STAFFING FUNCTIONS

A. RECRUITMENT Hiring is through the use of mass media such as the internet by placing ads on the social networking website such as Facebook, and twitter, posters, print ads and other forms of recruitment are utilized. An application shall complete requirements needed and shall follow appropriate screening procedures before being fully employed.

A.) Recruitment Interview Written examination

B.) Pre-employment Requirements 1. Documents - Complete resume with 2x2 latest picture - Application letter addressed to the Human Resource Manager

Photocopy of the following:

- Transcript of Records - College Diploma - Birth Certificate (NSO) - Police clearance\/NBI clearance

- SSS/Phil health No./TIN - Marriage certificate (for married applicants) - Residence certificate/ Community tax certificate/Cedula (latest) - Good moral certification (for new graduates)

Additional requirement for those previously employed:

- Board rating and Board certificate - PRC license or id - Certificate of training, or seminars attended - Membership in any organization (if available) - Related Learning experience form - Letter of Recommendation from the College Dean (for new graduates) - Certificate of Employment

2. Medical Examination: - Chest x ray - Complete blood count - Stool examination - Urinalysis - Hepatitis B - Hepatitis C - Blood typing

- Drug testing - Physical examination

C.) Qualifications - Unit Head - Registered B.S. Nursing - With 12 units of Masters - 4-5 years of clinical nursing experience in obstetrics and gynecology through postgraduate work in a hospital or clinic - Valid and Updated PRC license - Trained in Maternal and Child Nursing

Staff Nurse - Registered B.S Nursing - Valid and Updated PRC license - 1-3 years of clinical nursing experience in obstetrics and gynecology through undergraduate training or postgraduate work in a hospital or clinic - Trained in Maternal and Child Nursing

Nurse Attendant/Nursing Aide - With 1-2 years experience -Basic knowledge on nursing procedures - Trained on basic first aid - Flexible and confident

Procedure: 1.) To have a good number of applicants there will be mass media information about the new personnels needed. 2.) All requirements are placed in a long brown envelope. And shall be submitted to the Human Resource Department. Noting that incomplete requirements will not be accepted. 3.) The HR department will send emails or contact via landline or cell phone to the applicants about their scheduled written exam and interview to trim down the number of qualified applicants. 4.) HR department will conduct background checks/reference checks on the successful candidates. 5.) Qualified applicants will undergo medical examination. 6.) After completion of all medical examination requirements, all successful applicants will receive notifications from the HR Department through email or via landline or cell phone for them to know the schedule of orientation for the newly employed personnels.

ORIENTATION Orientation of newly hired staff

DAY 1

ACTIVITIES Ocular visit and familiarization of the area. Discussion of rules and regulations of the hospital and the area. Socialization with the colleagues and familiarize the highly respected staff nurse. Review on the following procedures: -insertion of the IV -how to administer medication (P.O. meds, IVTT meds, parenteral meds) -catheterization -breastfeeding -perineal care

D. SELECTION AND PLACEMENT SELECTION

The OB WARD looks for nurses who are qualified and competent enough for our unit. The qualifications of an OB WARD nurse:

Registered nurse Preferably expose to previous OB ward nurse Successful completion in an accredited BSN program Has a pleasing personality Skillful and confident to work in the assigned work with good grades Has a good moral character

Requirements include: Pre employment requirements which includes the valid documents and medical examinations Preliminary interview Written examination

Procedures:

PLACEMENT Our OB WARD has the capacity of 18 beds. Before a newly accepted nurse is planned to go on duty, the unit requires the new staff to undergo 7 days of orientation of policies, the OB WARD set-up and equipments. Must undergo one-two months training within the institution, and is required to attend upcoming trainings and seminars. In this way, they will be updated of the new trends and discoveries to develop more as a professional. We believed that it is necessary in order to refresh the new staff in the different nursing procedures for us to be able to recognize the competency of our newly accepted staff. We also give one day acquaintance so that for a newly accepted OB WARD nurse will get acquainted to all the staff. E. INDOCTRINATION Indoctrination Program Programs: A tour around the institution Discussion on the rules, policies, code of conduct, services offered by the institution Actual observation on the work environment On the job training Special training on handling the facilities The orientation program, will last up 27 DAYS Orientation allowance of 10, 000 pesos a day, but will be reduced on the 5th day of training There is no employee and trainee relationship during the course of the orientation program.

Check the dosage, route, frequency of medication and medication tickets

Check if it is NST (no skin test) or ANST (After Negative Skin Test)

Re-write the medication ticket

P.O. meds: explain to the patient the purpose of medication, do not leave until the patient is able to take the medication (swallowed the tablet/capsule/syrup)

I.M.: explain to the patient the area to administer and that he/she will experience a little pain

IVTT: explain to the patient the purpose of medication, should be administered slowly

B. If given a chance to choose, in what area in the hospital would you like to work? Why?

STAFFING PATTERN USED Sora Vis Virtes Medical Institute is a tertiary Hospital with 18 bed capacity in Obstetric Ward. The institution is following a 40 hour/week, 8 hour/shift policy.
