GENERAL 1.1. Scope This standard covers the minimum requirements for reciprocating plunger positive displacement pumps for use in service in the petroleum, chemical and gas industries. Both direct-acting and power-frame are included. This specification does not cover requirements for controlled volume pumps. 1.2. Terminology All terms and condition shall conform to API-674 except modified in this specification. (Additions to paragraph 1.4 of API-674) 1.2.1. COMPANY Refers to PT. CALTEX PACIFIC INDONESIA, as the ultimate user and owner, the authorized representative of COMPANY or COMPANY third party inspection, CONTRACTORs referred in the API-674 shall be read as COMPANY. 1.2.2. CONTRACTOR Refers to company selected by COMPANY, which may be responsible for the detailed engineering design, material and equipment procurement, and construction as specified in Contract, Scope of Work, or Work Order. 1.2.3. 1.3.2.

Code and standard Pumps shall conform to A PI-674, Positive displacement pumps-reciprocating, latest edition as appended, except as modified by this specification. The referenced API-674 paragraph are based on 2nd edition of API-674 and appear in this specification.

1.4.

1.5.

Alternatives Designs (modification to paragraph 1.2 of API-674) The Vendor may offer alternatives design to suit fit for purposes or intended use and total life cycles cost whenever applicable.

1.6.

Data Sheet Pump shall conform to the requirements of all data sheet including the API-674 data sheet.

1.7.

Vendor Responsibility The Vendor is responsible for supplying complete units which perform to the specification. Vendor is also responsible for assuring that its subvendors (e.g., motor, coupling, seal, etc) and suppliers meet their obligation as stated by Vendor. The pump Vendor shall assume unit responsibility. Unit responsibility refers to the responsibility for coordinating the technical aspects of the equipment and all auxiliary systems included in the scope of the purchase order.

Design, procurement and installation of electrical power, control or instrumentation items up to terminal connections on the driver as applicable Prompt review and return of drawings submitted

(addition to paragraph 2.1.2 of API-674) COMPANY requires pumps and drivers whose noise will not cause hearing impairment, speech interference, or public nuisance. The sound level ay any location three feet from the pump and its connected piping shall not exceed 85 dBA. (addition to paragraph 2.1.3 of API-674) The system shall meet or exceed the design criteria, requirements, intended of use or specified in the data sheet.

Selection of Types 1.10.1. (modification to paragraph 2.2.2 of API-674) A valve plate pump with removable suction or discharge valve deck and unconfirmed gasket shall not be used for a discharge pressure over 350 psig (24.1 bar gauge) or a pumping temperature over 350 ?F (180 ?C)

1.11.

Ratings 1.11.1. (modification to paragraph 2.3.6 of API-674) In the determination of powerpump power requirement, the pump efficiency shall not taken as greater that 85%. If the power end includes integral speed-reduction gears, the pump efficiency shall not be taken as greater than 80%. The Vendor shall prove the pump efficiency listed.

1.12.

Cylinders and Pressure -Retaining Parts 1.12.1. (addition to paragraph 2.4.7 of API-674) Jacket for cooling or heating system shall be designed to positively prevent internal or external leakage. Passages shall not open into cylinder joints. (addition to paragraph 2.4.1) cast iron or ductile iron shall not be used for pressure retaining parts operating above 400O F

1.12.2. 1.13.

Cylinder Connection 1.13.1. (modification to paragraph 2.5.1 of API-674) Inlet and outlet connection shall be flanged or machined and studded, oriented as specified in the data sheets. Each shall be suitable for the working pressure to which is normally subjected, unless otherwise mutually agreed upon between the COMPANY and the Vendor. (addition to paragraph 2.5.2 of API-674) Welded cylinder connections are not permitted for cast iron cylinders. (addition to paragraph 2.5.3 of API-674) The Vendor shall state in the proposal when threaded openings are offered.

1.13.4.

