FOOD LESSON PLAN CLASS: 5B No.

of students: 18 UNIT 8: STUDENTS BOOK: AIM HIGH 1 TEACHER: Alexandra Tomsa Additional materials: marker, worksheets, projector, 1) Teacher organizes the class and tells Ss the SB of the lesson. ( 1-2 min) 2) Icebreaker activity: Aim: to introduce the subject to the lesson and make it accessible to the Ss Procedure: T tells Ss they will watch a video. The video is an excerpt from "The Pink Panther", the hamburger scene. T gives them some worksheets. They will watch the video and then put some statements that the characters are making in the correct order. The Ss will watch the video twice. T asks Ss what the video is about. Interaction: T-Ss; Ss-Ss Timing: 5-7 min 3) Writing activity: Aim: to check the information that the Ss have received so far: Procedure: T tells Ss they are going to describe what they have seen in the video in no more than 5-7 lines. Ss will read their story to the class. Interaction: T-Ss; Timing: 3-5 min 4) Matching activity: Aim: to practice the food vocabulary in the unit Procedure: T tells Ss to open their student's books at page 78, unit "On the menu". T tells Ss to solve exercise 1, where they have to match the food and drink in the picture with the words in the box. T discusses with Ss about the countable/ uncountable nouns. Interaction: T-Ss; Timing: 2-3 min 5) Grammar exercise: Aim: to practice the use of the countable/uncountable nouns Procedure: T tells Ss to solve ex 2 page 78. They are supposed to divide the food and drink in exercise 1 into two groups, countable and uncountable nouns. T tells Ss to give some more examples of the same kind.

Interaction: T-Ss; Timing: 3-5 min 6) Communication activity: Aim: for Ss to practice speaking using the vocabulary in the unit. Procedure: T asks Ss a series of questions related to the topic of food. The best or the funniest answers will get appreciations. Interaction: T-Ss; Timing: 5-7 min 7) Pre-listening activity: Aim: for Ss to be familiar with the listening exercise they are about to hear. Procedure: T asks Ss if they eat junk food a lot. If they say yes/no, T asks them why and Ss have to tell their opinion about fast food diners. Interaction: T-Ss; Timing: 1-2 min 8) Listening activity: Aim: to practice their comprehension skills Procedure: T tells Ss they are going to listen to a song called "The fast food song". T gives Ss some worksheets and tells them they have to fill in the blanks with the words they have in the worksheet above. Ss will listen to the song twice. Interaction: T-Ss; Timing: 5-7 min 8) Fast food game: Let's build up a hamburger/cheeseburger Aim: for T to check the Ss ability to work in groups Procedure: T tells Ss they are going to play a game. The game is called ""The hamburger game". Ss will be divided in teams. They will be given small pieces of paper with the ingredients that make up a hamburger/cheeseburger. First T writes the ingredients on the board. Ss will be given the ingredients written on paper. They have to stick the pieces of paper on their backs and stand in a straight line so that they build a hamburger/cheeseburger as fast as they can. T will give cookies to the winning team. Interaction: T-Ss; Timing: 5 min

9) Homework: Ss will have to make up a small composition containing the words that they had to fill in the song.
