Wouldn't Chromaveil be a better conditioner ingredient vs. shampoo? Answer: CHROMAVEIL works in both shampoos and conditioners. However, weve seen that it has much better performance in a shampoo system. In a conditioner, CHROMAVEIL must be formulated with another quat to provide enhanced conditioning/detangling benefits. Furthermore, CHROMAVEIL ALONE does not have the emulsification properties to keep a conditioner system together. For this reason, when it is formulated in a conditioner with another cationic conditioning ingredient, the two cationic ingredients may compete for the negative sites on the hair surface, thus allowing for slightly less deposition of CHROMAVEIL from a conditioner as opposed to a shampoo. Thus, CHROMAVEIL offers good UV protection in a conditioner compared to a control conditioner without CHROMAVEIL. However, you will get much better color retention benefits when it is formulated into a shampoo product. Has this been tested with several different shades e.g. auburn, brown, blond, etc.? Answer: CHROMAVEIL was tested on a Medium Brown shade and a Medium Auburn (reddish) shade. What was the % of Chromaveil used in the shampoo? Answer: 1.5% active ChromAveil was used in the shampoo study. ChromAveil is supplied as a 75% active liquid material. How do you measure the UV damage on hair? Answer: We expose treated tresses to UV irradiation for a certain number of days under simulated sunlight using a weatherometer. Then, we measure color loss/color protection using a spectro-colorimeter by taking L, a, b reading. UV damage can also be measured by looking at Tryptophan degradation via spectrofluorometry. This type of damage can occur when UV light breaks S-S bonds inside the hair fiber, causing hair to experience a loss in cystine with a corresponding increase in cysteic acid. Such disruptions to the disulfide linkages of the hair fiber can have a major impact on the mechanical properties of the hair, resulting in a loss of tensile strength and an increase in porosity. UV damage at the hair surface causes the cuticle to become roughened and fragile, affecting the texture of the hair and making it harder to comb. Can all these materials be together in one formulation? Answer: We havent gone through the exercise of formulating these ingredients together, but ideally, they could be used together. Can we have the presentation? Not all of my team was able to attend. Answer: Yes, the presentation and recording will be available for download shortly. Are there any botanical/natural ingredients that prolong the hair color? Answer: Yes, we offer our botanical CRODAMAZON CASTANHA DO BRASIL (INCI Name: Bertholletia Excelsa Seed Oil) which has proven to increase hair color retention when incorporated into a hair dye product. We have data that shows 30% less color fade after successive washing and exposure to UV radiation, compared to hair treated with a hair dye product with no CRODAMAZON CASTANHA DO BRASIL. From our Sederma actives line, we also offer HELIOGENOL (INCI Name: Butylene Glycol-Helianthus

annuus (Sunflower seed extract) which has strong free-radical scavenging properties, thus can help protect and repair natural or dyed hair against UV irradiation. This product can be used in any hair care products (i.e. shampoos, conditioners, masks, styling aids, etc) You have done 15 days of UV radiation study, how do you compare that to actual exposure in real life? Answer: Our UV irradiation study is done under simulated sunlight using an Atlas Ci 3000+ Xenon Weather Ometer. Each hair tress is exposed for 3 hours on each side for a total of 6 hours, which is equivalent to one day of UV exposure. So for 15 days, we would do a total of about 90 hours of exposure in the weatherometer. If already using Incroquat UV 283 how does this compare to protection from Chromaveil? Answer: INCROQUAT UV-283 now known as CRODASORB UV-283, provides protection from UVB damage, thus it will help to preserve the natural color of the hair from fading. CHROMAVEIL on the other hand will offer protection from BOTH UVA and UVB exposure, so youre getting protection of both artificial hair color and natural color. Re: Chromaveil protection how did the protected hair sample compare to initial appearance? Answer: If you refer to slide #37 of the presentation, you can see that the tress treated with a shampoo containing ChromAveil retained more color than the tress treated with the shampoo without ChromAveil. This difference in the color of the tresses was consumer perceivable. What is lowest ph that can be used with Arlasilk PLN? Answer: The product can be used at a pH as low as 3. What's the allergenic profile of these ingredients, especially when non allergenic dyes are used? Answer: Please contact your sales representative for complete information regarding allergy profiles of our products What kind of products could be applied with Chromaveil? Answer: CHROMAVEIL can be formulated in shampoos, conditioners, rinse-off and leave-on, styling products. What products do you have to enhance and facilitate the uptake of color in a salon? Answer: We offer Crodafos HCE which is proven to enhance dye penetration in the hair when formulated into hair colorants, as well as a product known as VibraRiche which is proven to improve the hair color vibrance factor when formulated into colorants. How does Chromaveil protect hair from UVA and UVB rays? I know it does not block like skin sun blocker does. Answer: ChromAveil is a methoxycinnamic diester quat that absorbs in the UVA and UVB range. Its UV absorbance efficiency was tested to be about 58% more effective than a competitive broad spectrum UV absorber. Its cationic nature makes it very substantive to hair allowing it to provide that UV protection.

I am working on color depositing conditioners. Which one do you recommend to deposit color on hair? I have problem with color deposition to hair. Its a rinse off conditioner formula. Answer: This sounds like an interesting project, we have not looked at color deposition from conditioners however our Crodazosoft DBQ has been proven to deliver other ingredients such as silicone to the hair so I would recommend trying it for color deposition. You show a shampoo sulfate free, the sulfates could affect the hair color? Why it is a benefit? Answer: Sulfates tend to be harsh and strip the color more than a sulfate-free shampoo would. What about polyquat ernium 59? Compare to Chromaveil. Answer: We have not compared Polyquaternium 59 to ChromAveil. How did the tresses treated with the weatherometer compare to the initial dye-out? (before UV exposure?) Answer: Some color loss resulted after UV exposure compared to the initial dye-out. However, we say more color retention when you compared tresses treated with ChromAveil vs. those without ChromAveil. Which of these products can be used as a treatment to wash off the hair dye right after applied? Answer: These products are used to protect from color fade, not to wash off color. Have you tried the Everpure and Color Protection Shampoos and how do you think they perform? Answer: Personally I have tried the Everpure formulations however I do not have color treated hair so I cannot say if they help to protect dyed hair. Will be the hair color expert be at Incosmetics?
