Macmillan CLASS LEVEL:ADVANCED TOPIC:NET-ADDICTION SKILLS:SPEAKING,READING,WRITING LANGUAGE FOCUS:vocabulary related to addictions(addict;addicted;addiction;addictive);means of introducing opinion,giving arguments and concluding AIMS:By the end of the lesson the students will be able to: 1.use appropriate vocabulary related to addictions 2. to practise vocabulary related to the topic of the Internet 3.check students reading comprehension 4.use different means of introducing opinion,giving arguments and concluding AIDS/MATERIALS:blackboard,chalk,worksheets,computers STAGES: 1.Warming-up:Greeting,calling the register and homework check:5 min. 2.ACTIVITY 1:Introduction AIMS:to introduce students into the new topic in order to see if they are aware of the key-word of the lesson:ADDICTION TIME:7 min INTERACTION:T-Ss PROCEDURE:Teacher tries to see if Ss are familiar with the word-family of addiction;thus the teacher writes the word on the blackboard and asks students what they mean by it,then use online dictionaries in order to provide as many word related to the word given(addict;addicted;addiction;addictive). Teacher draws Ss attention to the use of the verbal expressions TO BE ADDICTED TO STH./TO BECOME ADDICTED TO STH./TO GROW ADDICTED TO STH. 3.ACTIVITY 2:PRESENTATION STAGE AIMS: -to practise vocabulary related to the topic of the Internet -to introduce personal opinions -to conclude an arguments and use different summing up expressions TIME:13 min INTERACTION:T-Ss PROCEDURE:The teacher provides students with useful words and expressions related to the newly introduced topic and elicits personal examples of sentences containing the new items:

It seems weve reached the conclusion that 3.ACTIVITY 3:PRACTICE AND REINFORCEMENT AIMS:- to express personal opinions about the topic of NET-addiction -to practise vocabulary items related to addictions TIME:17 min INTERACTION:GW PROCEDURE:The class is divided into 4-5 groups. Each group receives a worksheet containing a different task related to the topic of NET-addiction. They are given 10 minutes to discuss about it and to solve it, and then, they choose a representative to present the opinions, ideas,conclusions to the whole class. While they are working on their tasks, they can make use of the Useful Vocabulary displayed on the blackboard and in their notebooks to help them express their ideas. The 5 separate tasks are: Compare addictions (net, alcohol, smoking, drug-taking), Positive aspects of the Internet, Negative aspects of the Internet, Advice for an addict, Methods of preventing illegal downloading and hackering. 4.ACTIVITY 4:Evaluation and feed-back TIME:5 min The teacher evaluates Ss answers and cooperation during the lesson and draws conclusions/answers Ssquestions if they have any.The teacher also elicits conclusions for the discussion during the class using appropriate summing up expressions.

5.HOMEWORK ASSESSMENT:3 min The teacher gives students worsheets containing an informative text about being addicted to the internet(Signs of Internet Addiction).Sudents are asked to read the text and then answer the questions as honestly as they can.
