The Masthead of my product is bold and placed at the top of the magazine to shows its importance, this is typial

of a music magazine. The font is typical of music magazines as media products use bubble style and thick font as opposed to thin italic font which I have chosen. I chose to challenge the typical convention to create a more sophisticated modern magazine. wavelength connotes that it is a frequency that you are in tuned to and you stay with the wavelength. The Main Image has been placed to the first third of the front cover. The model has direct address in order to engage the reader which helps to involve them. The choice of costume chosen could be seen as provocative in order to fit in with Laura Mulveys Male Gaze theory. The facial expression of the model is serious to give the magazine a mature feel.

The Barcode is up the top of the front cover to give more efficient room. This is done in many music magazines. Also featuring at the top of the cover is the Price, Date and Issue Number as these are not my USP but are needed.

The Main Cover Line is in white to stand out the most against the dark background. This clearly shows that the artist is the main subject of the magazine. The font is not usual of a music magazine but gives a feminine feel to the magazine and to the artist

The Gutter Line goes along the bottom of the front cover which contains more features. This is typical of a music magazine as it entices the audience into thinking the magazine has more content inside

The Cover Lines surround the right side of the model, this helps gives separate attention to both the model and the stories. The cover lines are the same font and colour to not draw attention away from the main article and give a more sophisticated look to the magazine. The stories used are interests of the target audience.

The Title is identical to the front cover. This gives a sense of uniform and synergy within the product. This is at the top of the page in order to show importance. I used black to make the title stand out with the masthead. A List Of Contents complies with the rule of thirds and creates a professional look to the magazine. The list of contents has been split into subcategories which is also a typical convention, I did this by making the sub-categories stand out against the background. The colours are consistent creating synergy throughout the product, giving a more professional look. Each story is wither black or white to make the stories stand out individually, creating curiosity for the reader The Gutter Line goes along the bottom of the contents which helps with synergy throughout the magazine.

Social Networking is included at the top of the page to make the audience aware that there is further information found online instead of just the magazine. This attracts the teenagers who are attached to social networking and the latest celebrity news.

The Editors Letter is a typical convention of a music magazine contents page. My editor letters complies with the rule of thirds. My editors letter makes the contents page informal and chatty and personal connecting the reader with the editor. There is a signature at the end to give a more personal friendly affect.

The Sub-Images stay in line with the rule of thirds giving a more sophisticated look to the magazine. I used two models with different backgrounds to give a range of colour and interest to look at. The page numbers apply to the colour scheme keeping synergy throughout and applying to the images whereabouts throughout the product.

The contents page has been arranged in the rule of thirds as this is a typical convention of a contents page. This creates a professional look to the product. I chose to develop this convention by using divider lines between the editors letter and the list of contents.

The QR Code attracts the more technological target audience who use their smart phones. This is quite big so the target audience are aware of the unique selling point. The text informs the buyer on what they will expect from scanning the code. This is a rare convention as magazines havent had the chance to become more technological.

The Title has been written in the same font but separated on top and bottom to attract the audience to the pages. The title bleeds over the middles line which a typical convention is making the two pages work together. The Title is in first person indicating it is a Quote but would only be known if the target audience read on, making the double page spread seems like it is an insight into the artist and her life.
The Background is the Main Image which allows the image to do the attracting. The model is giving direct address to draw the attention of the reader and the eyes are the main focus point. I have challenged the convention of the background by using it as a main image as it is enticing the target audience to read more about her.

The Article has been written in the rule of thirds as this is a key convention used in all double page spreads. The colour goes with the overall colour scheme to contribute to synergy of the product. The text compliments the background image and goes well with the pop alternative genre and the mature, sophisticated style. There is a use of a Drop cap convention which is common convention to create a professional look.

The Gutter Line keeps the product looking uniform with the previous pages and the Page Numbers are incorporated onto the ends to keep an organised, professional magazine.

The Sub-image has been placed above the text as it relates to it. Sub images are often used to create a more interesting look. I have developed the sub-image by editing the image to make the Lips and eyes coloured giving an unusual look and would attract readers. The boarder is the same colour as the text to keep the colour scheme uniform. This sub-image is used as an advertising image for the artist.
