On Thursday, April 25, 2013 at 1:30 PM, a Bryn Mawr woman (age 46) and her two children (5 year old twins) were crossing Lancaster Avenue at Bryn Mawr Avenue when they were struck by a black Ford F150 pickup truck which had traveled north from Bryn Mawr Avenue turning west onto Lancaster Avenue. The truck did not stop at the scene and continued westbound on Lancaster Avenue. The mother and her two children were transported by ambulance to Bryn Mawr Hospital for treatment of their injuries. One of the children sustained serious injuries which consisted of a skull fracture and fractures to the left hip and pelvis. Due to the severity of her injuries she was transferred to A.I. duPont Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware but has since been released. On April 25, 2013 at 3:45 PM, a black Ford F-150 pickup truck was observed parked in the parking lot of Bryn Mawr College's "West House" on Wyndon Avenue, Bryn Mawr. This parking lot is located approximately one-half mile north of the crash scene, in the direction that the striking Ford F-150 was last seen traveling. The vehicles front wheels were turned all the way to the left, the headlights were on and the doors were locked. The registered owner of this Ford truck was interviewed and indicated that the Ford must have been stolen as it was no longer parked near his house in Havertown. At this point the truck was impounded and towed to the police impound garage. Search warrants were obtained for cell records and the impounded Ford vehicle. There was no evidence to indicate that the vehicle had been tampered with or damaged by theft. Cell records indicated that the owner of the Ford was in the vicinity of the crash site just moments after the event. Based on the above information, on May 15, 2013 an arrest warrant was served on Stephen John GROCH, the Ford owner, charging him with the following: 3742 A- Accidents Involving Death or Physical injury 3742 A- Accidents Involving Death or Physical injury 3744 A- Duty to Give Information and Render Aid 3112 A1- Traffic Control Signals Felony 3 (1 count) Misdemeanor 1 (2 counts) Summary (1 count) Summary (1 count)
