List of Moral Values for Lesson Planning

These few day s hav e been a blur... because things are happening so fast! I hav e lots to blog about, but because I'm short of time, I'll just post this list of moral v alues. It's useful for teachers and trainees alike in planning lessons as in ev ery lesson plan, y ou must alway s include at least one moral v alue to accompany y our lesson content! This is from the ministry , there's a short introduction to it, but I don't hav e it now- will post when I find it! Please understand that I am not plagiarising or any thing! Hehe. Nor am I posting this just for the mere sake of posting. I just think this would be good for future teachers to know. MORAL VALUES IN T HE ISSC Background A Moral Education Committee (Jawatankuasa Pendidikan Akhlak) was formed in 1 97 6 comprising prominent members respecting v arious religions in the country . This committee deliberated on moral v alues inherent in each religion and finally identified 1 6 univ ersal moral v alues supported by all. In the ISSC, these 1 6 umbrella v alues hav e been ex panded to 80 v alues.

When I wrote lesson plans as part of my assignments, I was also scratching my head because I didn't hav e a list of moral v alues (which is an essential element in all lesson plans- y ou can look at the ex ample I'v e prov ided), until one of my lecturers gav e us a list when we were in IIUM. Kalau program TESL y ang sepenuhny a bawah univ ersiti baru dihantar ke sekolah menengah. Insy a-Allah TESL tak susah dapat kerja. Princess Dory : Y ou're welcome! Each lecturer is different, I guess. My lecturer said if we were to put 5 MV s in one lesson, we'd nev er get around to making sure they were deliv ered. So I mostly only put one or two MV s in 1 lesson. Do y ou mean that if there are 5 components in 1 lesson, y ou hav e to hav e 5 different MV s? *gasps Reply

I think it's best to ask y our lecturer. Howev er, from my own ex perience, y ou should only include the moral v alues that y ou intend to insert in y our lesson. If y ou'v e listed 2 moral v alues in y our LP, y ou hav e to make sure both are mentioned/applied in y our lesson. Don't put in too many , y ou might not hav e the time or ev en remember to apply them. I usually put at most 2 or 3 MV s, nev er more. Most of the time I only put 1 , to make things easy . I hope this helps. Reply
