Torque converter lifting handles can be used as an alternative method for supporting the transmission assembly during repairs. Only install these handles until they stop. Do not tighten. Over tightening these handles can cause damage to the torque converter. Failure to raise the torque converter straight up could damage the torque converter clutch lip seal inside the torque converter clutch assembly.

You may encounter a TSS or OSS code being set in the PCM caused by the TSS or OSS sensors failing. Replace the sensors with new updated TSS (8A8Z-7M101-A) and OSS (8A8Z-7H103-A) sensors to correct this concern.

A245E
If you are working on a 2004-2005 Toyota Corolla, built prior to VIN #1NXBR3#E35Z369427, equipped with the 1ZZ-FE engine and an A245E transmission, you may encounter DTC P0741 (TCC perf) stored in the ECM. This condition may be caused by an incorrect VSS drive gear in the transmission or an ECM calibration issue. First verify that the correct VSS drive gear and driven gears are installed in the transmission. The correct VSS drive gear is white in color and has 35 teeth (part # 33481-12040) and the driven gear is white in color and has 29 teeth (part # 33403-29395). The next step is to attempt to perform a TCC stall test. If the TCC is capable of stalling the engine during the stall test, suspect a possible internal ECM concern. Toyota has updated ECMs to correct this concern (2004- parts #s 89666-0230 & 896610Z09, 2005 part #s 89661-02C0 & 89661-02C3).

No Start, No Crank

The Park/Neutral position switch may be faulty. Replace the Park/neutral position switch with an updated switch (# 84540-42010) to correct this concern.
