Administrative Matters The information contained within this Registration Guide is accurate as at 25 February 2013. Further updates, if any, will be posted on the registration website at http://www.nus.edu.sg/registrar/event/registration.html. (a) Pre-Registration All new full-time NUS undergraduate students are to use their Application Number and the first 8digits of the Password/PIN to login to the online Pre-Registration System https://isisprereg.nus.edu.sg/ from Monday, 4 March 2013 onwards to verify and update their personal particulars and download the required forms (see pages 5 6) for submission on Registration Day. Upon login, navigate to: Self-Service > Student Admission > Pre-Registration > Information for Students and follow the instructions. The entire Pre-Registration process will take about 10 minutes. Please note that it is compulsory to complete the online pre-registration before reporting to the Registration Centre. You are strongly advised to complete your Pre-Registration by Thursday, 7 March 2013. Once you have successfully completed Pre-Registration, you will be able to retrieve the following important information from the Pre-Registration System: Student ID (also printed on your Student Card) Student PIN NUSNET ID* NUSNET Password* * Your NUSNET ID and Password, which is used for access to a variety of online resources in NUS, will be activated one day after successful completion of Pre-Registration. You are not to share your Student ID and PIN, NUSNET ID and Password with anyone as they are confidential information. (b) Registration Schedule Please note that late submission of your photo may result in the Student Card being collected separately at a later date after the registration day. You are to you login to the online photo submission system https://aces01.nus.edu.sg/photoVerification/PhotoVerificationNewLoginServlet?hAction=newStudent with your Application Number and PIN and submit your photo between 15 February to 22 March 2013. Your photograph submission will be processed within 1 week. Please login to the same system again after 1 week to check whether your photograph has been approved. If the photograph is rejected, you are required to re-submit a new photograph before the deadline. The schedule is based on the first name that appears in the NUS offer letter to you. So, students with names such as Ang Ling Ling, Ali bin Zainal, Arun s/o Sivalingam and Andrew Polanski etc, are to report to the Registration Centre under the timing indicated for the A - JO group.

Students who wish to use their PSEA funds for payment of Special Terms fees should submit an Ad Hoc Withdrawal Form which can be downloaded from http://www.moe.edu.sg/initiatives/post-secondary-educationaccount/files/psea-adhoc-form.doc. (Please do not confuse with the PSEA Standing Order Form which cannot be used for Special Terms fees). GIRO Application Form Students are strongly encouraged to make payment via GIRO. To make payment via GIRO, please update both your credit and debit bank accounts details online via MyISIS (https://myisis.nus.edu.sg/). You should be able to download the Interbank GIRO form from MyISIS once your debit bank account detail is updated. You can also submit the GIRO form to Student Service Centre (located at level 1, Yusof Ishak House) by Monday, 13 May 2013. The form is to be submitted by the aforementioned due date or within 3 weeks of submission of bank details online, whichever is earlier. Please download the form http://nus.edu.sg/uhc/healthservice/downloads/UG%20Medical%2 0Report%20Form.pdf before visiting UHC. All incoming undergraduate students enrolling in the Special Term must undergo a pre-enrolment medical examination from 1 April 2013 to 30 April 2013. Admission to NUS is subject to your good health and absence from organic diseases. The University reserves the right to refuse your admission to or exclude you from any particular course of study if you decline to undergo such health examinations or to be tested for any organic or communicable disease.

Please note that these Forms are downloadable from the Pre-Registration system and have to be duly completed, signed and submitted on Registration Day in order for you to be successfully registered as a student. If you are below 18 years of age, please note that your parent/guardian is required to fill in and sign Forms 1, 2 and 3 on your behalf.

(d) Late Registration Students who, due to official reasons, are unable to report for registration as per planned scheduled are required to seek approval for late registration. Please download and complete the Application for Late Registration Form from https://share.nus.edu.sg/registrar/info/forms/Applicationfor-Late-registration-Form.pdf and email to the Registrars Office at UGRegistration@nus.edu.sg by Monday, 22 April 2013. If approved, you will be informed of an alternative registration date by email.

Academic Matters (a) Qualifying English Test QET Students who do not possess the necessary English Language qualifications are required to sit for the Qualifying English Test (QET). The purpose of the QET is to discern the level of English Language support appropriate for such students. Date : Wednesday, 17 July 2013 (tentative) Time : 9.30 am to 11.15 am Duration : 1 hour 45 minutes

UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS SPECIAL TERM AY2012/2013 Registration for QET: Students who need to take the QET are to register for this test online at https://isisprereg.nus.edu.sg from 4 to 9 July 2013. Upon login, navigate to: Self-Service > Student Centre. Under Academics section, click on the QET/DET Registration link and follow the instructions for registration. If you are unable to register online, please email qet@nus.edu.sg for assistance. If you are unable to sit for the QET on Wednesday, 17 July 2013, you are required to sit for the next QET in November (date to be announced later). (b) Special Term Module Registration Students may register for modules in either Special Term Part 1 or Special Term Part 2, or both. Students are required to register for the lecture and tutorial classes separately on different dates during each registration period. Please refer to the schedule at https://share.nus.edu.sg/registrar/info/specialterm/ST-Registration-Schedule.pdf The module registration is to be done online at the Special Term Registration System (STRS): https://sit.aces01.nus.edu.sg/sts/StudentLogin. You will need to login using the NUSNET ID and password which you will obtain after completing the Online Pre-Registration (refer to page 3 for preregistration information). (c) Semester 1 Module Registration Information on module registration for Semesters 1 and 2 of AY2012/2013 is available at the Centralised Online Registration System (CORS) website at http://www.nus.edu.sg/cors/. Please check the website regularly for updated information. All new full-time NUS undergraduate students are to use their NUSNET account to login to CORS to register for their modules at Round 1C (1 2 August 2013).

Financial Matters (a) Fees For detailed information on tuition fees payable for different categories of government-subsidised undergraduate programmes, please refer to the following document:

(b) Mandatory Miscellaneous Fees Miscellaneous fees are typically levied on items that are either not covered or partially covered by tuition fee and grant. All students, whether registered on a full-time or part-time basis, are charged the mandatory miscellaneous fees. These are due at the same time as the tuition fees. These fees help defray the costs of student activity, health services and insurance, campus shuttle service and other services. UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS SPECIAL TERM AY2012/2013 (c) Payment of Fees In line with the governments efforts to promote electronic payment, all students are requested to pay their fees through GIRO. The process to apply for payment by GIRO (Debit Bank Account) is as follows: For Debit Bank Account: Upon login (https://myisis.nus.edu.sg), navigate to: Self-Service > Campus Finances > Maintain Bank Accounts > Debit Bank Account Details section > Add a new Debit Bank Account hyperlink. Follow the instructions to fill up the form and then print out the completed form. Please sign the form and submit on Registration Day or to the Student Service Centre located at Yusof Ishak House, Level 1 by Monday, 13 May 2013. The Form is to be submitted by the aforementioned due date or within 3 weeks of submission of bank details online, whichever is earlier. For more information on Debit Bank Account or Credit Bank Account, please refer to the following link: http://www.nus.edu.sg/finance/student/financialServices/faq/GIRO.html. Fees are to be paid before a stipulated deadline, failing which a late fee would be imposed. Please refer to the Office of Financial Services website for information on the payment deadline as well as mode of payment at: http://www.nus.edu.sg/finance/student/financialServices/notice/index.html.

(d) Application for MOE Tuition Grant Undergraduate education at NUS is highly subsidised by the Government of Singapore, which pays for the bulk of the operating costs besides the infrastructural costs. The tuition subsidy from the Government of Singapore comes in the form of a tuition grant which is administered by the Ministry of Education (MOE) and offered to all admitted students. FAQ and details are available on http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/post-secondary/files/tuitiongrant-faqs.pdf. Singapore Citizens Please download the Application Form for Tuition Grant via the Pre-Registration system and submit it on the Registration day, duly signed and completed, for onward transmission to MOE. Singapore Permanent Residents and International Students Please apply via MOE website from 19 to 26 August 2013. Please check for updated information on the MOE Tuition Grant on https://tgonline.moe.gov.sg/docs/TG-FAQ.pdf

(e) Financial Assistance Please see http://www.nus.edu.sg/oam/financialaid/index.html for the various financial assistance schemes available to NUS undergraduates. Disbursement of financial aid funds is subject to students fulfillment of all the loan and/or bursary requirements. The financial aid funds will be first used to clear all outstanding tuition fees, MMF and hostel fees (if applicable) before any balance is credited to students bank account. Information on the Credit Bank Account Details and Payment Address can be found at: http://www.nus.edu.sg/finance/student/financialServices/faq/GIRO.html. A summary of some schemes is listed below: Application for Tuition Fee Loan (TFL) Scheme (optional) Students who wish to apply for loans under the Tuition Fee Loan scheme can choose either of two banks, DBS Bank or OCBC Bank. The loan application form can be downloaded from the

UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS SPECIAL TERM AY2012/2013 Office of Financial Aid website at http://www.nus.edu.sg/oam/financialaid/loans/financialloans-tutionfee.html. The deadline for submitting the loan application form is 26 April 2013 for both Special Term Part 1 and Part 2 intakes. Application for Central Provident Fund (CPF) Education Scheme (optional) Singapore Citizens who wish to apply for the use of CPF savings for Special Term Part 1 under the CPF Education Scheme are required to apply online through the CPF Boards website at: http://mycpf.cpf.gov.sg/Members/Gen-Info/FAQ/Education/EDNHigh.htm from 1 to 29 April 2013.

