0 Summary The case study is about the 3 main characters, who work in the Shangri-La Fijian Resort (FIJIAN). Shangri-La Fijian Resort (FIJIAN) also known as Shangri-La International Hotel Group that allocated at Yanuca Island. FIJIAN was 30 years old and enjoyed a strong and widespread of reputation in Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific region as a world standard international hotel. Yanuca Island, is a native reserve land, which was owned by and leased from Nadroga tribe whose main village was located on the main island of Viti Levu and just outside the Yanuca Island. The Chief of the Nadroga tribe held the title, Kalevu, which means High Chief, which it was hereditary, passed down to the eldest claimant, either female or male. It was a complex and complicated web of places and relationship in the Fijian society which had developed through thousands of years by conquests and marriages in the evolution of the Fijian civilization. The first character was Brett Taylor, an American who was an expatriate owner-manager in a resort hotel at Yanuca Hotel. The second character was Moala Tukana, which he was from the Nadrogan landowner tribe. He was being selected by the FIJIAN for the 3 year hotel management course in Switzerland in the first batch of the three high school students. After his graduation, he was working in FIJIAN and holding an important executive position in 5-star international hotel group as the Assistant Food and Beverage Manager in the Food and Beverage Department. Besides that, he also became the unofficial train-the-trainer for the local staff and will spend his time to teach and train his unfortunate colleagues in the company. His relationship with other staffs was good and showing respect to the older staffs. The second character was Solome Suacake, she was being hired as a trainee waitress at the Lagoon Terrace Restaurant, the 24-hour house of the FIJIAN. She came from a small Bauan trube that lives on a small island off the east coast of Vanua Levu. Salome was performed well for the first two months and after that her attitude was change to negative towards the work responsibilities. The rumors spreading that she was keeping the money which customer paid for their meals and drink. However, they had no proof over the rumors. The supervisor of the restaurant is Moala. After that, Brett Taylor had caught red-handed of Salome of taking money from customer. Moala was being called by the management for the incident happened. He had amitted that he knew about it and he stated that Salome was needed

the money to help finance the building of a church at her village. He further stated he was her Tau, a person committed by the ancestors to support her. 2.0 Problem Statement I. Salome was misused the customary practices to commit crime in the company. Salome was kept the money which customers paid their meals and drinks. Moala was being called by the management due to that Moala is a supervisor in the restaurant and he need to explain over the incident happened. He knew about the incident and claimed that she kept the money to help the finance the building of a church at her village. Besides that, she knew that Moala is a Tau to her, which means that he will support her that committed by ancestor. This is because that Moalas ancestors owed Salomes ancestors a debt, as a result that they had an unbreakable relationship or a bond. Therefore, Salome also uses this opportunity to take advantage over the customary practices to stole the money from the company. II. Moala knew about the incident happened and no action is being taken over Salome.
