EDUCATION QUALIFICATION (S) (1) (2) High School II Division, U.P. Board, Allahbad, 1976 (Hindi, English, Mathematics, Science & Drawing) Intermediate Science II Division 54.8%, U.P. Board, Allahbad, 1978 (Hindi, English, Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics) Graduated in Science Stream from Meerut University in the year 1980 in II Division Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, (Aggregate 54.9%) Obtained Masters Degree in Physics from Meerut University in the year 1983. First Division (Aggregate 64%) Field of Specialization: Nuclear Physics (a) Ph.D. from University of Delhi in the year 1989. (b) Title of Ph. D. Thesis: Medico-Physical Studies on Epilepsy and other Neurological disorders. (c) Summary: The experimental findings reported in the present work pertain to the applications of several spectoscopic (FT-IR, NMR, UV, Atomic absorption & PAS) and immunophysical techniques to study neurophysical aspects of grand mal epilepsy (GME), right focal seizures (RFS) and migraine. Standard statistical tests like regression analysis and standard student t tests were employed to analyse the data obtained.

In GME, levels of IgA, IgG and IgM are found to be higher than normal. The double correlation coefficients of two variables were found to obey the relation

C3 and C4 complements are found to be strongly correlated in epiliptic disorders. The observed lines in FT-IR spectra were assigned the specific bonds which get established in these neurological disorders. On the basis of atomic absorption studies of the levels of Zn, Cu and Fe in the sera of epileptic patients, it was concluded that differences between the mean Zn and Cu levels of GME and normal were found to be significant unlike the case of Fe. NMR spectra indicate the formation of some active centres due to patholigical conditions. UV studies reveal that tryptophan content gets reduced in GME indicating a possible deformation in the peptide bound. UV and PAS were applied to spot out the changes occurring in molecular characteristics of IgG and hemoproteins. (d) Research Experience: Engaged in research since July 1984 at the Deptt. of Physics & Astrophysics, University of Delhi, delhi-110 007, under the guidance of Dr. Madan Moham Bajaj, Ph.D., D.Sc. (Japan). (7) Title of the Project: Biophysical investigations on epileptic disorders using spectroscopic techniques
