DEVIL WEARS PRADA COMPARISON Abstract The book and the movie were very different and somewhat similar. This paper explores that topic, and compares and contrasts the two. The book had different characters have bigger parts than the movie; for example, Lily is bigger in the book, and is carried throughout. Also, some scenes were left out or portrayed differently. In the end when they are in Paris, that whole scene is different in the book than in the movie. The language and smoking was left out of the movie also. However, they both had the same plot line, and the main characters personalities are the same in the book and movie.

Devil Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger, is very different, yet similar to the movie that is based off of it. There are many more differences, as there normally are between book and movie, but there are still big similarities. There are many differences between the book and the movie. Some of the characters are different and play bigger/smaller parts. For example, Lily is a big character in the book and is carried without, and she is very minor in the movie. Also, Nigel is more openly gay in the book and doesnt help Andy as much as he does in the movie. Another difference is some of the scenes. When Miranda and Andy are in Paris, how Andy gets fired, why she goes home, and her relationship with Christian is played out differently in the book than in the movie. Some scenes were more dramatic, or left out more. Also the language and the smoking is excluded in the movie, and this is a fairly big part of the book. There are also some similarities. The plot line is still the same, with Andy wanting to become a writer, then ending up working like a slave for Miranda, then moving on with her life trying to mend the broken relationships. The main characters personalities are also the same. Miranda is a horrible and controlling boss. Andy is a young girl trying to work to get a job as a writer, while growing throughout the book. The book and the movie are very different, yet similar. There are some minor and major details that are different, but the plot and structure is still the same. The movie has been edited by the directors, making it different, while the book has the charisma the author brings to it.
