in Bhubaneswar city. NISER is most likely moving into its own campus at Jatni in July 2014. Students may get accommodation in NISER Campus from July 2014 onwards.