(modification to paragraph 2.5.5 of API-674) Tapped openings not connected to piping shall be plugged with solid metal long-shank plugs in accordance with ASME/ANSI B16.11. As minimum, these plugs shall meet the material requirement of the cylinder at least equivalent to tapped component. Cast iron components shall have steel plugs as minimum. Plugs that may later require removal shall be of corrosion-resistant material. Lubricant of proper temperature specification shall be used on all threaded connections. Tape shall not be applied to threads of plugs inserted into oil passages. Plastic plugs are not permitted. (modification to paragraph 2.5.3.6 of API-674) Threaded connection shall not exceed 1 inches NPS. Tapped openings and bosses for pipe threads shall conform to ANSI B16.5. (exception to paragraph 2.5.6.4) All connection shall conform to ANSI B16.1 or ANSI B16.5

Liquid end Appurtenance 1.14.1. (modification to paragraph 2.6.6.4) Liquid end stuffing boxes shall accept a minimum of three square packing rings or three V packing rings (plus adapters) and necessary bushings. If rated suction pressure is below atmospheric, a lantern ring shall be furnish ed to permit injection of the sealing liquid. If the pumpage contains solid that would shorten the life of the packing of plunger, an injection lantern ring shall be provided near the box throat. Unless sufficient lubrication is provided by the pumpage, the packing shall be lubricated by liquid fed into the stuffing box on the atmospheric side of the packing or by liquid injected into lantern ring in the stuffing box. (exception) All cylinder liners shall be removable (bolted-in) type. Replaceable (pressed-in) type are not permitted.

1.14.2. 1.15.

Power End Running Gear (modification to paragraph 2.7.5 of API-674) Internal or bolted-on main gearing shall be either helical or herringbone type and shall be manufactured to the tolerances specified for AGMA Quality Number 12 or better.

1.16. 1.17.

Gas End, Direct Acting Pump Lubrication (modification to paragraph 2.9.1.2 of API-674) The power end lubrication system may be splash, positive pressure or gravity as recommended by the pump Vendor, or as specified in the data sheet. A sight glass, gauge shall be provided. Oil level dipstick is not acceptable.

1.18.

Materials 1.18.1. (addition to paragraph 2.10.2.3 of API-674) Cast iron and ductile iron shall not be repaired by welding unless specifically approved in writing by COMPANY.

Casting shall not be filled or charged with plastic, sodium silicate, or similar material in order to mask porosity or casting defects. 1.18.2. (addition to paragraph 2.10.4.2 of API-674) All pressure containing welds and major weld repairs shall be 100% dye penetrant inspected. When specified, 100% radiography, magnetic particle or ultrasonic inspection of weld is required. Vendor shall receive COMPANY approval of submitted weld procedures to release to manufacture. Weld procedures shall include proposed connection design and size, material, and heat treatment requirements.

1.19.

Name Plate and Rotation Arrows 1.19.1. (modification to paragraph 2.11.2 of API-674) Nameplates shall be of 18Cr-8Ni stainless steel, with attachment pins or screw of the same material. Welding is not permitted. (modification to paragraph 2.11.3 of API-674) Pump nameplates shall be stamped or embossed with the following information

Similar nameplates and information shall be furnished for major auxiliary equipment. 1.20. Quality ACCESSORIES 1.21. Drivers 1.21.1. (modification to paragraph 3.1.3 of API-674) The starting conditions for the driven equipment will be specified in the data sheet, and the starting method shall be mutually agreed upon by the COMPANY and the Vendor. The driver starting torque capabilities shall exceed the driven equipment starting torque requirements for rated operating conditions. As part of the proposal, the Vendor shall identify any starting limitations of the selected driver. (addition to paragraph 3.1.5) Motor drivers below 200 HP shall be provided in accordance with SP-EL-EE-005, Induction motor for below 200 HP. Motor drivers 200 HP and above shall be provided in accordance with SP-EL-EE-006, Induction motor for 200 HP and above. Gas engine or diesel engine Drivers

may be used and shall be a minimum of 110 percent of the maximum horsepower required for any operating condition. However, the driver system for pumping unit shall be as per specified on the data sheet. 1.22. Coupling and Guards 1.22.1. 1.22.2. 1.22.3. (exception to paragraph 3.2.2 of API-674) Couplings, coupling-to-shaft juncture, and guards may not conform with API 671, when specified in the data sheet. (modification to paragraph 3.2.3 of API-674) Coupling shall have a minimum service factor of 2.0. (addition to paragraph 3.2.9 of API-674) Guards shall be non-sparking when required for the electrical area hazard classification specified on the data sheet.

