Football is one of the world's most popular games. It is played in nearly every country, by everyone from kids in vacant lots and back streets to professional players in giant stadiums. Professional football is watched by billions of people all over the world, and is probably the world's most popular spectator sport. Football is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players using a spherical ball. It is widely considered to be the most popular sport in the world. The game is played on a rectangular grass or artificial turf field (or pitch), with a goal at each end. The object of the game is to score by driving the ball into the opposing goal. In general, the goalkeepers are the only players allowed to use their hands or arms the rest of the team usually use their feet to kick the ball into position, occasionally using their torso or head to intercept a ball. The team that scores the most goals by the end of the match wins. The equipment is not very sophisticated.
