Conducted any additional research that you believe would enhance a presentation on analysing your corporations external business environment OR its internal business environment. That is, your presentation should either focus on the external business environment (and if so, either general or specific) or on the internal business environment BUT NOT ALL.

External business environment analysis Given time constraints on your presentation, the first decision your group needs to make is whether your analysis will focus on the specific business environment or the general business environment. It may be that a more insightful analysis can be conduct using the specific business environment than would be the case for the general business environment, or vice versa. At the end of the day your group needs to choose one perspective or the other. If your analysis is to focus on a specific perspective, then your presentation will need to consider the following: customers concentrate on identifiable first tier customers suppliers concentrate on identifiable first-tier suppliers competitors concentrate on direct rather than indirect competitors public pressure groups, e.g. environmental groups such as Greenpeace, or other stakeholders such the Australian shareholders association, Australian Consumer and Competition Commission (ACCC)

On the other hand, if your analysis is to focus on a general perspective, then your presentation will need to consider the following:

global for example, consider the dependency of the corporation on overseas markets; the level of activity the corporation has in overseas markets as compared to domestic markets economic for example, consider sensitivity to domestic economic conditions such as interest rates, end consumer sentiment, dependence on other sectors of the economy such as the construction industry political/legal issues of compliance with government regulation such as the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, the Australian Consumer and Competition Commission, the Australian Taxation Office, etc. socio-cultural issues such as: work/life balance and flexible work hours or onsite child care facilities; equal employment opportunity initiatives, programs related to indigenous people or other diversity issues, etc. demographic issues about ageing of the population and impact on workforce or on customer base technological dependence or otherwise on technology

Internal business environment analysis 1. 2. 3. 4. With respect to the internal environment what are the major topics covered in the annual report that are related to the corporations organisational culture? What would evidence is there in the annual report that would indicate a strong organisation culture; alternatively are there indications that the corporations organisation culture is weak? What do the corporations annual reports have to say about the corporations stories, rituals and material symbols? Analyse what is disclosed in the annual reports with respect to the following four ASX principles of corporate governance: Lay solid foundations for management and oversight Structure the board to add value Promote ethical and responsible decision-making Safeguard integrity in financial reporting

Analyse what is disclosed in the annual reports with respect to the following four ASX principles of corporate governance: Remunerate fairly and responsibly Recognise and manage risks Respect the rights of shareholders Make timely and balanced disclosure Your starting point will be the three annual reports of your corporation, but you will need to consider other sources, such as Factiva, in developing your presentation.