1.23.

Mounting Plates 1.23.1. (addition to paragraph 3.3.1.2.2 of API-674) For drivers weighting over 60 lbs, alignment positioning screws shall be provided for each drive element to facilitate longitudinal and transverse horizontal adjustment. The lugs holding the position screw shall be attached to the mounting plate so the do not interfere with installation or removal of the drive element(s). (addition to paragraph 3.3.2.2 of API-674) The skid shall extent under all parts of the pump, drive, and auxiliary system that may drip lubricant, process, or motive fluids during operation and maintenance. (addition to paragraph 3.3.2.3 of API-674) Jackscrews shall be provided for vertical adjustment of skid on units exceeding 5000 lbs (2268 kgs) in overall weight. (modification to paragraph 3.3.2.11 of API-674) Skid, driver and pump supports shall be constructed and the pumping unit mounted to minimize misalignment caused by mechanical forces such as normal piping strains, internal different thermal expansion, and hydraulic piping thrust. The pump and driver supports shall be welded to the cross member.

Control and Instrumentation 1.24.1. (addition to paragraph 3.4.4.7.2 of API-674) Relief valve shall be set to relieve fully open at not more that the maximum allowable working pressure of the cylinder but at not less than 110% of the rated discharge pressure or 25 psig (1.7 bar gage), whichever is higher. (modification to paragraph 3.4.4.7.3 of API-674) Relief valve must be able to handle pump rated capacity when fully open, at a pressure not more than 10% above set pressure. See SP -IN-II-002 Instrument with Package or Mechanical Unit, detail specification.

1.24.2.

(addition to paragraph 3.5.1.6 of API-674) Thread connections for all flammable or toxic fluids and steam above 75 psig (5.2 bar gage) shall be seal welded.

However, seal welding is not permitted on cast iron equipment, on instruments, or where disassembly is required for maintenance. Seal welded connections shall be made up without thread lubricants or compounds. The seal weld shall consist of the least two passes, the throat of the finished weld being a maximum of 3/8 inch (0.95 centimeter), and shall cover all exposed threads. No undercutting shall be permitted. 1.25.2. 1.25.3. 1.25.4. (addition to paragraph 3.5.1.10 of API-674) Piping, except for pressure-fed lubrication, shall be a minimum -inch size. (addition to paragraph 3.5.3.1 of API-674) Tubing shall be ASTM Grade A-269, type 304 or type 316 with stainless steel tubing compression fittings. (addition to paragraph 3.5.2.2 of API-674) Oil supply piping down steam of filters shall be type 304 or 316 stainless steel. Seamless tubing may be used for sizes up to and including inch. Flanged and butt-welded connections are required for larger diameter piping.

1.26.

Pulsation and Vibration Control Requirement 1.26.1. (addition to paragraph 3.6.1.2 of API-674) A suction stabilizer shall be provided by Vendor for installation when the difference between NPSHA (including acceleration head losses) and NPSHR is less than 5 psi.

FABRICATION 1.27. General 1.27.1. Unless otherwise specified and noted by COMPANY, the fabrication of rotating and static equipment shall be at the Vendor shop and shall be in accordance with the international standard. No fabrication may begin until the Vendor has received written approval of detailed fabrication drawings from the COMPANY. Shop detail drawing shall be completed with all dimensions, thickness and detail of construction including dimensional detail of weld joint and nozzles. No fabrication shall be sub-contracted without the prior written approval of the COMPANY. Material shall be as stated on the data sheet. Alternative materials may be used if advantageous with the prior approval of the COMPANY. Proposed substitutions must be clearly defined.

Casting 1.28.1. 1.28.2. The machining, casting and other related work of rotating equipment shall be so designed and conducted to meet the required overall performance.

