The aim of Gecko Press is to encourage children to love to read.

We publish curiously good stories rich in language and illustration, books that are crunchy.

Gecko Press, founded in 2005, is a New Zealand-based independent publisher of curiously good books from around the world. We translate and publish childrens books by some of the worlds best writers and illustrators. We choose books that are excellent in story, illustration and design, with a strong heart factor. Gecko Press publishes 1215 titles each year. Of these, two or three are books original to Gecko Press, typically from New Zealand or Australia. Our list currently stands at 80 titles, ranging from boardbooks through to pre-teen novels, from countries including France, Taiwan, Sweden, Japan, Germany, New Zealand, Poland and the Netherlands. Gecko Press books are always well-made. We pay attention to things like paper and binding, because we want our books to have a long life.
