It is important that we seize this opportunity. Our children today need more dedicated teachers who care, cherish, and understand their struggles in life and school. Teachers should be nurturing, yet expect nothing but academic success for all students no matter who they are and what circumstances reside in their way. With my yearlong experience at Dodge Renaissance Academy, I am eager to start utilizing my new skills and knowledge. My residency year has guided me in becoming an effective urban educator. During my residency I Implemented signature strategies such as cold call, think, pair, share, checks for understanding, 100%, strong voice, do nows, exit tickets, at bats, and no opt out Used STEP and MAP data and daily assessments such as exit tickets to group students for small group work and to guide instruction Differentiated instruction and homework packets into tiers of above average and average to meet the diverse learning needs of my students Participated in co planning and cluster meetings which enhanced my knowledge of RTI strategies and extended response activities. Utilized engagement techniques such as turn and talk and collaborative learning to enhance students thinking.
