We are the Geek Table, a collective of eight graduates from around the country, who met at Leeds College of Art, studying a BA (Hons) degree in Graphic Design, with a joint desire to protect the world from bad graphic design. Our name originates from our hard working nature and our dedication to our work, as we enjoy to creatively solve problems and continue to develop and learn as designers. We are a multi-talented group, with a varied range of interests including branding, packaging, publication design, illustration, typography and print. This publication showcases the varied responses to mini briefs we have set ourselves, with themes reflecting our individual graphic design experiences and processes. Brief 1 - What does geek mean to you? Brief 2 - What helps you to get in the graphic design zone? Brief 3 - What is your guilty pleasure to help you work hard? Brief 4 - What would your alter ego be? We have chosen two responses from each brief, to show how different we are as designers.

With a love for client collaboration, conceptualisation, and researchdriven design, upon graduation I hope to specialise in applied branding. I see myself as a motivated, ambitious, happy chappy, with a love for Europe, Gregory Peck movies, and patisserie. In the Zone This image represents how the themes of food and summer make me feel inspired and happy, keeping me motivated throughout the day and motivating me to work hard.

I love packaging! How creative you can be and how much fun you can have with it. I spend a lot of time ogling over beautiful packaging and in my other time I really enjoy designing it. Guilty Pleasure As a chocoholic, this packaging shows the joy and bliss that comes with the indulgence of chocolate - a well deserved treat for working hard!

I love the process of researching and digging until I have really got under the skin of a subject or problem; this drives my concept development. My design practice reflects my interest in the relationships between Brands, Culture and Lifestyle. In the Zone This record connotes how music helps me to get in the zone to work hard, keeps me motivated and inspires new ideas.

I am a print lover, specialising in working with image, including hand drawn or digital illustration and pattern design. The work I create has a strong focus on branding, product and packaging. I am driven by problem solving and creating interesting, innovative concepts to make my work stand out. Guilty Pleasure Caffeine keeps me going when there is a lot of graphic design to be created, and these Kawaii style illustrations show my guilty pleasure in a cute and innocent form.

I love working with typography, print and pattern and my practice has developed from projects based on branding, packaging and retail with a key interest in the beauty and fashion industry. Alter Ego As well as my love for graphic design, I am interested in make-up, and my alter ego would be a make-up artist as I also run my own beauty blog, www.processbeauty.co.uk

I am a graphic designer with a northern accent and a minor addiction to coffee. The main focus of my design practice is to explore the application of type and layout for print based designs within the areas of editorial, publication and promotion. Alter Ego I am Batman. My response brings together an interest in Lino printing and my alter ego, showing off my love of type and the contrasting use of black and white.

My Graphic Design interests lie within image making and branding. Hand rendered imagery in particular is something I really enjoy. I like to visit new places as I feel these experiences inspire my practice. Music also inspires me, it has got me through many briefs and really creates creative focus. What Geek Means to Me I have always loved to draw, and these hand-rendered tools are the four most important items in my pencil case, as I use them to bring my images to life.
