Whats New in vDirect SDK

This section describes the new features and components introduced in this version. Please refer to vDirect SDK document for further details. Feature 1 Enhanced Security vDirect now supports SNMPv3 and SOAP over HTTPS for enhanced security, as follows: SNMPv3 support vDirect communicates with the ADC devices using SSH and SNMPv3 by default. SOAP over HTTPS vDirect SOAP is accessible via HTTPS. Feature 2 ADC Workflow ADC workflow enables full control of the ADC configuration lifecycle (created, update, read and delete). It uses the rich functionality of ADC Templates as actions, while allowing you to easily binding together the different configuration states as a single entity. ADC Workflow includes: ADC workflow instances that capture that state of the configuration and govern what the possible next actions are. Handling of possible errors and reverting back to the previous state. Support for dry runs and debugging. Sample workflows, including examples on how to configure highly available ADC services. Feature 3 Enhanced ADC Templates The following enhancements are in addition to the initial feature introduced in vDirect version 1.20: Default values for descriptors on input/output parameters, and the ability to check the ADC response to commands as part of the template script. Logging as part of the ADC template using the #log directive. Stopping the ADC template flow and returning error messages using the #error directive. Storing meta data as part of the template using the #property directive. Multi-ADC device operation using the #device and #select directives. Improved matching functions ($adc.findFirstByBroadcast, $adc.findAllByBroadcast) for IPv4 addresses. ADC CLI response inspection using ($adc.getResponse). Feature 4 Enhanced Provisioning and Configuration of Highly Available ADC Services The ADC service request now supports provisioning highly available symmetric ADC pairs of two Alteon VA instances or two Alteon VX instances. Resource management for creating the following HA configuration parameters: o IP pools o VRRP pools o ISL pools o networks

A workflow demonstrating the Layer 2-7 configuration of highly available ADC services.

Feature 5 Enhanced CLI vDirect CLI is available as a standalone executable which is part of the vDirect client libraries, or when connecting via SSH to vDirect VA. The following enhancements are in addition to the vDirect CLI that was introduced in vDirect version 1.20: ADC workflow management o Uploading/downloading ADC workflow templates. o Instantiating, updating, deleting and debugging ADC workflow instances. New resource management parameters: o IP pools o VRRP pools o ISL pools o networks ADC service requests for provisioning HA pairs for Alteon VA and Alteon VX-based technologies. Enhancements introduced in version 1.30.10 Use an ADC Template without an ADC device by adding the #mockdevice(true) directive at the beginning of an ADC template file. Use Alteon operation commands and read information for Alteon without locking the device by adding the #devicelock(false) directive to the beginning of an ADC template file. After an ADC workflow step completes, you can now store the transient property __generatedScript as a persistent ADC Workflow property. This allows you to generate the Alteon configuration text by running an ADC workflow action. Major bugs fixed in version 1.30.10 ADC templates fail over telnet connections with Alteon when more than the default admin user is defined in the Alteon device. Previously, ADC templates failed over telnet connections with Alteon when users other than the default admin user were defined in the Alteon device. Now, telnet connections are maintained with any user logon. The Web-based UI no longer fails after inactivity of 10 days or more.

Whats New in vDirect Plug-in for VMware vCenter Orchestrator (VCO)

The plug-in is currently a major update to vDirect Plug-in for VMware vCenter Orchestrator version 1.20.10. vDirect Plug-in for VCO now requires the installation of vDirect VA in addition to installing the vDirect Plug-in for VCO. vDirect exposes a new web-based UI embedded as part of the VMware vCenter Orchestrator Configuration UI. The vDirect Configuration UI enables the management of the following configurations: o ADC containers o IP pools
