Working Drawings III year BSSA Anju Chhaya ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN (AD) As a subject, a lot of research goes into

the conceptualization of any project. In practice, Architect takes a good amount of time to come to the first sequence of sketches, which in turn starts taking a built form as the impression of his design. ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN ENHANCEMENT (ADE) Academically, ADE is the additional introduction prior to learning about Working Drawings. As per the term, we would be enhancing the designs, within the parameters of initial concepts, in terms of the following: concept, revisiting the initial thought process by way of planning and layouts spaces, in terms of o Circulation, o light and ventilation, o statutory requirements, o services- like drainage, water supply, light and ventilation, structural design aspects

SCHEDULE OF SERVICES :

We segregate the set of drawings, required for a project, in the following categories: a. Architectural Design drawings (conceptual) for initial design approval by client and basic estimate of the project b. Municipal corporation submission drawings (statutory departments)
Prepare drawings necessary for Client's/ statutory approvals and ensure compliance with codes, standards and legislation, as applicable and assist the Client in obtaining the statutory approvals thereof, if required. Prepare tender drawings with basic dimensions and details, specifications and schedule of quantities sufficient to prepare estimate of cost and tender documents including code of practice covering aspects like mode of measurement, method of payments, quality control procedures on materials & works and other conditions of contract. These documents are required for inviting the tenders for selection of a contractor

d. Working drawings This comprises of detailed drawings which are based on Tender drawings. These drawing have to have all dimensions required for Execution. Working drawing are also prepared in coordination with Structural and Services drawings. They also need to be coordinated with specialized vendors drawings such as sky lights, Roofing systems, Structural glazing etc. WORKING DRAWINGS (EXECUTION DRAWINGS) The next step is to make working drawings. These are drawings that are accurate but produced at a reduced scale, in 1:100 scale. They are used to determine specific dimensions of the various components. Working drawings are not drawn freehand (normally), but rather are created with drafting tools like pencils, erasers, triangles, Tsquare, compass, French curve, ...) or with a CAD package.

Execution drawings comprises of the following disciplines and details in normal practice 1) Architectural drawings

3) Services drawings (Internal and External)

a. Plumbing Water supply- Underground Tanks, Over head tanks (Fire, Flush and Domestic) Storm water (External and Internal)-Surface Water Drains- Road, Parking, Compound -Courtyards, Roofs, Terraces, Open Stairs and Ramps etc. Drainage (External and Internal) Sewerage Landscape hydrants b. Electrical and electronic design. (External and Internal) c. HVAC (Heating, ventilation and Air conditioning) d. BAFAPA (Systems- Building automation, Fire alarm, Public address and Fire Hydrants)
e. Communication systems and design.