Medical Examination (a) Pre-Enrollment Medical Examination (Compulsory for ALL Students) Students who have done the medical examination at University Health Center (UHC) need not submit the medical report. Students who have done their medical examination elsewhere other than UHC will need to submit the completed pre-enrolment medical report form together with original copies of the laboratory test and chest x-ray report. Students who have done similar health check-up within 6 months must still complete Part 1 of the form and submit it together with documentary proof of the medical examination done earlier. RNS Special Term Intake students should take note that the online medical examination booking http://www.nus.edu.sg/uhc/healthservice/PreME.html will start on 11 March 2013 tentatively. The booking is for medical examination from 1 April 2013 to 30 April 2013. During this stipulated period, x-ray service will be available from Monday to Friday and GST will be waived. Should you choose to come any day aside from the stipulated period, GST will be applicable and that X-ray service will only be available on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday only. NUS Student Insurance Scheme Every full-time student is required to purchase the Universitys Health and Insurance Scheme. The Scheme comprises 3 components: Personal Accident Insurance Coverage Hospitalization, Surgical & Mental Health Insurance Scheme University Health Scheme Details of the coverage as well as information on claims procedures are provided at http://www.nus.edu.sg/uhc/healthservice/insurance/index.html Students are also advised to purchase additional travel insurance to cover items such as accidents, lost luggage or trip cancellation that may occur during the trip to and from Singapore.

UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS SPECIAL TERM AY2012/2013 Other Useful Information (a) University Rules and Regulations As a student of the University, you must comply with the Statutes and Regulations, and the requirements of the Senate in the exercise of its authority. You should behave honourably and endeavour to maintain and enhance the good name of the University at all times. The University will not accept a plea of ignorance as an excuse for a breach of any rule. Please see http://www.nus.edu.sg/registrar/adminpolicy/statutes.html for more details. You are advised to read and be familiar with the Universitys Code of Student Conduct which can be found at http://www.nus.edu.sg/osa/so/guidelines/student-conduct The University may be required to contact the next-of-kin of students in the event of a crisis or emergency. Therefore, having ready information on the next-of-kin is part of our efforts in ensuring that the University is ready to deal with such a situation.

(b) Student Card and NUS Email Your NUSNET account and NUS Email will be activated one day after the completion of your Pre-Registration. Should you forget your password, you can seek help by sending an email to ITCare@nus.edu.sg, stating your full name, student number and attach a scanned image of your student card. Please note that all electronic correspondences from the University will be sent to your mailing official NUS student email address. It is important that you login and read your emails frequently. The University will not be held responsible if you do not receive or read any important correspondence. Your Student Card will be activated for access to NUS premises one day after you physically register with NUS.

(c) Computer Facilities, IT Resources and NUS Second Life Students who receive the student cards at the Registration Centre can make use of the computer facilities with effect from the start of the semester. To facilitate the use of IT for learning and communication, the University has established a Secure Plug and Play environment where you can gain access to all the NUS IT resources around the clock, just by plugging the personal notebook computer to any of the over 14,000 plug-and-play points distributed all over the campus, such as in the study rooms, open lobby areas, corridors, canteens, etc. You can also access the WinZone wireless LAN services on campus. To access your NUS email account from non-NUS computers, at the main NUS website http://www.nus.edu.sg/, select myEMAIL and log-in using your NUSNET ID and password. (d) Library Facilities Visit http://www.lib.nus.edu.sg/ for Library Guides and other information on library services provided to NUS students. Please note copyright matters with respect to photocopying of library materials as spelt out in the full set of Library Rules

(e) Sports and Recreation Information on the Sports and Recreation Centre (SRC) can be obtained from http://www.nus.edu.sg/osa/src. Students are encouraged to use the facilities at the SRC and take up sports to keep healthy. Bookings of sports facilities can be made via the online system at https://aces01.nus.edu.sg/SrcvcbWeb/jsp/general/logon.jsp.

(h) National University of Singapore Students Union (NUSSU) A welcome message from NUSSU to all new NUS undergraduates for AY2012/2013: Dear Freshman, Every student admitted into NUS is automatically a member of the NUS Students Union (NUSSU). As such, we would like to extend a very warm welcome to you in joining our family! Many exciting new experiences await you in our Freshmen Orientation Programme which aims to provide you with the most awesome and informative experience during your first few weeks on campus. UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS SPECIAL TERM AY2012/2013 (i) Tertiary Student EZLink Card (UG) Full-time undergraduates who are neither sponsored nor receiving an allowance from an organization are entitled to apply for a EZlink card which give them concessionary rates when travelling on public buses and MRT. Applications can be made at specified TransitLink Ticket Offices from Thursday, 2 May 2013 onwards. Please check the OSAs website http://www.nus.edu.sg/osa/ssc/services/student-ezlink-card for information on EZlink card application and location of TransitLink Ticket Offices.

(j) Integrated Student Information System (MyISIS) MyISIS https://myisis.nus.edu.sg is a single entry point for students to manage a wide range of student-related transaction relating to Academic, Finance and Personal Information matters. To login to MyISIS, you will need your NUSNET ID and NUSNET password which are released to you via the Pre-Registration system upon completion of your Pre-Registration.
