On 06·01·99, at about 10:30 a.m. I telephoned the Yazzie residence as follow up on DN3883, At that time, I spoke with
Kathleen Yazzie, Levi's mother. Kathleen confirmed what Levi had told me about student Scott Shaffer on 05·28·99

months due to problems he'd been having with his mother. Kathleen said that Scott recently drove to Oregon for an extended
camping trip with his father. and that upon their return. Scott plans to move out ofber home and in with his father, somewhere
in the Denver metro area.
Kathleen then told me that her son, Levi Yazzie, was not at Columbine High School during the shootings on 04·20·99, She
said iliat on 04-19-99, Levi, who played on the school's varsity baseball team, injured his knee, On 04-20-99, Kathleen said
that Levi's knee was still bothering him, and that he called her from school after his third period to see if she would phone in
an excused absence for his fourth period. Kathleen said that she then called the school for such excused absence, and that Levi
came home, Kathleen said that Levi arrived home at about 10:30 a.m., and stayed for lunch. Kathleen said that Levi then
returned to school at about 12: IS p.m, Kathleen said that about ten minutes later, Levi phoned her from a friend's (Ryan
McGrath I 12") cell phone to report what had occurred at the school and that he was OK. Kathleen said that she told Levi to

Columbine High School. While on scene, three young men were taken
into custody in the area of the park that were similar in appearance
to the possible suspects in this shooting. One of the persons taken
into custody was a James Brunetti. Jeffco S.O. Sergeant Pat Woodin
requested I interview Mr. Brunetti.
I then read Mr. Brunetti his rights per Miranda reading from my
pre-printed card. When asked if he understood his rights he
replied, "Yes." When asked if he would tell his side of the story
he replied, "Oh , yeah." Brunetti then told me the following:
* He lives with his mother, Joanie, and his sister, Jannine. His
mother works at C.U. Boulder but he did not know in what capacity.
* When asked what he was doing this date from the time .he woke
up, he said he had stayed the night at Matt Akard's home. They woke
up around 10:00 a.m. and Matt Nalty called over there around 10:30
a.m. They had all planned on going to a concert in Littleton for a
band called, "Drop kick Murphy.'
2 Jc.oQ1- 007438
* He said they approached scme cops to ask questions then the
cops took them into custody with weapons drawn.
Mr. Brunetti then was taken by another van where a GSR kit was
completed. The three young men were then released and told to leave
the scene.
Within the next few days I received a call from Mr. Brunetti saying
that the cops were following him and he wanted SOme kind of written
statement that he and his friends were no longer suspects. I also
received a message to call Matt Nalty who also was saying he wanted
to be officially cleared. I made no follow-up calls to Mr. Malty.

he was aware of what was taking place over at the school and if he
had been able to observe any of the activi~y. They advised
Investigator Eaton that when this male could not provide any
information they then decided to get closer to the sohool in the
hope$ of either seeing some of the activity or speaking with other
persons aware of what was taking place. All three Subjects deny
making any statements to any persona that they were friends of the
suspects and were on their way to Columbine High School to help the
suspects:.
On Wednesday, May 5, 1999 at approximately 1235 hours,
Investigator Eaton once again spoke with James Brunetti on the
telephone. Investigator Eaton asked Brunetti specific questions
about his; Nalty'g and Akard;s contact with Chicota in Clement
Park, Investigator Eaton asked Brunetti if he recalled making
contact with and speaking with a male on a dirt mound who had
binoculars and was attempted to view the school with the
binoculars. Brunetti advised Investigator Eaton that he recalled
making contact with tha~ male. In~estiga~or Eaton asked Brunetti
to explain once again to Investigator Eaton any conversations they
may have had with the male whom Investigator Eaton has identified
as Chicota. Brunetti advised Investigator Eaton that the three of
them asked the male if he was able to see what was caking place at
the school but that the male advised them he didn't know because he
couldn't see much from his location. Investigator Eaton asked
Brunetti if he or the others had advised the male that they had
friends at the school, either suspects or victims. Brunetti
advised Investigator Eaton they didn't discuss anything else with
the male except for questioning him about the activity at the
school. Investigator Eaton aSked Brunetti if he or the other two
had told the male on the dirt mound if they had previous knowledge
of what was going to take place due to communications on the
Internet wich friends. Brunetti once again denied making any such
statements. It should be noted that Brunetti advised Investigator
Eaton that he and Malty had spent the previous two days in New York

talk show host. He advised that while there he and Walty took a
polygraph and they were attempting to get the results and questions

Per information control sheet #1789, I contacted (W)HalI at her residence, regarding information she might
have of possible suspectaccomplices.
(W)Hal1 stated, that on the evening of 04-1 5-99 she was at Columbine High School, attending her daughters
elementary school music program. The program, which was heldin the gymnasium, ended at 8:30pm. Before
leaving, her 10 year old daughter, Patricia neededto use the restroom. (W)Hall allowed Patricia and her 6th
grade mend. Heather Hanson, to go to the restroom alone. The children used the restrooms near the
cafereria, returned and they left the school.
On 04-20·99. after the shootings, they were watching media reports ofthe event. Her daughter observed a
photo ofDylan Klebold on T.v. and advised (W)Hail she had seenhim in the schoolthe night of the music
program. (W)Hall stated, her daughter described how Klebold had a goatee and was standing with two other
males. They were all dressed in black, no trench coats, and had heavy chains around their necks. The trio
were standing near the top of the stairs, abovethe cafeteria and were not causing any trouble, although