INSPECTION AND TESTING 1.32. Gene ral 1.32.1. Unless otherwise specified, Vendor shall be responsible for all inspection and testing in accordance with PP-QC-GG-003, "Inspection and Test Plan at Shop", PP-QC-GG-004, "Inspection and Test Plan at Field" Vendor shall furnish CONTRACTOR/COMPANY with copies of Vendor's Inspection and Quality Control Plan. Vendor shall submit all manufacturing, fabrication, inspection and testing procedures for CONTRACTOR/COMPANY approval at least three (3) weeks in advance of implementing the procedure. Manufacturing and fabrication shall not proceed until Vendors material inspection has been approved by CONTRACTOR/COMPANY. Materials and workmanship shall be CONTRACTOR/COMPANY in the shop. subjected to inspection by

(addition to paragraph 4.3.1 of API-674) In addition to performing hydrostatic test, each pump shall be given a standard mechanical run test in the Vendors shop. The equipment for specified test shall be provided by the Vendor The manufacturer shall maintain a complete log of the specified test performed and shall prepare the required number of copies of test report, certified as to correctness. When suction and discharge test pressure vary, these differences shall be noted on the data sheets in the proposal. (addition to paragraph 4.3.2 of API-674) Piping, pressure vessels, filters, coolers, heating jackets, and the like shall be tested to 1 times maximum allowable working pressure or in accordance with the applicable code. (addition to paragraph 4.3.3.1 and 4.3.4.1 of API-674) Vendor shall operate the complete pump in his shop for at least one hour at rated speed and pressure. Test duration may include the time required to complete performance and / or NPSH test when specified.

PREPARATION FOR SHIPMENT 1.35. Unless otherwise noted in the COMPANYs Request for Proposal and/or Purchase Order, Preparation for shipment shall be in accordance with PP-PC-GG-003, Transportation and Traffic Instructions, PP-PC-GG-004 Packing and Marking Instruction. All components (individual pieces, as well as packaged sets) shipped with mounted preassembled piping, tubing, or wiring shall with OSHA requirements and shall carry outside securely affixed large, red, all-weather tags stating the following in bold letters:

THIS SYSTEM HAS BEEN REASSEMBLED AND TESTED FOR OPERABILITY AND SAFETY, COMPLIES WITH ALL REQUIREMENTS OF OSHA AND SHALL NOT BE DISTRIBUTED BY UNAUTHORIZED PERSONNEL. 1.37. Assembly and preparation for shipment shall be in accordance with Vendors standards and as noted herein. Vendor shall be solely responsible for the adequacy of the preparation for shipment provisions with respect to materials and application, and to provide equipment at the destination in ex-works condition when handled by commercial carriers. Each major component shall be properly identified with item and serial numbers. All material shipped separately shall be properly tagged or marked with the item and serial number for which it is intended. Immediately after final testing and prior to shipment, equipment shall be drained, dried and cleaned thoroughly of all grease, loose scale, rust, flux, weld splatter and rubble, both internally and externally. Adequate protection shall be provided against mechanical damage and atmospheric corrosion in transit, and for mutually acceptable period of outdoor storage at job site before installation. Preparation for shipment and packing will be subject to inspection and rejection by COMPANYs inspectors. All costs occasioned by such rejection shall be to the account of the CONTRACTOR. Equipment shall be packed, securely anchored, and skid mounted when required. All items, which can be damaged by water, shall be securely wrapped in waterproof paper or plastic before placed in wooden crates. Bracing, support, and rigging connections shall be provided to prevent damage during transit, lifting, or unloading. Flanged openings shall be protected with metal cover plate to prevent damage during shipment. Covers shall be a minimum of thick and shall be installed with full size rubber-gasketted metal or wood closure using minimum of 4 full diameter bolts. Large diameter flanges will require enough full diameter bolts to set the cover all around. The cover and flange shall be taped for waterproof protection. Open end of pipe shall be capped for protection. The cap shall be removable. Female threaded connection shall be plugged with solid metal pipe plugs, and male threaded connections shall be protected with full metal pipe caps. Separate, loose and spare parts shall be completely boxed. Piece of equipment's and spare parts shall be identified by item number and service and marked with COMPANYs order number, tag number, and weight, both inside and outside of each individual package or container. Exposed finished and machined surfaces, including bolting, shall be given a coating of rust inhibiting compound. Internal metal surfaces shall be sprayed or coated with a suitable rust preventive prior for shipment. Opening shall be suitably tagged to indicate the rust preventive applied. Mechanical seal assemblies (if any) shall be fully protected from rusting and entry of moisture and dirt.

