EMERGENCY STAND BY POWER SYSTEM 3.6.1.UNINTERRUPTED POWER SUPPLY (UPS) The uninterrupted power supply (UPS) facility has a continuous operation mode and switches between a normal grid and consumers. It supplies all active serviced components. Voltage fluctuations in normal grid are balanced by the uninterruptible power system. The system has prime and secondary filters which prevent stress peaks and other power line disturbances from reaching the consumers. In case of the mains supply cutoff a parallel battery shall supply a PWM-controlled inverter circuit which, in its turn, shall provide absolute uninterruptable supply to the consumers. The battery is continuously charged in the controlled gentle charging mode, the charge is systemcontrolled so as to ensure full capacity in case of the grid cutoff. The uninterruptible power system has a battery temperature monitoring function which allows controlling the charging voltage in intense and normal charge modes depending on the ambient temperature. As a result, the battery is secured against too high temperatures when charged which has a favorable effect on its service life. The system shall easily manage high inrush currents of critical consumers due to 200% overload capacity in the mains supply mode. The uninterruptible power system is good for a concurrency mode in case of possible powerup or for parallel operation at half-load (backup mode). The inlet of the uninterruptible power system shall ensure that upper harmonics induced by the uninterruptible power system (backlash on the net) due to relevant activities (for example, filters) are reduced to <3%. Cos-phi of the uninterruptible power system at the inlet shall be controlled notwithstanding the cos-phi of the connected consumers load in the UPS power range 25-100% until the cos phi is about 1. Electronic Switching Device: In case of overloading or system failure, the uninterruptible power system has a built-in electronic switching device which switches the uninterruptable supply consumers to the available mains supply. After release of overloading the electronic switching device shall automatically switch the load in the uninterruptable mode to the UPS supply. Switchgear with External Bypass Switch: With a view to service and maintenance support, the system has a supplementary external by-pass switch. This external bypass switch switches the load in the uninterrupted mode directly to the supply mains. The blocking of the bypass switch shall rule out the possibility of switching errors. Operating Status Notifications: The operating status recording system shall ensure online registration of all events in the memory. The memory shall store at least 200 latest messages as they arise. Control and Warning Facilities: With view to obtain quick control over the demand pattern of the uninterruptible power system at any time, the active load level of the system shall be revealed on the display in percents. In case of a battery supply mode, the display shall indicate the remaining charge time depending on the demand setup and the last recorded battery status. One may use the display to obtain additional status information:

PASSENGER AND FREIGHT ELEVATOR FACILITIES Elevator lobbies will have one-touch dial operating panels, elevator cars will have car panels installed inside. Elevator numeration is to be placed above the shaft access at every stopping point. Such elements are to be located centered above the portals. Operating panels within the cars should have backlit pushbuttons according to the number of stopping points (apart from the target selection control mode) and buttons for door open, door close, alarm button, emergency switch, intercom device and door lever key (only for freight elevators) and should be designed in compliance with the specification below. Engravings of the car panels will be produced as requested by the builder or the architect. Additionally, the car panels should provide indication of overload (optic and acoustic) and that of leaving the car. Basic Functions: - operation hour counter per elevator - trip counter per elevator - collective malfunction message - overload controls - limitation of closing pressure of the driving mechanisms for the elevator doors - door open time for internal and external calls separately adjustable - repeated closing of doors in case of lock malfunction - onward trip to the next stop in case of not opening doors - immediate call assignment in case of groups - electrical return controls - continued group operation in case of malfunction of one of the elevators

Safety Systems - speed control unit with contact for the elevator cage; - emergency end switch that prevents missing both end points of the elevator cage; - timing unit that closes the doors after maximum 5 seconds and enables onward trip, time adjustable; - overload and maximum load blocking device with an optic and acoustic signal in the elevator cage; - display device indicating direction of rotation of the main engine and position of the elevator cage; - electrical emergency call device consisting of pushbutton and speaking spot in the elevator cage as well as an intercom device in the porters lodge; - potential-free malfunction alarm contact for central building control systems; - mechanical and electrical latching device of the locking doors; - elevator cage door contacts; - photo cells, limiters of closing pressure at the doors; - electrical release trip of the car from the engine room; - automatic departure of the elevators to the next floor or first floor (ground level) and standstill with open doors in case of a fire alarm; Basic Operation and Control Functions - slowdown control switch - temperature monitoring lifting motor: should the temperature exceed the critical value, the trip will be completed up to the end and the facility shut down until the temperature goes below the critical value - monitoring function facility blocked canceling of an error message, should the facility not continue its trip, as requested, within an adjustable period of time - fire department function designed according to local norms with the EN norm setting a minimum standard - emergency power supply controls emergency power operation will be identified and the elevators evacuate one after another to the predefined emergency power stopping point. It is possible to select elevators that continue their operation after evacuation of all elevators. (It can be combined with a start-up locking mechanism) - emergency evacuation controls fully automatic evacuation of the elevator car to the next stopping point, for example in the event of power failure or failure of control systems - fire controls In the event of fire there will be safety functions of elevators triggered in switching cabinets through the external control systems by the fire detection system. Transfer of external contacts in switching cabinets takes place by means of hardware. In case of activation of a fire detection contact, the elevators will stop and then start an evacuation trip (trip to the fire protection stopping point) where the facility shuts down. Further, additional safety functions (voice announcements, etc.) are to be activated. - earthquake switching should the corresponding contact notifies of an earthquake, the facility will be evacuated to the next operable stopping point and shut down - safety catch at limiter this function enables prevention of sliding or emergency braking system. This function suppresses uncontrolled movements of elevator cage while standing (by means of a safety catch) - adjustment controls in case of divergence of the car from the flush landing-level position, the car will be then placed flush at the stopping point - entrance with an opening door the door already begins to open at the start of the approach to the door zone - reopening on a call from outside

