Course Title

CARE OF CLIENTS WITH PROBLEMS IN INFLAMMATORY AND IMMUNOLOGIC RESPONSE AND PERCEPTION AND COORDINATION Course Description : This course deals with the concepts, principles and theories of human behavior and the care of the sick client across the lifespan with emphasis on the adult and the older person, population group experiencing alterations in Inflammatory and Immunologic Response and perception and coordination in varied settings. Contact hours : Course Objectives : At the end of the course and given actual clients, population group, with problems in inflammatory and immunologic response and perception and coordination, the student should be able to: A. Utilize the nursing process in the care of individuals, families in community and hospital settings. Name of the Institution : Unit/Area Assigned : Description of the Learners : The students belong to the Level 4 of their nursing education who had finished their concepts in Nursing Care Management (NCM) 100, 101, 102, 103, 105 and have successfully passed the necessary requirements in the level. Description of the Setting : The clinical exposure will take place at the St. Joseph Unit of St. Paul Hospital Tuguegarao situated at the 2nd floor, east wing of the new building of the hospital. Length of Exposure : The students will be exposed for 2 weeks in St. Joseph Unit of St. Paul Hospital Tuguegarao

Matrix: OBJECTIVES At the end of the rotation in the area, the student will be able to: 1. discuss the visionmission of the institution, the policies, procedures and protocols in the area. - Articulates the vision, mission of the institution - Acts in accordance with the established norms of conduct of the institution. every week (3 days). The learning plan serves as a basis for the clinical instructor in making the patients assignment. It is important to stress to the students the focus of the course. Incidental learning may occur and the clinical instructor should be able to identify these. Tour in the Area - The clinical instructor presents to the students the different areas in the unit. These include the nurses station, endorsement area, medication area, working area, handwashing area, draining/waste disposal area, utility room, supply room, equipment room and restroom. - The clinical instructor shall also present to the students the safety devices such as fire extinguisher, smoke detector device, buzzer, and fire exits. - Moreover, the clinical instructor shall discuss the DOs and DONTs in the area while performing the clinical duty.

Development of a Health Education Plan The clinical instructor asks the student to carefully examine the child and identify his/her health needs at the moment. From the data, the clinical instructor asks the student to develop a health education plan to explain the health status of the Adult. SIDE-BY-SIDE TEACHING The clinical instructor may act as a role model when he/she is performing an assessment as needed. The clinical instructor observes the student while obtaining information from the adult or family member and identify and address challenges. The clinical instructor may alternate with the student duties of examining the patient, writing relevant information to countercheck students outputs. DIRECT OBSERVATION The clinical instructor observes the student in the performance of safety measures, comfort measures and measures to ensure privacy.
