Image Quality
The Xerox Color 550/560 is designed to produce a uniform image. However, Color Image Quality is subjective and can be impacted by lighting, and is strongly influenced by paper (consult the Recommended Materials List). Color consistency of DeltaE 7 within a page The Xerox Color 550/560 employs a very wide media latitude. Feeding heavyweight stocks will result in a higher than normal amount of paper curl. The resulting paper curl can provide difficulties if precision cutting of the printed sheets is required. Item

Document Feeder
The Duplexing Automatic Document Feeder (DADF) will handle originals from 5.5 x 8.5 to 11 x 17 (or A3) in size, and from 16-28lb bond / 60-105gsm in weight. The DADF has a maximum capacity of 250 sheets (based on 24lb/90 gsm Paper). The DADF operates at 65PPM B+W (8.5x11 / A4 LEF) and 50 PPM Color (8.5x11 / A4 LEF) in copy mode. The DADF operates at 80 PPM B+W (8.5x11 / A4 LEF) and 50 PPM Color in Network Scanning Mode.
The maximum print/copy speed for the system is limited by the process speed of the Xerox Color 550/560 engine and by the distance travelled by the media. As with any copier or printer, maximum print speed will not be attained when pulling paper from multiple trays or when system is expanded to include optional finishers and feeders. As a printer / copier, the Xerox Color 550/560 is a document printer; therefore, in reverse order (face-up) printing the print engine will not cycle up until the entire job is ready. This will impact First Copy Out Time (FCOT). The printer may cycle down between each job depending on job complexity. When printing, overall system performance (Click to Clunk time) is primarily dependent upon the software applications and network environment being used. Rasterizing (RIP-ing) is only a small fraction of Click to Clunk time. The Xerox Color 550/560 enables accurate billing of black and white and color copied pages.

Xerox Business 4200, 20lb / 75gsm Xerox Color Expressions Select + 90gsm/ 24lb
This paper is specifically designed to maximize image quality and machine performance over a wide range of environmental conditions. Unless otherwise specified, all references to media capacity and performance in this document are based on these papers. Using coated (e.g., glossy, matte coated or photo finished / proofing) and/ or extra heavyweight (i.e., >90lb Index / 176 gsm) stock may result in degraded reliability performance for the Xerox Color 550/560. Customers using these materials exclusively or extensively will see decreased performance as it relates to image quality and product reliability. Attempts to feed heavier than recommended paper stocks, and/or misuse of the media settings, may cause machine damage or poor image quality. Using media at run modes other than that recommended for the grade may cause poor image quality and serious machine damage. Environmental conditions may require that coated paper be fed one at a time through Tray 5 (Bypass). Relative Humidity greater than 40% could cause multi-feeds. Output may require removal at 25 sheets in the tray when not using a finisher. Gloss variation can occur from machine rolls, especially on high area coverage prints. OHCF is recommended for high humidity (>40%) environments. 100lb text generally performs better than 80lb text. The system does not prohibit running coated substrates from the internal trays (Trays 1-4); however, there can be a significant increase in jams or multi-feeds. If large quantities of coated paper are to be run, the OHCF is recommended for paper feeding. When using 11 x 17 stock, closing Trays 1-2 with too much force will result in a paper size misread. Open and close the tray gently to allow the paper sensors to correctly identify paper size. The maximum print/copy speed for the system is determined by the process speed of the Xerox Color 550/560 engine; image quality adjustments are done frequently to maintain consistent IQ. If the requested finishing is outside machine capabilities, jobs may be held at the print server. 45-36x faults may occur intermittently. The expected frequency is approximately once every 20,000 prints or once a month, depending on print volume. To recover, power off and power on the printer. If the machine stops running mid-job, or does not begin printing after a job is submitted, check the Machine Status/Supplies screen to determine if supplies need to be replaced. The system will stop if sufficient supplies are not available for a submitted job. If the problem persists, check the Machine Status/Fault screen, select the fault, and click on the Instructions button. The system does not prohibit duplexing coated and heavyweight 2 substrates; however, there may be an increase in jams. If problems occur, switch to manual duplex. If the adjustment arms are disturbed while re-loading paper in Tray 5, the paper size setting will return to default and cause job to stop until the paper size setting is corrected by the user. If the paper is changed while the machine is in Sleep Mode, the machine may not register the change in paper size. If this occurs, first open the side paper guide to the largest size, close and re-open the tray, then adjust the side paper guide to the correct size.

Envelopes should be run in limited quantities on an occasional basis and are not intended to be a primary media for this product. Envelope should be run using media type heavyweight 2, face-up selected. Envelopes should be run open flap to the left (trail edge). It is not recommended to run closed flap because it is more susceptible to wrinkles, creases, light image and the flap sealing during the run. North American envelopes will only run in Custom Size Mode with manually inputting the size indicated above. These dimensions include a commercial style open flap (specific dimensions for the envelopes being used should be entered, including flap size). Some European envelope sizes can be programmed as a default on the UI in Tools. Envelope Basis Weight must be between 75 to 90 GSM.
