Site Preparation

Prepare the site for the network installation in the following manner:

l Use the Packing Lists to verify the availability of all required 4120 Network hardware
l Make certain that each node of the 4120 Network is installed per applicable installation instructions for that node
l Verify the stand-alone operation of each node using the Programmer’s Report for that node
l Make certain that all network cabling is installed
lVerify the network wiring throughout the cable run.

Connecting a Node to the 4120 Network

Use the following procedure to connect a node to the 4120 Network.

1. Unlock and open the panel door.

2. Remove the retainer in the following manner:

a. Remove the retainer holding screws
b. Squeeze and pull the two black plastic tabs located on the upper part of the retainer
c. Lift the retainer from the back box.

4. Connect the network wiring to U.T. Universal Motherboard Terminals TBl and TB2.
l Refer to the 841-731 Field Wiring Diagram.

5. Install the 4120/4100 Network Interface Board into the right-hand socket on the U.T. Universal Motherboard.

6. Configure the Network Interface Board Address Switch SW1 in accordance with the assignment for that card.

7. Power-up the unit and connect the batteries

Verifying the Network

When all of the nodes have been connected to the network, use the Network Programmer’s Reports to verify the
network.

l Test point status changes.

l Test common annunciation.
l Interrogate the network about point and node information.
l Test common trouble point status reports and responses.

Use Version 6.01 (or later) of the 4100 Programming Unit to make any corrections to the node CFIG chips. Refer to
Publication NET-41 -003 for programming information.

When the network responses are satisfactory, perform the following steps for each node.

1. Replace the retainer and the retainer holding screws.

2. Close and lock the panel door.
