Organization Setting and Reporting The United Nations Human Settlements Programme, UN-Habitat, is the United Nations agency for human settlements. It is mandated by the UN General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities with the goal of providing adequate shelter for all. This post is located in Tehran, Islamic Republic of Iran, under the UN-Habitat Tehran Disaster Mitigation Office. Responsibilities Under the direct supervision of the Chief of the UN-Habitat Disaster Mitigation Office in Tehran, I.R. of Iran, the intern will practice and learn to:

1. Provide support with respect to the preparation of project documents and budgets. 2. Coordinate actions related to the administration of office and prepare, maintain and update files (electronic and paper) and internal databases. 3. Assist with the organization of conferences, workshops, seminars, UN-Habitat Headquarters missions and meetings; Prepare preliminary budget, invitation letters, book conference/meeting facilities and accommodation for participants keeping all records of expenditures in compliance with UN rules and regulations.

4. Assist with the recruitment of consultants including completion of personnel action form and verification of documentation required to process this in a timely manner. 5. Perform other administrative duties including arranging staff travel, maintenance of equipment and submission of inventory report. 6. Liaise and coordinate with UN-Habitat Headquarters on administrative and financial issues. 7. Liaise and coordinate with United Nations Recreation Center and United Nations Development Programme of the respective Regional office on administrative and financial issues, preparation of UN ground pass and extension of Laissez-Passer. 8. Perform other duties as may be assigned. Languages English and French are the official working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in written and oral English or Russian is required.
