Brakeset installation

1. Ensure that the fork and frame brake mounting holes are clean and free of paint, dirt, or metal chips.

2. Install 1 or 2 of spacing washers ② in accordance to front fork width. Normally, 1 washer is needed. Should the brake shoes contact the frame, use an additional spacing washer. Slide

the brake pivot bolt through fork. Note: Front and rear brakes have different length pivot bolts. Use long bolt for front and short bolt for rear.

3. Adjust the brakeset main body ① to centered postion so the left and right pads are equal distance from rim. With brake centered, tighten the fixing nut ③ to a torque of 80-100 kgf.cm / 8-

10 Nm / 70-88 in.lbs. Note: The M4 centering fine tune adjustment set screw ⑧ will allow for micro-adjustment of brake pads for centering.

4. Loosen the M5 brake pad adjustment bolt ④ and adjust the brake pad to fit the profile of the rim braking surface. Ensure that pad contact with rim braking surface is flat. Tighten the M5

brake pad adjustment screw ④ to 50-70 kgf.cm / 5-7 Nm / 45-60 in.lbs.

5. Ensure cable housing is seated in barrel adjuster ⑤ and cable is seated in M5 cable attachment boss ⑥. With quick release in ‘closed’ positon, tighten the boss to a torque of 60-80

kgf.cm / 6-8 Nm / 53-71 in.lbs. Cut excess cable to adequate length. Note: The recommended brake pad clearance is 1-3mm.

6. Check brake pads for wear. Replace brake pads before wear reaches wear indicator line. Turn the barrel adjuster ⑤counter-clockwise for lower cable tension: moves pads away from rim.

Turn the barrel adjuster ⑤clockwise for higher cable tension: moves pads closer to rim.

7. Pad Removal: Flip up the quick release ⑦ in ‘open’ position to release tension on brake cable and increase the clearance of brake pads and the rim. Loosen the M5 brake pad

adjustment bolt ④ to remove brake pad holder. Loosen the brake pad fixing bolt ⑨ and slide brake pad out of brake pad holder. Installation is reverse procedure of Pad Removal. Note:

Model BK-RO-6020 is designed without brake pad fixing bolt ⑨ for pad removal.