a door which is already in process of closure can be opened again on a call from outside. jostling facility when the door light barrier is continuously interrupted and after the expiry of an adjustable jostling time the door is slowly closed (the open - close door button is active). slip opening on the interruption of the light barrier the door is only opened again to a point that can be set (slip opening). After the lapse of a set time with a continued interruption of the door light barrier, the door is opened again to the end limit occupation controls on an 80% exceeding of the cabin load no further external calls are processed (only commands from inside the cabin), until there is once again a shortfall of the occupation threshold value priority right controls no external calls are processed when there is a priority right. The elevator only travels to commands from inside the elevator car automatic light + ventilation switch off when the elevator is not called for a specific time period, the light and ventilation are automatically switched off automatic switching off of the display elements 15 minutes after the last request for elevator use the display elements are switched into stand-by mode. group interruption control using the group interruption function multiple elevator groups can be divided in two parts when there is a need for this start locking control the start locking prevents the simultaneous starting of multiple elevators. This is used for pushing down power consumption peaks which can result in, for example, an emergency backup generator overload travel curve parameter adjustment this supplementary function can be used for cutting back the power consumption for elevator travel. In dependence on various boundary conditions a different parameter replacement (such as lower acceleration rate) is referenced for the travel curve. Can only be used together with a frequency inverter trends control the trends function takes on the controls for the filling up (upward trend) or emptying (downward trend) process in the building. This occupation trend control is intended to ensure faster and more efficient elevator travel handling during busy times of the day abuse control maximum number of passengers when the number of commands given inside the elevator cabin equals the maximum number of persons in the cabin, no further commands from inside the cabin are accepted abuse control empty cabin when more than two commands are made from inside the cabin when the cabin is empty (load under 5%) all the commands are deleted abuse control deletion of inner cabin call at stopping position all commands from inside the cabin are deleted on reaching the end stopping position abuse control deletion of inner cabin call against direction of travel all commands that are against the direction of travel shall be deleted on reaching any stopping position deleting of a call from inside the cabin by users (the possibility is provided to delete an incorrectly made command from inside the cabin by means of a renewed actuation) special travel control an elevator can be called for special travel use by means of a key switch car to lobby control a key switch or toggle switch is to be installed behind glass at the main elevator stopping position; on the use of this switch elevator travel will be interrupted and the elevator will return
Page 65 of 84

immediately to the main stopping position. Any commands lined up from inside or outside the car will be deleted. The elevator can only be returned to normal operation by using this key switch or toggle switch preferred call allocation the preferred call allocation selects the elevator with the lowest load level parking stopping point control when the elevator is not called again within the set waiting time, the parking position is traveled to automatically automatic recall the elevators in an elevator group are distributed in the predefined parking zones in such a manner that there can be short waiting times only for new external calls coding of stopping positions commands and / or calls from inside the cabin can be either activated or deactivated using a key switch automatic locking or stopping positions individual stopping positions can be locked on a time-controlled basis compulsory stopping position controls a compulsory stopping position can be defined at which the elevator will always stop

ESCALATORS AND CONVEYORS At each entry point, signalling elements must be positioned with symbols (green arrow or white bar on a red background) indicating the direction of travel. Switchable for both running directions. The switchover is performed using safety key-operated switches in the base cover at each entry point. In addition to the UP/DOWN key function, a zero setting must be available for the switch-off of operation without a malfunction message. Basic functions: - Operating hours counter for each escalator and travelator

Collective malfunction reporting (including EMERGENCY STOP) designed as a floating changer Complete motor protection with thermocouples as protection against thermal overload. In the event of an adjustable threshold temperature being exceeded, the escalator or travelator is automatically switched off. Energy saving switch In order to reduce power consumption as a function of traffic volume, an energy saving switch is provided in which the current consumption is measured and used as a parameter for activating the energy saving mechanism. Automatic Stop & Go mode The system is switched ON and OFF as required. The escalator or travelator is only activated when a passenger approaches it. The passenger is recognised using an electric eye or via a pressure sensor on the machine or maintenance area flap. Automatic standby mode The system is toggled between normal mode and creep speed as a function of demand. In creep speed, the unused escalator or travelator is operated at a significantly lower speed (approx. 20% of the maximum speed via a frequency converter). The escalator or travelator only accelerates when a passenger approaches. The passenger is recognised using an electric eye or via a pressure sensor on the machine or maintenance area flap. Electronic malfunction reports An individual fault reporting device which stores and displays all malfunctions must be created. In the area of the upper loading point, a display panel must be planned in a clearlyvisible position. Braking distance measuring system In order to approximate the empty and full load braking distance, suitable constructions must be provided so that loading weights do not have to be used in the event of recurring acceptance tests. For repeat tests of the braking distance without loading weights, an electronic braking distance measuring system must be provided according to the principle of amplified centrifugal masses. The braking distance must be read off via a transportable measuring device or via an electronic fault reporting device with digital display. The braking path should ideally be readable directly in cm. Functional check of the service brake When a minimum lining thickness of the brake linings is reached, the escalator or travelator must be automatically switched off via an electronic functional check of the service brake. In the event of a brake magnet failure, the voltage feed must be interrupted. Manual control devices for servicing A manual control device for servicing with at least 3 m of cable and a multi-way plug is provided. Mains socket At each turnaround point, a mains socket (1 x 230 V AC) must be provided for the connection of lighting and equipment. Fluorescent lights Fluorescent lights are used in the entrance and work areas below the mobile parts of the escalator or travelator. Shut-off device Two shut-off devices for the turnaround station must be provided for maintenance purposes on each escalator.