One complete set of the installation, operation, and maintenance instructions shall be packed in the boxes or crate with equipment. A recommended spare part list for 2 years operation shall be included also. No equipment shall be released for shipment from Vendors shop until inspection release has been issued from CONTRACTORs inspector.

Vendor shall provide COMPANY the instruction that necessary to preserve the integrity of the storage preparation, after the equipment arrives at the job site and before startup. INSTALLATION , START UP AND COMMISSIONING 1.54. 1.55. Vendor shall present his representatives to assist start up and commissioning upon request by COMPANY. Vendor shall submit complete parts lists for all equipment and accessories supplied. The lists shall include Manufacturer's unique part numbers, materials of construction, and delivery time. Well in advance of shipping, Vendor shall prepare detailed installation instructions, precommissioning checklists, and job site test agendas for COMPANY approval. These stepby-step instructions, checklists and test agendas shall be comprehensive and describe all steps necessary for: 1) COMPANY to install the complete unit to the foundation, 2) COMPANY and Vendor commissioning engineer to verify completion of all precommissioning procedures, and 3) COMPANY and Vendor commissioning engineer to verify that all hydraulic, mechanical, vibration, and electrical performance criteria are met. The preparation of these documents shall be included in the Lump Sum Amount. Vendor is responsible for any deficiencies in hydraulic, mechanical, vibration, or electrical performance at the job site. If specified, COMPANY will prepare a Supplemental Agreement to the Purchase Order for the services of Vendor's commissioning engineer. The basis for this Agreement will be Vendor's proposal received with his Base Proposal. All commissioning engineers contracted under a Supplemental Agreement shall be competent, experienced (5 years minimum), factory trained, and certified.

The commissioning engineer shall come equipped with all special tools and information required to expeditiously perform his work per the COMPANY -approved precommissioning checklist and job site test agenda. Special tools may include VENDORS GUARANTEE 1.59. Mechanical 1.59.1. Unless exception is recorded by the Vendor in his proposal, the equipment shall be guaranteed for satisfactory performance at all operating conditions specified on the data sheet. VENDORS DATA 1.61. General (addition to paragraph 5.1.1 of API-674) Vendor shall complete all COMPANY data sheets. 1.62. Proposal (addition to paragraph 5.2.5 of API-674) The Vendor shall submit a supplementary proposal for spare parts other than those included in his original quotation. This supplementary proposal shall include recommended spare parts, cross-sectional or assembly-type drawings, parts number, materials, prices, and delivery. Parts number shall identify each part for interchangeability proposed. Standard purchased items shall be identified by the original manufacturers numbers. This supplementary proposal shall be forwarded to the COMPANY promptly after receipt of approved drawings and in time to permit order and delivery of parts prior to field start-up. 1.63. Contract Data 1.63.1. (addition to paragraph 5.3.2 of API-674) The number of prints or reproducible required and the time within which the are to be submitted by the Vendor shall be in accordance with Drawing and Data Requirement whenever specified. Drawing data shall include the magnitude and direction of all unbalanced forces and couples, and the location on the center of gravity when driver exceed 200 HP. The Vendor shall supply schematic diagrams of each system in his scope of supply, as well as outline drawings and specifications for the components. The Vendor shall supply cross-sectional or assembly type drawings for all equipment furnished, showing all parts, running fits, clearances, and balancing data required for erection or maintenance. (typical drawings are unacceptable) (addition to paragraph 5.3.3 of API-674) The Vendor shall provide full information to enable completion of the API data sheets, first for as COMPANY and then for as built, this should preferably be done by correcting and filling out the data sheet and submitting copies. Vendor shall submit complete test data and receive COMPANY approval prior to shipment. (addition to paragraph 5.3.6.2 of API-674) No later than five days after the scheduled shipping date, the Vendor shall furnish the required number of instruction manuals for the equipment and any auxiliaries and instruments the Vendor provided. The manual shall including (typical drawing are not acceptable), parts list, and completed API data sheets. It shall also include instructions, operating limits and operating and maintenance procedures. The
